Such a cool historical place to stay with friends!! Town was super cute! Would definitely stay again

Owner was amazing! Loved the house/hotel and being able to rent the whole thing. Great outdoor space! Loved reading the history behind the hotel!

Pennie is so knowledgeable about the Hotel Tarde and it’s history. We loved running this property and will definitely be back learning the history of the hotel made it even more special.

Nicest 170 year old place I've ever stayed in

The house is in amazing shape for being built before the Civil War. Plenty of room for everyone, and the dining table seats 14! We all enjoyed our stay very much, and the hosts were very attentive and friendly.

Hotel Tarde is the best!

Pennie was a phenomenal host! We could not have asked for a host to have been more responsive and helpful during our stay. Even for the little things. We loved the Hotel! We were able to host my daughter and her fiancé’s rehearsal dinner and have a place for all 11 bridesmaids to get ready the next day. Next time we need a large place in Castroville or near SA, Pennie and Hotel Tarde will be our first choice! Thank you Pennie for making our accommodation’s perfect.

Historic place to make historic memories!

Hotel Tarde was a new experience for our friend group. We visit Castroville every year for the St Louis festival, which was within walking distance from hotel(1/4 mile). Everyone had their own room, but shared bathrooms, not problem if you’re close friends. There was plenty of room to gather and enjoy conversations. The kitchen was great for having our drinks, snacks and meals. All the bedrooms had comfortable beds. The owners are great and super friendly. They apologized about not turning the AC down earlier to start cooling this large place down. It stayed pretty warm and was the only real comment our group had about the hotel. We know that Pennie and Josh are so very conscientious about their place that they will have that figured out for the next stay. We would definitely do this again! Thanks for everything!

We purchased this iconic historical hotel in July 2021. We are truly blessed to be able to reopen this gem for the world to see. Many historical resources, information, famous civil war hero's and others have stayed here. We love to give a tour and share the history with our guests. Our family picture is from the Dec 2022 Candlelight Tour of Castroville. Our family opened the doors to the community and beyond for a night we will all cherish for a lifetime. We hope you choose to stay at our beautiful historic hotel and make memories of your own.
