Breaking Away is set up with the Island style in mind, from multiple seating areas on the enclosed lanai overlooking a private pool to the patio's french doors, which when opened welcomes the sweet salt air to the indoor living area. The kitchen, with granite, stainless appliances, and breakfast bar is open to living and dining rooms for a casual family-friendly flow. Nestled in the quiet residential West End of Sanibel, a 6-minute drive will take you to the popular fishing and shelling destination of Blind Pass- the gateway to Captiva Island. An 8-minute drive in the opposite direction leads guests to Periwinkle way, the heart of Sanibel Island and the epicenter of Sanibel's shopping and dining. Great property

This is a great property and our adult family stayed for a month in May 2022. The pool area is fabulous, the kitchen is well equipped with plenty of good quality crockery, china and glassware. The neighborhood is quiet and it’s just a short walk (~400 steps) to the beach at the end of the street. Be aware that the property owner has furnished the property with white cloth covered sofas, so red wine was avoided by us while we stayed in the house. The only negativity is that neither of the two master bedrooms, one of which faces directly onto the main raised deck seating area, has any curtains or blinds, so there is zero privacy between the bedroom areas and the main raised seating area. Also be aware that the pool guy, who turns up each Tuesday, does not announce his presence and breezes directly into the pool area without any warning. He also leaves the pool area door wide open while servicing, so take care your dog (if you bring one) doesn’t escape. All of the other service companies were very courteous and let us know they would be entering the property. The pool area drains were mostly blocked while we were there, not usually a problem unless there is heavy rain, when 3 inches of water will accumulate under the lower deck area, so recommend keeping anything that is water sensitive off the ground, even in the lower covered area (like self inflating life vests). Sanibel has plenty of wildlife, including scorpions and frogs which found their way into the pool. The Internet service at the property is first rate with 300 MB/s download rate, more than enough for family streaming services. The house is beautifully decorated and very stylish. For once the advertised photographs of the property really do it justice. Our family appreciated the nice little library of books and the collection of puzzles and games. We had a great time and would be very happy to return.
