Sunrise in Surf City

This has been our families personal second home for many years. We recently decided to put it on VRBO to share with others. It has amazing sunrises and is 10 minute walk to the beach. We have a private boat ramp and covered dock. You can launch your boat or kayaks ( We provide two) from the dock.

Our place offers an amazing screened porch to sit and relax. Inside the kitchen, living and dining have all been updated with new furnishings. The master bedroom also has new furnishings and a temperpedic mattress for extra comfort.

Relaxing weekend

We stayed for a weekend when my oldest had a sports tournament, and enjoyed kayaking when she was finished. The beds were comfortable and the view was wonderful.

What a view

Waking up every morning drinking a cup of coffee looking at the marsh, what else. Beds were comfortable, dock was great. Great stay

Family Vacation

Our 3 day vacation at this stunning home was amazing. The house was gorgeous so clean and felt like home. The boat dock was perfect for the kayaks. The pier was amazing. We fished on the pier day n nite, enjoyed the swing & hammock. We will stay here on our next trip it was awesome!

Beautiful house with great screened in porch + dock to watch the sunrise .🌅

We really enjoyed our stay at Sunrise in Surf City. We came down to visit our son who is stationed at Camp Lejeune and daughter who lives in Surf City . The house was clean , kitchen is well stocked, and beds are very comfortable. The screened in porch and dock with swing was the perfect place to spend watching the AMAZING sunrises and beautiful view of sound . Plus we so enjoyed the use of the kayaks . The owner is very responsive to any questions. We enjoyed it so much we already made reservations for another visit.

Best of both the sound and the beach!

The house was very clean, well appointed kitchen and plenty of space to eat inside and on the screened in porch. The views of the sound are beautiful. We were a family of 4 and this house was perfect for a small family. Our teams fished off the pier and had fun kayaking. We were walked to the beach every morning, only a 15 min walk! The neighbors are friendly and the street is dog friendly. The beach was dog friendly. We enjoyed the short ride to surf city and restaurants. This is a great location with awesome views! You will not want to miss the sun rises and the moon at night over the sound.

A beautiful setting

Overall we had a lovely family vacation at this property. Pros: The home is tastefully updated, clean and comfortable. The grounds are well kept. The location is a short half mile to the beach, which is walkable, or you can find pay parking easily. There are many restaurants in a short radius along with grocery stores. The screened in porch featuring a new dining table for 6, and sitting area was perfect for rainy summer days, working remotely and buggy nights. There is an added bonus of a pullout sofa that can accommodate 2. We had a small wedding on the dock with our 3 children present, featuring a lovely backdrop of the bay. The neighborhood is quiet with many spectacular homes. The view of the bay is stunning and peaceful with flying fish and bird watching. The kitchen is adequately stocked with cookware, utensils etc. There are plenty of bath towels provided. 2 beach chairs and beach towels. I travel the US and abroad extensively and have stayed at many homes via online services. With that in mind, it is rare that I add cons to my review. In this instance, there are several that are worth mentioning. The homeowner responded quickly to any questions we had beforehand regarding amenities to the property, which we very much appreciated. However, on check-in day, we did not receive any check-in instructions. I messaged the homeowner via the app twice to no avail. Upon arrival to the property at 7pm, we still didn’t have a way to gain access to the home. We tried contacting VRBO through their automated system to no avail. Fortunately, the neighbor was home and volunteered to contact the owner. To her credit, she promptly called us very apologetic with the access code. One of the Kayaks provided had a cracked hull, unbeknownst to us, filled with water became unstable and capsized while we were 1/2 mile out on the bay on day one. We notified the homeowner and tried to repair at our expense, as we are avid kayakers and a main reason we rented the property, but we weren’t able to repair, so only one kayak was usable the week we were there. We chalked it up to a good story to tell and let it go. however… To our surprise and frustration the homeowner filed an insurance claim for full replacement of the well worn kayak, $575. The claim states we damaged the kayak but in actuality was damaged before our stay. We have contacted the insurance company to dispute this claim.

The kayak was not damaged before your stay. Your wife called to tell me it had sunk while you were playing on it. I tried to call both of you to discuss before writing this and neither of you returned my call. Also, It has always been my philosophy if I broke something at someone else's home, it would be my responsibility to replace it, which I would assume reason for purchasing the insurance. Also, If you have a kayak that is similar or if you would rather buy me a used one, I am fine with that too, if one can be found. Unfortunately, at this time it is very challenging to get one. Your wife called to tell me it had sunk while you were playing on it. I tried to call both of you to discuss before writing this and neither of you returned my call.

Great property, very clean and the owners were very responsive to all email and phone communication. Overall, a great property and very quiet community. Would love to stay again!
