Welcome to The Sanctuary! Gorgeous Church Revival

Experience a truly unique and romantic getaway at The Sanctuary, nestled in Downtown Staunton! This charming home features three bedrooms, two stunning bathrooms, and even a functional bell tower, ensuring your stay is one to remember. Situated in the heart of Historic Staunton, you'll have easy access to a vibrant dining scene, local breweries, vineyards, and a variety of entertainment venues. Plus, it's just a short drive to the Appalachian Trail, where you can enjoy scenic waterfalls and hiking, or head over to the picturesque 151 Corridor.
Inside, you'll find three cozy bedrooms, two full bathrooms, and a fully equipped kitchen. One of the bedrooms is furnished with queen bunk beds, perfect for additional guests. The spacious patio offers plenty of seating, a fire pit, and a grill, making it an ideal spot to unwind and enjoy the view. If you need extra space, an additional two-bedroom apartment that sleeps 6 is available.
For your convenience, there's a keyless entry system with a code, and an app to access the main doors. Street parking is available on the road in front of the property, either to the right or left. Please note, do not park in the lot at 920 W Beverley, as vehicles will be towed.
Though I live about 30 minutes away, I'm available if you need assistance during your stay.
The Sanctuary is perfectly located in Historic Staunton, with shopping, dining, and entertainment just a short walk away. For more distant locations, you can easily use ride-sharing services like Uber.
Please remember, parking is only available on the street, and parking in the lot at 920 W Beverley is prohibited.

Everyone in our group was charmed by this property. It provided a beautiful and comfortable place to stay and relax--all conveniently located close to restaurants, shops and attractions (many within walking distance). Great communication with the host, too. Will definitely consider this property when we return to Staunton.

Gorgeous space!! Very clean and fully stocked with anything we needed. The fireplace was such a nice touch for the chilly evenings. Our family had a wonderful time and can’t wait to visit again!

What a place!

Such a stunning space to stay! Valerie was promptly available for whatever we needed. We enjoyed our time in this beautiful environment thoroughly and would definitely stay again if we are ever in the area.

Perfect Girls Getaway

This property was spacious, well appointed and perfect for 3 friends to get together. Local artists had their work displayed and available for purchase and the renovations to the chapel, while maintaining some of the historical properties was perfect. I highly recommend and will visit again

Celebrate a friend

We had the pleasure of visiting this beautiful place while celebrating the life of a dear friend. It’s spacious and unique. The parking isn’t the most ideal but we had no issues finding a spot. This place is so lovely. I look forward to staying again!

Unique property-great location!

We had a lovely weekend stay in this home. It has a huge kitchen and living area that worked perfectly for a family brunch. We had a student graduate from JMU and it couldn't have worked out better! Wonderful large gas fireplace, kitchen had all the necessary cooking items. Cute back patio! Host was super responsive and helpful. Highly recommend!

Great place to stay!

The place was exactly as pictured/described. We enjoyed our stay very much. The place was beautiful and everything was very clean. Beds were comfortable. Valerie was a great host and was very responsive to any questions we had. The parking is not ideal as it’s street parking but we were aware of that before booking. We were parked for 3 days with no issues. Staunton is a fabulous place to visit and staying in The Church made our weekend get away even more special.

Enjoyable stay

Property was amazing and was exactly as advertised. The host was very accessible and communicated everything thoroughly. Be mindful that there is no parking available in front of or behind the property, but there is on-street parking nearby. Also, if you book the Sanctuary and are there with young kids and/or pets who like to play and jump around, be mindful that there may be a guest in the basment portion. Loved this property and that it's dog friendly. I would absolutely stay here again and 10/10 recommend this place to others!

A gem in the city

Do not pass this one up! We stayed here on the weekend of my son's wedding. An easy walk to downtown. The place was a complete delight. Three nephews stayed with us. We all evaluated the art on the wall. Great green space out back. The light coming in the windows was glorious and the birds singing was a real treat too. We really enjoyed our stay. The church bell was fun to ring! Beautiful renovations!

Don’t Hesitate!

What a fabulous property! As others have noted - parking can be a bit tricky BUT you can walk everywhere. Once parked, just stay there We had a fabulous time with our local friends and family coming over to play games and eat meals while we were in town for a post-holiday gathering. So fun. Couple of little things with the door opening but quickly resolved! Will 100% stay here again - just maybe not in snow season!

Comfortable, beautiful, unique

We loved our three day stay at the sanctuary! The renovation of this historic church is beautiful and provides very comfortable spaces for guests. Its location on Beverly Street is ideal for walking into downtown, past the beautiful historic architecture of Staunton. Communication with the owner was very easy and fast, and accessing the building & unit electronically was very simple (note there are steps required to reach the building and unit). We visited during leaf season and really enjoyed walking around downtown, visiting shops, going out to eat and taking in the scenes. We will definitely be coming back!

Beautiful place to stay

This is a newly renovated property and it shows! Clean and bright. A former church, the ceilings are high and the spaces are open, with amazing natural lighting. Ceiling fans allow for plenty of air circulation if you are there in the summer. Everything painted white with comfy furniture and plenty of space to spread out. Also has a lovely outdoor space. Beds are comfy and the contact person always answered within minutes of my reaching out. Highly recommend for a large group (we were six) especially. Kitchen appliances also brand new, which is a lovely if you like to cook (which we do). Short walk to the downtown shopping area. Great space, great choice.
