Specific "Do not miss" attractions:
1) The Kaanapali Beach is a 3-mile stretch of white-sand beach with calm, clear waters. It's a great place to relax, swim, snorkel, or go stand-up paddle boarding. 2) Black Rock is a 165-foot cliff at the north end of Kaanapali Beach. It's a popular spot for cliff diving, and there's a daily ceremony where divers leap off the rock into the ocean. 3) Kapalua Coastal Trail is a 4-mile long paved trail that runs along the coast of Kaanapali and Kapalua. It's a great place to go for a walk, run, or bike ride. 4) Wheller's Village is a shopping and dining complex with over 100 shops and restaurants. It's a great place to find souvenirs, do some shopping, or just people-watch.

Terrific location and accommodation

One of the best stays you could ask on Maui. The condo was suburb: accommodations, view of the beach, restaurants and shopping.

The pictures did not do the property justice. It was absolutely beautiful. Quiet and accessible to the whalers village shops and restaurants. The beach was clean and so close. The bed was mostly comfortable. One side seems to have more use. The kitchen was upgraded and well stocked with utensils and dishes. Ice maker was appreciated. The stackable washer iand dryer in the hall was available when we want d to use and the room was stocked with laundry pods. Great water pressure!Would definitely look forward to staying here again!!

Just what we wanted

From communication prior to arrival, ease of check-in and convenient parking, it couldn’t have been easier. Host provided everything we needed for a short three night stay for water adventures and hiking. Location is close to many restaurants, bars, shopping and rental equipment if you desire. Daily excursion can be booked in the lobby, truly everything my wife and I needed. Great trip

Lovely stay!

We had a wonderful stay at this condo. Ideal beach location with chairs provided. We were able to cook meals with the full kitchen, and it is right next door to many restaurants and shops as well. Saw lots of whales from the balcony. Unit was clean with all necessary amentities and felt very updated. Really no complaints for our 5 night stay! We came for our babymoon and loved the proximity to everything. We would love to return.

Great location and view

We were very happy with our stay here. The condo was very well equipped, including beach chairs and a cooler. The patio offers nice all day sun and sunset views of the ocean and beach, with a beautiful view of the resort pond and greenery, and soothing sounds of the fountain and birds on the property. We were appreciative of the well equipped kitchen where we often made breakfast to start the day. We found the bed very comfortable. A few times we reached out to Lori by message and she always responded quickly. But more than anything else, you cannot beat the location right on the beach and boardwalk, with many restaurants and shopping options nearby. We boarded our sunset cruise on the beach just a couple minutes walk from the condo.

Perfect Spot for Two

We've stayed at the Whaler before with family in larger rentals, and this spot was great for just the two of us. We had one small issue with the screen door but Lori got us in contact with her property manager Karen, who was lovely, and repaired the mesh where broken. If you have any needs not met in the space it seems that Lori and Karen both will go out of their way to make sure it's provided. We had a lovely week!

Everything we needed!

I was highly impressed with how well stocked the place was! I contemplated bringing my own battery operated candles but decided not to- too delicate and a bundle, but she had some!Also camp chairs, plastic bags all the stemware we needed, pre made ice, loads of hangers, and other things I know others will want like snorkel gear. Fantastic and super communicative! Great location. Thank you Lori!

Great place to stay in Kaanapali

This is our second time staying at this property, and we love it. The property manager checked in several times to ensure our stay was going well, the check-in process was seamless, and our apartment was very clean. The location is just perfect. Having stayed in Maui nine times, this is the absolute best location. Right beside Whaler's village, and a few steps away from some of the best restaurants and shops on the island. Right on the beach, and also has a beautiful pool and hot tub with amazing staff. HIGHLY recommend! We will be back :)

We loved Ka’anapali and the location of this condo!! So many beaches and restaurants close enough that we only needed a car for golf on the north side. The condo itself was ok. Advertised as having an umbrella but there wasn’t one. They rented for 45/ day so this was a big miss. The shower/toilet room smelled of urine so we left the fan on a lot. The bed is ancient and could use an upgrade. Hair dryer and iron/ironing board are also ancient and were a chore to use. The staff were amazing and the grounds were great. Since we only slept in the condo I gave it 4 stars. Had we needed it for more “stay in” time I’d go with a 3.

We had a great stay!

This condo is stunning and the ocean view and resort amenities really won us over. Before booking I read through all of the reviews and decided to book based on the older reviews which are all really good. I trusted the owner when they said the issues in the most recent reviews were resolved. We didn’t encounter any problems during our stay, the owner was very communicative, the resort is stunning, the place is nicely remodeled and we plan to book again next year!

Nicely remodeled, prime location, great view

Throughly enjoyed our stay in this newly remodeled unit in the prime location of The Whaler at Kaanapali! Beautifully re-done inside with a great view outside of the lovely courtyard and of Molokai and Black Rock. Unit was well stocked with the essentials and the owner was very responsive to our questions. The Whaler staff delivered great service. We would definitely return. Mahalo.

Just one flaw otherwise very nice

The one flaw is a charge I received on my cc for 233.52. Upon checking it was for amenities charged by Whaler. Supposedly the checkin process should have mentioned this, it was not mentioned. The property owner also did not mention this; totally surprised. It is under dispute as I write this review. Aside from this hiccup, the lodging was very nice.Lori, the owner, contacted us and answered all questions that we asked. The lodging was clean, well appointed with new appliances and overall very welcoming. The ocean view was absolutely stunning with a nice lanai with seating/lounging available. The bed was comfortable and there were plenty of plugins for our electronic devices! Her renovation was well done. The only small, very small negative was the size of the toilet/shower area. It is small vs what we were use to.You shouldn't hesitate to book this property.

Owner needs to be more upfront with paying guests!

This unit has a rodent problem, do not leave food on the kitchen counters as you will find holes in plastic bags etc. Owner was notified and their response was to double the amount of traps that were existing in the room when we showed up. Clearly the owner knew of the issue. Unit is over-priced and payment terms are very one sided towards the owner. First bad experience we have ever had at the Whaler.

Disrupted Stay

The Whaler is a lovely, quiet complex. Although this condo has a few nice features like updated countertops and a nice ocean view, it was poorly maintained. Examples include: a moldy shower curtain and shower curtain liner, drapes with extensive mold and tape holding the hem up, unclean silverware, dirty toaster that needs to be replaced, a dresser in the closet the has a drawer with a broken base, significant carpet stains, and the presence of a rat-sized rodent that we encountered on our second night of our stay. The rodent chewed through two sealed plastic bags to get to unopened biscuits. When we contacted the owner with our concerns the next morning following our rodent encounter, she was quick to send her cleaning service. The housekeeper replaced the shower curtain and set out rodent glue traps around the condo. Feeling uncomfortable staying in the condo with all the unresolved issues and a live rodent, we chose to vacate the premises and request a refund from the owner. We were charged for the two nights we stayed in the condo and refunded the remaining five nights of our reservation.
