"The Hall House" - Waterfront 3-bed plus loft, Sleeps 8

Set along the shore of Narraguagus Bay, The Hall House offers expansive views of islands and the Bay. Kayaking in the bay, hiking through the woods or up Pigeon Hill, bird watching and hiking at Petit Manan Wildlife Refuge, or exploring Acadia National Park are some of the activities available.

**Check out our amazingly immersive 3D tour by visiting our page on Facebook. Search for "The Hall House - Downeast Waterfront vacation Home" **

The Hall House is located at the end of a rural dirt and gravel road on a peninsula. The house was built in 1997 on the shore of Narraguagus Bay. Visitors will follow a dirt road past beautiful native fir and birch trees to get here from the main road.

The house consists of a living room area with windows facing out to the bay. Lots of natural sunlight enters through the windows and skylights, and a large dining table with seating for 6 is adjacent to the waterfront deck. The living room has a working gas stove, a couch, and three chairs.

Entry is through the kitchen, which is complete with a refrigerator, gas stove/oven, microwave, coffee maker, dishwasher, toaster oven, and sink.

The primary bedroom is located at the end of the hallway and faces the Bay. It consists of a queen-sized bed, a desk, a bureau, and a closet. A half-bathroom with a sink and toilet is adjoining this bedroom.

Another bedroom is also at the end of the hall and faces the woods and the parking area. This bedroom has a queen bed, a bureau, and a closet.

The bunk room has two twin beds in bunk style, a bureau, and a row of hooks on the wall for more storage.

A loft area with two twin beds and a foot chest is accessed by placing the portable wooden loft ladder at the loft entrance The ladder has seven (7) rungs.

A screened-in porch is accessed by going through the kitchen/dining area, and it has seating for 6 people. This is a favorite spot in the morning and late afternoon.

A deck is on the east side of the house, facing the water. Sunrise comes on strong and warm here, and it's a great spot to enjoy watching the lobster boat activity on the bay or to watch Bald Eagles, heron, cormorant, seals, osprey, and other wildlife. An LP gas grill is located on the deck as well as seating.

Off the north end of the deck are steps to get to the lower lawn and the path to the waterfront. From here, you can catch crabs, fish, or launch kayaks. Fishing gear, kayaks, canoes, and other boats are not included. A public boat launch is available in town.

As a treasured family getaway, The Hall House has limited availability in the summer.

Day Trips, Fish Flips and Chilly Dips!
I cannot say enough about how wonderful the Hall House is. Our family of 4 adults and 4 teenage boys spent a week there, and what a fantastic week it was! The house is exactly as pictured with spectacular views of Narraguagus Bay and the open ocean. The deck and screen porch are wonderful places to relax and enjoy those views. The kitchen is clean and well stocked. Beds are super comfortable, and you can fall asleep listening to the waves crash on the rocks, which is truly cathartic! A welcoming vase of fresh wildflowers was on the porch table and fragrant blueberry soaps were in both bathrooms. A nice extra touch! The host was quick to respond to messages, provided some great suggestions for area attractions and made us feel welcome before we even left home. Sunrise over the bay is beautiful and definitely worth waking up early for. Schools of fish swim in front of the house which makes the area a feeding ground for seals. The water seems to boil with jumping fish as the seals swim in for their meal. There are a number of lobster traps close to shore, so we watched from the deck as lobstermen hauled them, a front row seat to a bit of real Maine that many people don't get to see. Our grandsons swam every day off the rocks. The water was a chilly 51.2 degrees, but they had a blast! They also caught a few fish. A word of caution, the rocks can be very slippery so be careful if you decide to brave the chill and take a swim or do some fishing. There are a lot of places to see within an hour of Milbridge. Lubec is a lovely little town where you can see West Quoddy Head Light, the famous red and white striped lighthouse that stands on the easternmost point in the U.S. There are some nice hiking trails in the park. Acadia is an hour in the other direction and worth the trip. You will need a park pass to visit. Recommend purchasing and printing your pass from home for the week you plan to visit. A separate pass to Cadillac Mountain is needed and well worth the $6 entry fee for the spectacular views. Check out the less crowded Schoodic Penninsula (part of Acadia) as well. There is a lot to see and do in the area but some of our best days were just staying at the house relaxing, reading, swimming and fishing. If you are in need of a little rest and relaxation and/or a great family vacation this is the place!

A beautiful, quiet, relaxing getaway
We loved staying here and didn't want to leave! There were a lot of fun adventures and hikes to go on in the surrounding area without having to drive all the way over to busy Acadia. Definitely check on Pigeon Hill and the Hollingsworth trail at Petit Manan, as well as Schoodic Mountain and Lake. Some days we just wanted to take it easy and walked down the trail by the house to where we could watch our young kids could climb around and play on the rocks by ocean. The loft on the second floor is a little bit higher than we first thought it would be from the pictures, especially for our not super well coordinated five year old, but we spotted for them as the five and seven year old's climbed up and down from bed each day and didn't have any issues. Our other two slept in the other two bedrooms with our large pack and play fitting in the room without the bunk beds. If you are going to bring young kids who need to take naps we recommend getting something to cover the windows during the day. We brought some blackout blinds from Tommee Tippee that worked well. The suction cups on them actually fit into a small gap between the wall and the top of the wood trim above the windows, since most of the windows had screens that prevented using the suction cups the normal way. Overall it was our first vacation in a long time and we loved staying here!

Delightful cabin in beautiful Down East Maine
This location is absolutely stunning and was the perfect setting for a week-long summer family vacation. The cabin, with all its amenities, had everything we needed (except for WiFi which, hopefully, will be coming soon) for the entire week. The views out the back windows and porch were magnificent. On the sunny days, we could climb around on the rocks along the shore or get to many of the hiking trails throughout the Down East area. On the foggy and/or rainy days, they were plenty of puzzles/games to keep the family entertained, and the loft was a perfect nook for the kids to read and hangout. The solitude and vistas are well worth the trip, and our family is looking forward to renting this location again.
