North Star Retreat: Fully Renovated, Duplex-Style Cabin on Beautiful Somo Lake

North Star Retreat is a lakeside duplex-style cabin located on beautiful Somo Lake, in Tomahawk WI. Vacationing with a group but need separate spaces? This completely renovated cabin is for you! Each side has a full kitchen, living room with smart TV's, and full bathrooms. Fully remodeled in 2021, the cabin has all new mattresses, bedding, appliances, and more! Newly added windows in the main living room showcase panoramic lake views and spectacular sunsets. The two units are only available to be rented together as one large cabin, and the two sides connect via doors in the kitchens (next to the refrigerators, see photos).

We have a large parking lot to accommodate your trailer, so bring your boat, ATV's, or snowmobiles! North Star Retreat is located directly on the Northwoods Passage trails (Zone 1) and next door to the boat landing. Less driving, more adventures!

Perfect for kids, the sandy, walk-out beach is steps away and includes a boat dock and stamped concrete patio with fire pit. Somo Lake is a 400 acre, full recreational lake with clean water. We provide many amenities to make travel with kids easier - pack n plays, monitors and more.

North Star Retreat has completed the Lincoln County Department of Health inspection, and is in compliance with all Lincoln County Zoning short term rental requirements, holding the appropriate permits.

Great Time!

We had a great time! This place was perfect for our family. The grand kids had fun playing in the sand and on the beach. Fishing from the dock was great. The kayaks and paddle boat were great too! We loved this place so much, we booked for next year!

The place was perfect. Right on the lake with kayaks and a paddle boat. Kids were able to fish right off the pier. The kitchens were stocked with everything needed and beds worked out perfectly for the 14 of us in 4 different families. The place is so clean and organized. Going into Tomahawk and Minocqua for dinners and activities was easy too. Highly recommend!

Perfect lake place

It fit all of us nicely, plenty of bathrooms, lots of parking with our boat trailers, comfy beds and having two full kitchens was so great! We loved sitting around the fire pit every night. My nephew caught a lunker right off the dock! We would definitely come back again.

Perfect Family Getaway

Our family had a fantastic week. The duplex was perfect for our extended family. We each had our own bed but yet we could enjoy each other’s company in one home. Everything was clean and modern. The kitchens and bathrooms were stocked well and the outdoor area was kept up nicely. The view is wonderful and the lake was not too busy. Already booked for next year!

Wonderful Family Getaway

This property was perfect for our group of 13. Everyone was able to have their own space, yet we were all together under one roof. The home was very clean and had everything we needed. The view of the lake is beautiful off the deck and the firepit was nice for evening fires. The parking lot offered enough space for our vehicles and boat trailers. Would definitely recommend.

Duplex highlights near Tomahawk

Terrific location, best lake view we've ever had "Up North", very good and comfortable beds, clean kitchen and bathrooms. Kayaks were used numerous times and were appreciated. Nothing negative only wished we could have stayed longer. Thanks, Ron & Barb

Great Place to Stay

Loved the size of the house which included enough bedrooms for 6 couples to each have their own room. The place would be great for two families to rent and each have their own space as it is a duplex connected by a door through each kitchen. The outdoor space wasn't the best for playing lawn games as it was a bit small but the dock and nice lake made up for it. It is pretty close to neighbors on both sides but overall it was a great place to stay! The owner was also very responsive.

Very happy!

Our family vacation was awesome! This place is a 5 star vacation spot. The cottage is very clean. Large enough for a larger family. Everything you need is provided. We had family ages 3 weeks - 75 yrs of age, and everyone enjoyed the place. There is a wonderful fire pit and a nice beach area. There are small rocks in the water, however the kids wore water shoes and all was good. The view from the cottage is beautiful! The owners are wonderful! Communication is great!

Slice of heaven in Tomahawk

We came to Tomahawk with 4 couples to ride Harrison Hills and Parish Highland trails. This cabin was the perfect location for all of us. We had 3 trucks and trailers and there was plenty of parking. The parking lot is lit up at night and was very easy to find. We did contact Laurel the night we arrived because we seemed to have a problem with lights in the kitchen. It just so happened her husband was on his way up and he would stop in. Mike stopped in. He walked right over and showed us the dimmer switch. No of us had ever seen anything like that and we aren't that old;) That was the joke of the weekend. The cabin was immaculate and had everything we would need. We had an awesome time on the trails and had a fire in the firepit on the last night. Thank you for opening up your beautiful cabin to us. We will back!!!
