Check-in was easy. I looked for the Garage Door Opener (GDO) to unload my car (I'm a solo, female traveler... this was one of the MAIN amenities I look for.) The GDO was missing. I called the contact phone# (this is the BEST way to contact someone, as there is quite a delay in responding to emails/text messages... emails I sent before arrival RE:parking went unanswered .) I was told that the previous tenant had taken the GDO and there wasn't another available and nothing that could be done except to park in the guest parking, which is in front of the building directly in the main gate entry area. (It was full on Saturday.) No other compensation was offered. I made the garage work by using the button attached to the garage wall, and I would use the front door to get access. After unloading my car, I noticed both bathroom counters had some sort of dried substance on them (one had a hair.) . And the kitchen counters had it too. I was able to scrub it off easily with a clorox wipe, and did not bother to complain about this, since it was an easy fix and the rest of the apartment seemed mostly clean (minor crumbs in the fridge.) For the cost of the cleaning fee though, I expected better. The instruction manual for the rental says that you are to lock the front door any time you leave. I made sure to do that by locking both deadbolts from the inside and then leaving through the garage by pressing the button on the wall. When I got back to the rental ~10pm, I parked at the garage door, walked to the front of the unit, and used the key to unlock the door. I learned that there is only ONE keyhole on the front of the door but there were TWO dead bolts. With no way to unlock the 2nd deadbolt, and no GDO to get inside-even with the apt key in hand-I was locked out. I immediately called the contact# and was put through to Nitzelle, who was AMAZING and took great care of me! She called emergency maintenance who was able to let me in around 11:30pm. I found out 5 days later this was a $150 fee, for which I was surprisingly charged half. ($75.) And which I paid... unhappily. (a GDO would have prevented all.) Garbage was also poorly communicated about. The manual is unclear, and after no response to two texts, I drove around to find the complex dumpster. I was eventually told via text to leave it in apt, 40 minutes after I left.
**PROS: VERY comfy bed, safety/gated, quiet building, great location, décor is LOVELY.
*I would love to give this VRBO a second chance.
