À propos de cet hébergement

Historic Townsend Riverfront Cabin | Hot Tub + EV

CONSTRUCTION NOTICE: The county is currently performing repair and construction work on the historic swinging bridge near the property. Work is scheduled Monday–Friday, approximately 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, through November 2026. During these hours, guests may hear construction noise and may occasionally see workers, equipment, or construction vehicles in the area. There is generally no scheduled construction on weekends. The swinging bridge will remain closed during the repair period, so guests should plan to drive into town instead of crossing the bridge on foot.

Fall asleep to the Little River a stone's throw from your pillow in a cabin that has been doing exactly this since 1930. Swinging Bridge sits right on the water at our family retreat in Townsend, where guests describe s'mores by the river, kids befriending the goats, peacocks, and horses, and mornings that start with the current instead of an alarm. Nearly a century of history, updated with the modern comforts guests actually want.

The approximately 1,000-square-foot, single-level cabin keeps things simple: relax in the private hot tub, cook at the dedicated grill and fire-pit area across the driveway, fish or wade the river when conditions permit, and explore Great Smoky Mountains National Park from Townsend's quieter side, with a park entrance about 2 miles away and the Cades Cove sunrise loop about 12.

RIVERFRONT LIVING, 1930 CHARM
• The Little River directly out front, with summer swims and tubing guests enjoy daily
• Private hot tub, ready for arrival-night soaks
• Wood-burning fire pit and charcoal grill across the driveway, exclusively for this cabin's guests
• Seasonal propane fireplace, roughly November through April
• Approximately 1.5 acres to roam (the barn is not accessible to guests)
• Private Level 2 J-1772 EV charger
• Resident peacocks roam the grounds and goats make occasional cameos, who appear on their own schedule and steal most of the vacation photos

SLEEPING AND LIVING (FIRM MAXIMUM OF 4 GUESTS)
• King bedroom: 1 king
• Double-queen bedroom: 2 queens
• Twin bedroom: 1 twin
• 1 full bathroom with a tub-and-shower combination

The extra beds buy flexibility, not capacity: because of the cabin's age and structure, occupancy is a hard maximum of 4 registered guests, no exceptions at any price. The reward is uncommon breathing room for a foursome. The living room adds an HDTV, board games, and fast Wi-Fi, the kitchen pairs an induction cooktop (compatible cookware provided) with a Keurig Duo, and the in-unit washer and dryer handle river-day laundry.

EXPLORE TOWNSEND AND THE SMOKIES
You will be staying in Townsend, known as the Peaceful Side of the Smokies, giving you the best of both worlds. Great Smoky Mountains National Park is right at your doorstep, with an entrance approximately 2 miles from the cabin and Cades Cove about 12 miles away, while the attractions and entertainment of Pigeon Forge are within an easy scenic drive. The area offers a quieter home base for river recreation, hiking, wildlife viewing, cycling, fishing, and Appalachian history, with big-day-out adventures never far away. Actual travel times vary with weather, road conditions, park traffic, and seasonal tourism.

RECENT GUEST FEEDBACK
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ July 2026 | Stayed with kids
We had a wonderful stay at the Swinging Bridge home! It was exactly as described in the listing. The home was very clean, tidy, and well-maintained, with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We really appreciated how well-equipped it was and how easy it was to settle in. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to stay.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐April 2026 | Stayed a few nights
This charming cabin was the Smokey Mountain experience we were looking for. We wanted quiet and peaceful. River front. Fire pit and seating on the river. Even a hot tub. The cabin was well stocked. Sitting by the river after a day of sightseeing was wonderful. The hot tub was ready to use from the moment we arrived. Parker was extremely responsive. Even a gas fireplace for one chilly evening.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ April 2026 | Stayed a few nights
Our stay at Swinging Bridge cabin was perfect. The cabin was spotless and the communication with the owner was wonderful. There were plenty of fluffy towels, the beds were comfortable, the kitchen and bath were supplied with everything you needed. We enjoyed sitting and enjoying the sounds of the Little Pigeon River. Would definitely recommend staying here.

THE NAME
The cabin takes its name from the historic pedestrian swinging bridge that once crossed to town from this bank. The county has since closed the bridge for repairs, so the walk into town is a piece of local lore for now; plan to drive the few minutes instead.

A FEW PRACTICAL NOTES
Four steps lead up to the front porch, and the tub edge is higher than standard. The river is natural and unsupervised, enjoyed at your own risk. Peacocks are magnificent and occasionally opinionated after dark; light sleepers should pack accordingly and consider it part of the farm-stay charm. Quiet hours (for humans) run 10 PM to 8 AM. Cancellation terms follow the policy attached to your reservation, and we recommend travel insurance for every trip.

ABOUT YOUR HOSTS
Swinging Bridge is part of Peacock Paradise Vacations, a family-run collection of homes my husband, Oz, and I personally love and care for. We want each stay to feel easy, comfortable, and thoughtfully prepared, so you can spend less time managing logistics and more time letting a 1930 cabin slow you down.

We are a family of 4 who love adventure and enjoy sharing some of our favorite places with you! From the ancient Smoky Mountains (did you know this mountain range is the 8th oldest in the WORLD?!), to the gorgeous white sands and glassy waters of the Florida Panhandle/Emerald Coast. Parker is an award-winning mortgage loan originator specializing in helping families start their short-term rental portfolios, while Oz is a "retired" Electronic Engineer, who now spends his days tirelessly working on each of our properties to keep them in great condition! Our daughter Taliesin who is headed to college has been involved in design and decor and our son Zolin who is still in high school just might be the one to answer your message or inquiry. We are emotionally attached to each of our properties (even though we aren't supposed to be lol) and we truly hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

Voici pourquoi l’hôte a choisi cet hébergement

Choose Swinging Bridge to stay in a piece of Townsend history that still earns five-star mornings. Built in 1930 and thoughtfully updated, the cabin sits directly on the Little River, close enough that s'mores by the water and daily summer swims fill guest reviews, and kids come home talking about the goats, peacocks, and horses more than the Smokies themselves.

The cabin hosts a firm maximum of 4 guests; limiting occupancy protects the historic structure, and reservations exceeding 4 cannot be accommodated at any price. The reward is uncommon breathing room for a foursome: a king bedroom, a two-queen bedroom, and a twin bedroom mean everyone chooses their own space, with one full bathroom, a living room with HDTV and board games, an induction kitchen with a Keurig Duo, in-unit laundry, fast Wi-Fi, and a private Level 2 EV charger. Outside, the hot tub waits by the river, the exclusive fire pit and charcoal grill sit across the driveway, the seasonal propane fireplace warms roughly November through April, and about 1.5 acres invite slow wandering.
