Great Family Get-Away, Walk to Beach & Restaurants, Big Fenced Yard
"Paws & Relax” in this one-level, 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom home built in 2021. Come and enjoy this modern and comfortable home in it's first rental year. The open floor plan makes a perfect family gathering place for entertaining, dining, watching TV, playing board games, and just enjoying family time. The large fenced yard gives your pooches a great place to play.
The kitchen has modern amenities and all of the standard kitchen equipment one may need to host their family including drip coffee maker, toaster, blender, all the cooking and baking essentials, 16 qt stock pot, dishware & flatware, dishwasher, and refrigerator/freezer with ice maker Due to the airy and spacious open floor plan of the main living area, the cook of the family is sure not to be left out of the fun.
The bunk room offers two twin over full bunk beds great for the kids. The other spacious guest room offers a queen bed and large closet. Both guest rooms have easy access to the shared full bathroom with tub. Right off the main living area is the primary guest suite with a king bed and private bath with walk in shower and huge walk in closet. There are smart TVs equipped with Fire TV and streaming service for viewing local channels and basic cable in all of the bedrooms as well as in the main living space. Netflix and Hulu are included.
The entrance to the large screened-in porch overlooking the big fenced in yard is just off the kitchen and main living area. Outside you will find patio seating, a picnic table for outdoor dining and charcoal kettle grill. The front and back yard are nicely landscaped with beautiful old live oak trees.
All bed linens and guest towels are provided. Bedding includes fitted sheets, flat sheets, and pillowcases that will be freshly laundered and placed in a bundle on each bed and lightweight comforters or quilts. Since we are not overly strict regarding dogs on the furniture and beds, blankets are not provided so guests are requested to provide their own pet blankets to cover couches and beds. A washer and dryer are also available. Reliable and fast internet service is provided to enable guests to stay connected. Beach chairs, a beach umbrella, and beach cart are provided and located in the garage. Guests are also invited to store their own beach stuff in the garage, however cars are to be parked in the driveway only. The driveway can accommodate up to 3 vehicles. Please do not park on the grass as it may cause damage especially if wet.
The home is located in a tranquil and wooded neighborhood but still close enough to hear the surf at high tide. The beach access is located a short walk (approx. 4 blocks) at the end of the street. At the other end of the street, you will find the Oak Island Nature Park with butterfly garden, picnic area, and fishing pier. And within a few blocks, you will have your choice of several restaurants, shops, and ice cream parlors.
Other things to know: - Minimum age requirement to rent is 25 years old - Events and parties are not permitted. - Self check-in with key pad - Hand soap, dish soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, dishwasher detergent and laundry detergent are provided - A supply of toilet paper, paper towels, and garbage bags are also provided to get you started, but guests may need to restock during their stay - Events and parties are not permitted and we kindly ask that guests respect quiet hours between 10pm and 8am. - No smoking in the house, garage, or patio. - Cleaning and providing charcoal for the grill are the responsibility of guests. - Updated 9/12/22: a doorbell camera was installed for security purposes. It is the only exterior operable security camera on premises. There are no interior cameras.
Special note on parking: From April 1 to September 30, visitors will need to be prepared to pay for parking at public beach accesses. Cost is $5 per hour, $20 per day, or $80 per week. Special note about pets: Guest understands that this property is pet-friendly. If Guest desires to bring a pet or pets, they must disclose this in advance to host and pay necessary pet fees. A pet fee of $100 is required, 2 dogs max. Due to owner allergies, cats are not allowed. Dogs must be housebroken, well behaved, non-destructive, and contained in Guest provided crates when unattended. Guest MUST clean up after their dog(s). Guests who are not travelling with pets understand that previous guests may have brought pets and even though every effort is made by the cleaning company to keep the interior clean and free of hair and dander, there may still be small amounts present. Therefore, Guests who have allergies to dogs understand that this rental may not be right for them. Any Guest who is caught bringing a pet without paying the pet fee agrees to pay DOUBLE the customary pet fee and may be evicted from the property if Guest refuses to pay the fee immediately upon discovery.

This house was perfect for us and our pups! The large, fenced-in backyard with outdoor shower was ideal. The front porch also has a gate, which was handy. A quick drive to Oak Island restaurants, shops, and the beaches. Quiet neighborhood, large driveway, and fully stocked kitchen. Modern fixtures and furnishings, very clean, and plenty of space for a large family or two smaller families.

Sue’s place was charming and the perfect location. We enjoyed being able to easily bike to the grocery store, to get coffee and donuts and to the dock at the end of the street. The house was clean, had everything we needed and my kids got great entertainment from the robot vacuum. We would 10/10 stay here again.

Sue has the most lovely beach cottage! She has thought of so many family & pet friendly extras. The kitchen is well stocked with everyday needs. Very nice screened deck & fenced yard. Perfect Oak Island Getaway!
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Paws and Relax! The house was clean, comfortable, and had everything we could have possibly needed. Great location for a short walk to the beach and nearby restaurants/stores. The only thing that could have made our stay better is to have been there longer! 100% recommend!

Great pet friendly vacation
Paws and Relax is the perfect name for this beach house. We travel with our dogs and the fenced yard was such a nice feature. The house was just as described and super clean. It was so peaceful to sit on the screen porch but also be close to the beach, Publix, and restaurants. We will definitely be back for a return trip.

I chose Oak Island to buy a vacation rental property because of its family and dog-friendly beaches, close proximity to Wilmington and Southport, and great area attractions. I hope you enjoy your vacation at my property and fall in love with the Oak Island like I have.
