The Space:

Your Perfect Black Hills Adventure Starts at Thunder Ridge Loft!



Located in Lead, South Dakota, just a few miles from Deadwood, this fabulous new home sits high above downtown Lead and features a charming 2-bedroom loft above the garage—perfect for a family or small group. Step out onto the deck just off the living room to enjoy stunning views of the Black Hills. It’s the ideal spot to relax, watch for wildlife, or savor your morning coffee.



Main Level Highlights

Living Space: The open-concept main level includes a fully equipped kitchen and a cozy living room with ample seating, a flat-screen TV, and patio doors framing breathtaking mountain views. The breakfast bar seats 4.

Outdoor Living Space: Step onto the front deck directly from the main living area, where you’ll find a small patio table and 2 chairs.

Laundry Room: Conveniently located in the bathroom and equipped with a full-size washer and dryer.

There are taxis in town that will take you to Deadwood.

Such a great experience! The rental was clean, with new floors, comfy furniture and a well stocked kitchen that made cooking at home super convenient. It was high enough in the mountains for beautiful views, peaceful sunrises and nature sightings, but close enough to walk to the grocery store, etc. We hope to come back in the future!

Beautiful Location

The property was clean and well-maintained. We drank coffee on the deck and saw deer and turkey every morning. We had a peaceful and relaxing stay!

Awesome Little Getaway

We will definitely stay here again should we come back to the area. Was the perfect size for a quick trip. The place was clean, had the supplies we needed (the basics) and most importantly the owners were so friendly and accomodating. We have wildlife come right up to the steps - so cool! Just a great hideaway, feels like you are in the wilderness a bit but yet so close to town!

June Getaway

We stayed here last June for my birthday and everything was perfect! The size of the loft was just right for my fiance and I and the layout made everything feel spacious. We loved the views from the balcony. I got engaged on this trip, which made everything even more special and magical! The host was easy to work with and responded instantly with any questions we had. I would highly recommend that everyone stay here for an amazing South Dakota experience!

Great Hilltop Location

Very nice second-floor condo with large open kitchen/living area. A deck offers a nice seating area on which to enjoy the beautiful view of the woods and any wildlife that may be passing through. Access to the condo is via an exterior staircase.

Stairs an issue for arrival and departure

There were 2 areas of concern. 1. Stairs to entry were steep and narrow. Getting our belongings in made us nervous. So on departure I purchased a rope and lowered our belongings down over the front deck porch. Note: I am 79 and my wife is 70. 2. Bed and living room furniture were not comfortable. I would recommend this VRBO but warn about the 1 & 2.

Birthday Celebration

The property was overall clean and worked for what we needed and we would stay here again. The doors, especially the bathroom door, need the hinges greased. It made a horrendous squeak when opening and closing. The description didn't detail that the property was on a steep hill and the neighborhood was very winding to navigate through. We ride motorcycles and was hoping to bring a trailer, which the property does not allow (this was not apparent in the original listing). Luckily we were in the area a month prior during the rally and determined we wouldn't even be able to get a trailer up to the property comfortably.

Disappointed

Most importantly it was extremely clean. We had several issues with the house such as had to have toilet fixed 2nd morning because it constantly ran, the sliding glass door was extremely difficult to lock, the bar stools were too low for the island and dangerously unstable ( this is the only place to eat), there were no lamps in any rooms, no nightstands in bedrooms ( too small) and coffee cups were micro size. We should have contacted the rental agency about the problems above but I waited until I got home. They were super responsive about the toilet. The view from the deck is pretty but we had thought the house was a little more isolated. We could hear cars and dogs barking. There was only 1 light blanket to use on the deck; several thick, warm blankets would have been great. We went to dollar store and bought 2 coffee mugs and left them for future guests. The beds were extremely comfortable. My friend and I have met in the hills x 3 and have never been disappointed before. Unfortunately, it just lacked the ambiance we were looking for.
