Waterfront Escape with Hot Tub

Welcome to the Round House at Madrona Cove. So named for the beautiful madrone trees located here. The Round House is a perfectly round home, on a serene piece of waterfront property just outside of Friday Harbor. Rumor has it that it was listed in earlier editions of "Best Places to Kiss in the Northwest".

The Round House features two bedrooms, each with their own Queen Sized Bed. The master bedroom features an ensuite with slate shower and the spacious guest bath boasts a tub and shower, just outside the second bedroom. Wake up to a hot cup of coffee and enjoy the view from the expansive windows overlooking the cove, or catch the sunset while soaking in the hot tub after a day of exploring.

The great room and deck are great spots for viewing wildlife. Bald Eagles are frequently seen on the property or flying overhead. Many seals call the rocks out front, home. A variety of water birds frequent the cove year-round as well. Come, be our guest and escape from the day to day and take in a piece of the island life.

Perfect stay at The Round House

The Round House is just lovely! The location is great and the views are amazing. The house was clean and well equipped for cooking almost anything. I highly recommend this lovely property.

Mothers Day surprise

The house is located in a very quiet area, only disrupting part was the seagull fighting. This is the second time we have stayed in the round house and look forward to the next opportunity. If your looking for a place to get away and unplug, this is your place.

The house was clean, well stocked and had a lovely view. I would HIGHLY recommend the owner buy a new mattress for the bedroom with the adjoining bathroom. They put a topper on a saggy mattress. I ended up sleeping on the floor. Luckily I brought a sleeping bag. Still gave it a 10 review as this is easily resolved.

Lovely!

The Round House was very cool! Easy to get in, clean, fairly well appointed compared to other rentals we have used. But the best part was the VIEW!! Sitting on the deck or in the hot tub it was beautiful! We saw bald eagle and seals from our seats on the deck. The grounds have a lush wild look and feel. It’s a bit of a walk into Friday Harbor but super easy on e-bikes.

Incredible place, Incredible host!

I’ve stayed here several times and I just have to say Thomas is one stellar host. Access is a breeze, the house is very well maintained, stocked to perfection and the view demands that you unwind, relax and take it all in. Every time I checkout I’m already planning my next visit!

Great house - well outfitted, spectacular views

The house is wonderful! Great views - I enjoyed sitting in the hot tub watching seals lolling on the rocks just off shore! Nicely and tastefully furnished, well stocked kitchen. We loved using the wood burning fireplace. Nice touches, like robes provided to facilitate running out to the hot tub. Comfortable beds; excellent hot water.

Perfect!

The view at this property makes you think you need nothing else- but if you do need it, it is provided at The Round House. The house was spotless with all instructions clearly marked. Going in the off-season made this property perfect! It is just far enough out of Friday Harbor to enjoy the peace but convenient to all areas of the island. Great place!

Comfortable house on the Bay

We loved the property! The separation from others was great...the quiet, beautiful bay was serene. We were not informed until we arrived that the deck doors were not to be used. The hot tub is great...using the jets does pop the breaker but that is easy to reset. Overall we had a lovely time and would go again!

Get away with friends to a place we've never been

The house and view were stunning. We loved all aspects of it. If i were to make any recommendations it would be that the big french doors be fixed. It was warmer while were there so to be able to open them would have been great. Other than that it was a beautiful place. Would definitely recommend to anyone to stay.

Awesome space but difficult communication to property manager.

I cannot say enough about the location and the property. The house was awesome and the view was amazing. Totally stocked kitchen and nothing we could have wanted that was not provided for. Clean, spacious and comfortable. On the negative side we were not informed of planned power outages which was formally announced weeks prior to our stay which effected use of overnight medical devices. The steps to the water were not usable and the deck doors which were broken some time ago were not usable. The most disappointing part was the lack of communication from the property manager. Owner should consider a different company to improve the overall experience. The owner's other contact was helpful and accessible and did assist when there was an issue with the internet due to the power outage. Would definitely stay there again in the hopes of a change in property managers.

We were very disappointed to see your remark on the property management. Any communications received, were replied to. The only time you didn’t receive a quick response was your rude and impatient message of “Hello?????”, which was sent in the wee hours of the morning. I told you that we had not been informed of the power outage ourselves and had told you about the stairs to the beach were ‘use at your own risk’ as we are on a waiting list for repairs, as well as explained what was happening with the French doors, due to repeated guest abuse.

Just like the pictures

We did enjoy our time in this truly unique house. I came home with pictures of the beautiful wood ceilings in the dome shape. It would have been nice to use the curved fireplace as the days and nights were chilly, but there was no wood or pressed logs to use, and the double doors out to the deck were unusable (under the threat of $5000 repair job "on all doors", which needed to be explained). I imagine that in the summer if those doors cannot be opened, it's going to be really hot in the main room. The hot tub worked great. The stairs down to the water were roped off for no entrance. It was fun watching a seal from the front windows play in the water. We did enjoy the house and was a one-time stay there for us. We especially enjoyed the wild life on the island (the rabbits and foxes in the field by the redoubt for American camp, and the sea lion gorging himself on a giant octopus by the lighthouse on the west shore). Vinny's and Downriggers had delicious food for take out. We enjoyed the picnic tables all around the island for lunches. Don't miss doing some of the wonderful hikes on the island. Enjoy.

Unwelcome At Best

We were pretty disappointed with our stay at this property for our honeymoon. Positives first: the view is incredible. It's close to town and situated beautifully. Cattle Point, South Beach and Lime Kiln are AMAZING!!! So if you're just looking for a place to sleep while you adventure and enjoy the island you'd be fine! But we intended to spend some time relaxing and assumed things that were reported broken or non-working in at least June 2023 would be fixed...I guess that's our fault for assuming but there were no repairs. The hot tub was still not working, the french doors were unusable and had a note saying they were broken by previous guests, and the stairs are still missing. The interior was run down with old, uncomfortable couches with sheets over them and electronics from the 90s. The window coverings were stained or bent and some unusable. The home did not have a pleasant smell to it especially in the bedrooms. The notes in the bathroom and the "welcome" book ultimately left the impression that guests really aren't welcome there. Overall, the owner or property manager is pretty checked out on maintaining and updating the property and it's not worth the money until they do unfortunately.

Close to Perfect

The property was idyllic, the island was lovely, the home was near amenities but in it's own world... and right on the water. You could get everything you needed in town and all the basics were on the property. I hesitate to even mention the thing that detracted because I think it was a function of being there during thanksgiving... when we arrived we could get the hot tub to work, but not the hot water... and the property manager didn't respond to our inquiry about it (again.. .thanksgiving so I wasn't shocked). The only reason I bring it up is... that was one of the things I explicitly searched for in a property, so it was a bummer that we couldn't use the hot tub during our stay. When it gets fixed... the hot tub has an AMAZING view, so I think others would really enjoy it.

Fix Those Stairs!

Beautiful property, quiet and private. Kitchen is VERY well equiped for any type of cooking. Was disappointed with the access to the beach (one of the main reasons we chose this property). Property owner needs to repair the stairs to the beach access. It is unacceptable to do a "PATCH REPAIR" on something so important as stairs! If you would like my skills in this endeavor, call me. Thanks for the visit!

Round house by Friday Harbor

We'd stayed here in its pre-VRBO days, so excited to be able to stay again. The location and house are great. Do watch out for the doors opening to the deck though - they were out of commission when we stayed, having been damaged when they caught the wind when left open. A few extra towels would be helpful, too, if you'll be using the hot tub frequently.
