Looking for a private, secluded getaway at a most affordable rate you've chosen the right place. Our 3 bedroom 2 bath home offers plenty of space for everyone. Convenient to all outdoor recreation, including Snowshoe Mountain and Silver Creek Ski Resorts. Activities Include snowboarding , skiing, snow tubing, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, trout fishing, Cass railroad, green bank observatory and many more.

If you love the outdoors you will love our home, situated in the mountains with amazing views. If you are a fisherman or hunter you are close to the Elk river, Williams river, green brier river, all offering great fishing and hunting adventures. Pocahontas county is home to the chili festival, road kill festival, wine and jazz festival, blues brews and BBQ festival and Green Bank Radio Observatory-- kids will love this as well as adults! Or just come to relax and enjoy all the amenities of home away from home!

To book the horseback riding and or sleigh rides at Autumn Breeze stables you must make advanced reservations by calling 304- 572- 2262 or email peggy@gauley.com. Age and weight restrictions do apply for horseback riding. If interested in whitewater rafting trips during the summer months email adventure@gauley.com or ask host for more information.

4 Wheel Drive or all wheel drive is required during winter months. Road to the property is a private residential area with steep mountain side drives. These roadways are dirt roads, not paved roadways. Not suitable for Motorcycles unless it is a street and trail bike.

We do allow dogs at our property for an additional fee of 60.00 with a max of (2) This must be pre-approved and added by the owners. Sorry No Cats.

Basement half of this home is locked off. A caretaker uses this section intermittently using a separate entrance. This section of the house may be rented depending on availability. Contact host for more information. Property is equipped with exterior security camera which may be disabled during your stay.

CANCELLATION POLICY:
Travelers who cancel at least 60 days before check in will get back 100% of the amount they have paid. Travelers who cancel at least 30 days before check in will get back 50% of the amount they have paid. Cancellations within 30 days will not receive a refund.

First vacation in snowshoe mountain

Cabin with nice view and very close to snowshoe mountain resort. Just 10-15 min drive. Less than 10 miles to Cass where old train ride to the top of the mountain starts. Property owner very accommodating. Enjoyed our stay.

Comfortable retreat near beautiful Snowshoe

This home is clean, comfortable, well-stocked with everything you need, and conveniently located a few minutes from Snowshoe. We very much enjoyed our 9-day and had plenty of room for 8 people and our dog. John is a phenomenal, attentive host. We highly recommend it. Please note though that the home is on a steep hill. Our cars had no problem until it snowed a few inches and then even our SVU with AWD needed chains to get up the hill. Totally worth it though.

Beautiful Cabin Close to Snowshoe

Outstanding place to stay with only a short, 10-minute, drive to Snowshoe. My family and I had the privilege of staying together at this wonderful, cozy cabin nestled on a pristine mountain side. Perfect for skiing and tubing at Snowshoe! The owner, John, is very responsive to messages and provides an abundance of information regarding the area. Very greatful! The cabin was very spacious for my adult family of six. Compliments for keeping the property nice and clean as well. In short, I was extremely pleased and hope to have the opportunity to stay at this location again. In fact, the experience has made me want to visit again during the summer months. Highly recommend!

Excellent place to get away from it all

Beautiful location and great place for friends to gather. Accommodations were comfortable, and we enjoyed the view from the balcony. John's communication leading up to our stay and when we had questions about our trip was outstanding.

Great getaway

Super helpful host
 tranquil location about 20 minutes from Snowshoe Resort. Perfectly meet our family’s needs to accommodate multiple age ranges for the weekend. Well stocked kitchen for family meals and location was an easy drive to the resort snow activities!

Excellent location for skiing at Snowshoe!

My family and I stayed here for a weekend trip of skiing and tubing. The place was comfortable, clean, and great proximity to Snowshoe. We had plenty of space for 7 people. The host was very responsive and easy to communicate with. We would definitely stay here again!!

Everything I expected

This was an amazing place to stay during our vacation to snowshoe. The owner was amazing and very helpful. The property was kept in amazing condition and very clean. I will be staying at this location again.

Great Spot 10 Minutes from Snowshoe

We had a fantastic experience at John's house. His communication was excellent. He had us prepared with necessary info and what to expect in terms of weather and how to access his place which was important since the area was hit with over a foot of snow during our time there. This was a perfect location for our group of 4 dads who all had their own space. We could have comfortably fit a few more. We had everything we needed to cook good food, play cards, and jump in the hot tub after a day on the slopes. Excellent communication and service from Buddy the plow guy who did everything he could to keep the roadway and driveway clear. Keep in mind if you're planning to stay here during the winter months, you'll need to have 4WD if there's snow in the forecast and plan to get from the house to the top of Snowshoe. If everyone in your group doesn't have 4WD, you always have the option to park cars near the resort entrance and carpool up. We ended up having 1 vehicle with 4WD and 2 with 2WD. All made it up to the house, but we had a little more excitement than we would have liked getting everyone back to the roadway once our trip was finished. This was 100% our own fault, as John clearly laid out the need for 4WD if snow was in the forecast. If we were going to do it again (which we would in a second), next time we'd leave the 2WD vehicles near the resort and save ourselves a headache. Great experience over-all. Excellent communication. Great location.

Best Host on VRBO

A group of friends and I originally planned to make the push out to Snowshoe, then every possible issue that could have came up, happened. To say the least, the weekend didn't go as originally planned. However, the host of this property is a fantastic dude, he was responsive, super friendly, and understanding throughout the entire process. He offered advise, things to do, personal recommendations and was looking out for us the entire time. Looking forward to staying here again.

Book this house!!

Beautiful property and an excellent experience! The location feels very private and tucked away yet it is a short drive to Snowshoe (about 10-15 minutes.) The deck with the hot tub overlooks a beautiful mountain view. Pet friendly was a huge bonus!! We would definitely stay here again.

Amazing cabin - PERFECT location!

8 of us stayed here for a ski trip. The cabin was as described, we loved the full kitchen, basement space and beautiful deck. We will absolutely be booking here again. Great value. Communication with PM was excellent throughout.

Incredible vacation

I wish I could give John10 stars for his communication. From start to finish he goes out of his way to ensure you feel right at home. The views, the people and the peace and quiet are exactly what we needed. Off the charts property and would 100% recommend to anyone for a quiet get away.

Very nice retreat

Owner was attentive and prompt. Location was very good and private which is what we were looking for. House was clean and very comfortable - I would 100% stay here again!
