We now offer a 10 % discount off the nightly rate for weekly and monthly stays and other discounts for mobile, early, and last minute bookings in the months of September -March.
-Our completely renovated house with a fenced backyard is centrally located 1.8 miles south of the Surf City pier, restaurants and shops, offering a less crowded beach experience due to no public parking nearby. Beach Access #28 is located just two houses down and across the street, so you are just steps away from enjoying the best that our beautiful beach has to offer.
-Sleeps up to 8! The entry to the VRBO house is up the front steps to the main living area, which contains a living room, kitchen, sunroom/office, 2 bedrooms (queens), and a full bath with shower/tub combination. Close the French doors to the sunroom/office and you have an additional private sleeping area for 2 with the daybed (which converts to 2 twin XL beds or 1 queen). The interior staircase leads to a primary bedroom (king) /bath ensuite with walk in shower and a separate laundry room.
- 3 night minimum stays, except Sunday - Sunday 7 night rentals required in June, July, August.
-When you're not enjoying the beach, you can listen to the ocean waves from our spacious front deck or relax in the private fenced backyard featuring a propane fire pit, Adirondack chairs, stone patio, and Kettler outdoor ping pong table w/equipment.
- Genesis Weber propane grill (new 7/25) and an outdoor shower with hot and cold water are located on the ground level.
-Beach chairs, blankets, sun shades, beach games and toys are stored in bins on the ground level. Beach towels can be found in the laundry room.
-There is ample parking in the driveway for 4 guest vehicles.
-Inside the house, recent updates include: new tile flooring in both bathrooms, new bathtub and surround tile in 1st floor shower/bath combo, luxury vinyl plank flooring, stainless steel kitchen appliances, quartz and marble countertops, ceiling fans, 4 Smart TVs with Sling (blue +orange) and Peacock streaming accounts, Wireless internet, large capacity washer and dryer, Keurig coffee maker, Smart locks for self check in with unique code, and a desk and chair recliner in private sunroom office.
-Large open floor plan allows for family gatherings for dinner and game nights with supplied games and puzzles. Kitchen is well supplied with spice rack, coffee/tea, pots and pans, serving dishes and utensils, Snapware, knives and cutting boards providing you with a great start to delicious home cooked meals in our new convection oven with Air Fry.
-Paper supplies, linens, towels, shampoo, soaps, detergents, and sanitizing cleaning products are provided. A water purification and softener system has been installed in order to avoid "beach water" taste.
--Please note: There is a completely separate apartment on the ground level, which has no access to the VRBO house upstairs. To access the VRBO house, you go up the stairs to the front door off the beach-facing deck. Owners do not use the apartment for overnight stays when there is a guest in the upstairs VRBO house. The apartment may be used occasionally by the owner for a brief stop at the beach. Weâd inform you ahead of time and park in the gravel area to the left of the concrete driveway to be out of your way. Let us know if you have any questions about the apartment and its use.
-Well behaved, house broken pets are welcome for a non-refundable $100 fee. Surf City beach permits dogs on a leash year round. We ask that you not leave the dogs alone in the house unless kenneled and if pets are in the fenced back yard, you will be accompanying them. We provide a dog kennel (Top Paw Folding Double Door Crate, Intermediate Size, 36.5"L x 22.75"W x 24.75"H with a pad), that is stored in the primary bedroom closet. There are 2 dog beds stored in the laundry room to the right of the washer/dryer. Dog bowls can be found in the cabinet above the microwave. All dog waste should be bagged and put into the trash bins. Waste bags dispensers are mounted on the backyard posts for your convenience.
-The house is professionally cleaned and due to Covid protocols folded shrink-wrapped clean sheets and clean towels will be placed on top of the beds.
-The cost of any damage or missing items will be deducted from the security deposit or otherwise collected from the tenant as provided by North Carolina law. Please advise us if you find something not working properly, so we can address it for you and future guests.
-There is NO smoking or vaping inside the house, only outdoors on the front deck or in the backyard where covered ashtrays are provided for cigarette butt disposal.
-We have tried to provide everything that we want in a vacation rental and used top quality materials since this is a gathering place for our family also. We hope that you will make wonderful memories at Ruby Jane's, which honors our wonderful grandmothers.

The house is jointly owned with my son and daughter in law, who live nearby in Wilmington, NC. My husband and I recently moved back to North Carolina after living in Montana and are renovating a home on Lake Tillery. Both our sons graduated from Elon University and now one lives in Wilmington and the other in Charlotte. We wanted to spend more time closer to our boys and their families and have a wonderful place by the beach for our families to come spend time together.

My husband and I visited Surf City and Topsail Island many years ago and fell in love with the clean beaches and the family atmosphere of the island. Since we always travel with our dogs, we liked that the beaches here are pet friendly. Now, after 8 months of hard work to renovate this property, we are proud of how the four of us have transformed the house and are so happy to share it with others.
Voici ce qui rend cet hébergement unique
The location was what sold us on the house. To watch and listen to the ocean waves and the sea birds from our deck chairs is so calming. The sea views from the primary bedroom are a wonderful way to start the day. We enjoy walking the neighborhoods close to the house where you can view the intracoastal waterway and lovely sunsets on these walks. The home's close proximity to the beach access is an added plus. Our peaceful backyard, which was once an overgrown jungle, is now a family gathering place in the evenings around the fire pit.
