Full apartment separated from lodge with private entrance, outdoor patio, hot tub and private lake dock. Large bedroom with queen bed. Pull out queen sofa bed in living room. Tiled full bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, living/ dining room.
Starlink, free Netflix, DVD, movies, games.
Lodge resides on 40 acres with 2.5 acre lake at its center.
Cottage also available. See Nighthawk Lodgings LLC, cottage at VRBO and Facebook.
Local activities include hiking, water falls, skiing, fishing, hunting, bird watching [I've identified 56 species on the property], mushrooming [great chanterelle area]. Surrounding towns have antiquing, wine tasting, bakeries, restaurants.
I grow a variety of organic fruits, berries and vegetables available in season.
I produce all types of charcuterie, cheese, sourdoughs, ferments, preserves in house for friends and guests. Product inventory changes often. Platters available upon request.
Dogs can not be left unattended at any time, crated or not.
Massages available from friend and neighbor. Details in unit.
I meet with guests upon arrival to review property details.

The apartment was great and the whole property was beautiful. Very peaceful but not too far out from town. Great location for some really good close by hikes. If you stay here I would highly recommend ordering one of James charcuterie spreads, it was amazing. I would recommend to anyone and would stay here again.

Beautiful setting, clean, quiet. My daughter and I booked this as we were attending a horse show at the Monroe fairgrounds for the weekend and didn’t want to stay at a hotel. Unfortunately we were at the fairgrounds from 6:30 to 7:00 daily and didn't get to enjoy this lovely space as much as we wanted to. Would love to come back in the summer and enjoy the lake.

Relaxing Getaway

My friend, our two dogs, and I had a wonderful stay at the NightHawk Lodge. We loved the scenery, enjoyed the hot tub, and had a wonderful evening tasting the delicious charcuterie that James creates. Overall wonderful stay!

Sultan Serenity!

Visited this amazing property for a quiet, July 4th getaway. I found the property, lake view, and general surroundings peaceful and restorative. The apartment is well designed and appointed. The gardens and grounds are phenomenal. James is a gracious, kind host, and talented human being. Loved my stay here!

Beautiful property with plenty of things to explore. Well furnished apartment, and the host was amazing. Friendly and courteous. He even messaged us when we were out and about the surrounding areas that he was playing music and if we returned just message him and hed turn it down. Great place to stay, we will definite be renting here again on our next trip through.

Fun birthday weekend

The property host was really kind and communicative with everything that was expected. We stayed about a day and a half and were able to get a really relaxing experience! We sat by the lake and hung out in the hot tub after going on a hike nearby, it was a really nice way to enjoy a birthday. Absolutely recommend!

Cute apartment on lovely property

The apartment itself was nicer and more spacious than we were expecting, which was a nice surprise. We had some issues with directions but host was able to help us resolve. The apartment is directly below where the host sleeps and is probably best suited for people who go to bed on the earlier side of things. All in all, a great stay.

Comfortable and cosy

Property was comfortable and well furnished like a home away from home. Good selection of cooking materials and condiments. Hot tub was fantastic. James is very helpful and accomodating if assistance is required or if you want to be left alone. Location is easy with instuctions nprovided. Sultan is small but enough. Fuel,,food,supermarket and a few pubs. Sadly weather was pretty ordinary but place was warm, wifi good and hot tub wonderful!! Thanks james..

Perfect Getaway

Everything we hoped for and more! James is a wonderful host and made sure we felt at home! The apartment is spacious yet cozy. Everything was well maintained, clean, equipped and comfortable
 and the property is stunning! One of the most quite, and peaceful places I’ve ever stayed. The space has a private lake, hot tub, beautiful gardens, and trails that make this a great place to just stay and relax in privacy, as well as a great base from which to explore the region! There are many amazing hikes and scenic mountain drives in the area with stunning waterfalls, rivers, glacier lakes, fishing & swimming holes, mountain peaks and old-growth forests. The charming town of Sultan is close by with some great restaurants, bars, and boutique shops. James provided us with maps and lots of great tips for local activities. We would definitely book this space again and highly recommend! Thanks for a great stay, James! Johnny & Angela

Beautiful & Secluded

We had an awesome experience during our stay here. The host cares about your privacy not just with himself but with the cottage rental across the lake. We spent our evenings by the lake listening to the wildlife.

As a retired builder, developer, I enjoy continuing landscaping, fruit, berry, vegetable growing. I produce many varieties of charcuterie, cheese, ferments, sourdoughs and preserves. I take advantage of the local mountain hiking, fishing.

Voici pourquoi l’hĂŽte a choisi cet hĂ©bergement

I bought this 40 acre property in part due to the 2.5 acre unadulterated lake at its center as well as its seclusion. I built the lodge, also my home, about 18 years ago. I sculpted the grounds with extensive soil amendments for organic food production and landscaping.

Voici ce qui rend cet hébergement unique

I named the property after the Common Nighthawk who migrates from southern South America to nest here in summer. They are the longest migraters in the bird world. Their acrobatic maneuvers are unprecedented as well as their unique behavior of plummeting toward earth, then pulling up to create a loud boom which is produced by their wing bone structure.
I've identified 56 species of birds on the property and am familiar with the local plants, shrubs and trees.
The Pacific tree frog and other indigenous amphibians proliferate in the lake. The frogs sing us to sleep with their prolific mating songs in spring and summer.
The lake is surrounded by a peat bog of varying vibrant varieties as well as wild cranberries, Labrador Tea, Sundews-our carnivorous resident-and plants unique to peat bogs.
Many species of wildlife live here. Bobcat, black bear, cougar, mountain beaver as well as water beaver, otters, red squirrel, deer.
Mushrooming is as good as it gets. Chanterelle, boletus, lions main etc.
