Hvalfjarðarsveit Cottage with Large Wooden Deck, Mountain View + Great Location

Remote, quiet location, yet only 40 minutes from Reykjavík.
Our Cottage is located in West Iceland with a view over Lake Eiðisvatn, the Hvalfjörður fjord and the spectacular mountains around the fjord.
It's behind the small village of Melahverfi, which is signposted on the ring road and around 15 minutes away from Akranes.

In autumn and winter, this is also a good place to watch the Northern Lights.
Although the view is wonderful, you can't help but see an aluminium plant a few kilometres away. We don't mind this sight - we live in our house next to the Cottage.

Our cottage has a spacious living, dining and kitchen area, 1 bathroom (sink, toilet and shower) and 2 bedrooms. In one bedroom can sleep 3 people, the other 2 people.
The large veranda with panoramic view also invites you to linger.

You can park your car on our property directly in front of the parking sign for guests.
The path on the left side leads past our house, directly to the Cottage.

Kathryn and Klaus have done such a nice job that it made it hard to leave. The place is restorative and we hope to return. Fully recommend the location outside of Reykjavik but near enough to jump to interesting places.Also notable birds included a short eared owl, Snipes and Godwit nearby.

Lovely cottage with a gorgeous view

The cottage was accurately described. It's in a beautiful location with amazing views. Conveniently located to get a head start on a drive around the Snaefellsness peninsula. The hosts are friendly. Communication was easy. Would definitely stay here again.

Perfect getaway

I stayed at the property for 4 days as a quick getaway. Property is perfectly located to get that quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Amazing views and very peaceful stay , just what i needed. Super clean , great location , and the owners were super helpful with detailed directions on how to get there. A perfect getaway.

Wonderful Cottage

We only had a short stay, but the host was just fabulous! Very clean and well cared for, spacious enough for a family of 5. The cottage was so charming, we wished we had longer to stay. When we have to opportunity to return to Iceland, we will try and stay here again.

Great cabin!

This was the perfect home Base for our first trip to Iceland! Great shower pressure!! We cooked many of our meals in the small but well stocked kitchen. Definitely book if your considering!

We absolutely loved the cozy cottage( great name). It was clean, well stocked with most things we needed, peaceful, beautiful scenery, quiet, comfy bed, nice hot shower. We were extremely happy with our choice for our first two nights in Iceland.

Perfect end to a wonderful trip

My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The location is great - peaceful and serene yet easy access to multiple destinations. The cottage is charming and nicely appointed - had everything we needed. We enjoyed sitting in the comfy furniture and gazing out at the view. Hosts were delightful and had some great recommendations. Already planning to return next year with my husband and we will definitely stay here.

This little cottage is a tiny bit of heaven. So peaceful and relaxing with views all day long - no matter the weather. Room for 5 people, comfy beds, complete kitchen, everything is ideal. The only fault was we couldn’t stay longer!

Home with a view

This home is spacious and clean with a fantastic view. The open concept living room with windows all across the front is a perfect place for family to relax after a long day of exploring. The kitchen is large and fully equipped to prepare any meal. I would highly recommend this property for a family of 4 or 5 people.

Beautiful view, cute and functional cabin!

This cabin was a fantastic home for us in Iceland, and our hosts were so welcoming! We made meals and there were plenty of tools and pots/pans. The beds were comfy and the bathroom was very functional. We were nice and warm and loved the view! We were there in May so it was light very late and the shades made the bedrooms plenty dark to be able to sleep. Were I to return to Iceland, I would absolutely stay here again!!

Our cottage is ideally located for active people who want to enjoy the comfort of staying in one place, while being able to see various places of beautiful Icelandic nature, as well as being close to the city's culture.

Only one and a half kilometer away form highway 1, countless spectacular places can be visited.
