Thanks Michael for your kind review. You were a great sport and despite the unusual weather conditions you were very thoughtful and well prepared for the possibilities. It was very refreshing to see someone who knew what they were getting into and ready for it, given that it was continuously snowing when you arrived and during your stay. Appreciate you leaving the place in good shape and even turning down the heater when you thought it was plenty warm for you. Thanks!

Hi Gabriela, Thank you for taking the time to write your feedback. We like to hear from our guests so we can make the experience better for our future guests. It's not clear to us why you felt you couldn't communicate with us when needed. As mentioned in the pre-stay communication there are multiple phones in the property and contact phone number is listed in the house manual placed in plain view on the dining table. Other renters who did not pre-arrange for wi-fi have used the condo phone line to reach us and get access. There is also a cell signal booster which should enhance your cell coverage to some extent. Regarding towels, the condo has many towels (12 - 14) for guests to use, in the 2 bathrooms and the master bedroom next to the bed with a sign saying, "Extra towels". The condo was fully cleaned the day before you checked-in. It would be helpful to know where you found dust, so we could alert our cleaning crew. If you are referring to the open decks, they can get dusty from the mountain winds despite our cleaning efforts. Thanks -RK

Renter stayed at my condo for 2 nights and their review is a retaliation to being asked about damage to a massage chair during their stay. While in the condo they broke a full body massage chair and made it completely useless. They never reported it and housekeeping discovered it within an hour of renter checking out. When photos of the damage were shared with them and asked about it, they completely denied it!! Their review is just to slander the host and property as they were called out on their fault for causing damage to the property. I would caution hosts to completely avoid this renter. They are clueless, deny damaging your property and lie in reviews to divert and retaliate. All the points they mention in their review about the condo are baseless and untrue. They came in COMPLETELY ILL PREPARED and lacked basic knowledge of most common things. In spite of having all instructions ahead of time and knowing fully well they are going to a wilderness area where there is no cell coverage or wi-fi outside my condo, they DID NOT bring the instructions and ACCESS CODE with them when they arrived. It is common sense for renters to bring the access code and host instructions with them which the renter didn’t do. They even bothered other residents about getting into the condo. Finally one of our good and kind hearted neighbors had to help them get in. Another instance - In just two days, they used up our entire months' worth of satellite wifi bandwidth, claiming they only used it for texting. How could anybody use 20GB just texting? Renter complains of the loft being too hot. We have provided 2 portable fans in plain sight for them to use. Seems like another lame excuse. The "pretty lake" being worked on is beyond any host's control. It is a reservoir that the county decided to drain for urgent maintenance after this year's heavy winter. There are many more renters who have rented in the community, and they all understand this. This renter chose to complain about it not showing any understanding. Beware of this renter and avoid renting to them!

We too were quite pleased when they decided to return to our property like others who like to come back and were hoping they would have another memorable stay. But our experience has been very disappointing to say the least. After accommodating their repeated change of dates, which we made on the platform for them, which is a self service other guests do on their own on the platform, we had prepared for them to have a good time. At every step we provided accurate information about the weather and snow condition in order to help prepare well. They were coming in right after some of the biggest snow storms of CA history. But they were apparently ill prepared for real snow conditions. Even after we advised that the back road may be icy, especially at night, they chose to drive up and stop on a steep hill after sunset. Our neighbors were very concerned to see their vehicle slipping and sliding and blocking the road for a very long time. In addition to the noise and disturbance at night for neighbors, they were afraid that the vehicle might crash into their condo. The shoveling they did was to clear snow around their stuck vehicle and not for getting into the condo. The steps from the front and the passages to the back had been cleared, with minimal snow as can be seen from our neighbor's cameras. The snow piled up on our kitchen deck is fall off from the roof, which can happen any time, especially as it warms up, if one is familiar with snow. There are two other private decks on the property which were available for their use. The wifi is a satellite network and it is well known that snow piling on the antenna can cause intermittent connection or even loss of signal. But this does not justify the guest vandalizing the wireless equipment by disconnecting the hook up for the condo phone and plugging it into their laptop. The home phone is for us to communicate alerts to the guests and for guests emergency use. Regarding the fee charged, it is still due. The cleaners had to pick up their trash from all around the house and they charge $25 for each bag just for disposal, not to pick up after the guests. The rest of the fee is for further deep cleaning needed because there was a lot of splatter and stains in the kitchen, bathrooms and fridge. We have just passed on this charge to them. None, literally none of our other guests has had this kind of issue with cleanliness. At this time, we would like to mention all the house rules violations that they made. We had overlooked all these in the spirit of accommodating them. 1) They listed 8 guests (which is the max allowed including babies/kids) but came in with 10. 2) They unplugged the satellite LAN and directly connected to their own device taking our condo phone offline. They chose to cut all communication to the condo which is tampering with our equipment. We still communicated to them through the platform to let them know that they should restore our phone line. This is a remote mountain area getting wifi is a perk and not a privilege. 3) They were specifically asked to not connect any more than 3-4 devices as this is a limited data connection. But they had 10 devices constantly connected and used up half the monthly allowance in just 1 day. 4) The check-out time is 11AM and they did not leave the condo until 12:45PM (after the cleaners came in for cleaning and had to leave). They had not requested extended checkout nor did they apologize for leaving late making our housekeeping come back again for cleaning. 5) They didn't take their trash nor did they bother to bag it and left it all around the house, including dirty diapers. 6) They stuffed house towels into a garbage can. I should be charging them for this. With this guest, even during their previous stay, in 2022 they left the house in a very bad shape and did not pay for trash clean up. In fact they left behind their personal belongings which we personally picked it up and hand delivered to them as they did not want to pay shipping cost. We have been a very accommodating host but this guest has taken excessive advantage of that.
