This cozy cabin is located on the Swan River nestled between the Swan Mountain Range and Mission Mountain Wilderness at mile post 42 on MT Hwy 83. It has a full furnished kitchen and propane fireplace. The queen bed, dining set and sofa bed are all in one open room. You can enjoy beautiful views, a BBQ or camp fire right out your front door with plenty of space outdoors. Hiking trails and lakes are nearby and if your interested in a day trip, Glacier National Park is100 miles away. This is a perfect location for family reunions, weddings, hunting parties, etc. when combining your reservation with our other cabins, camp sites, R.V. spots, river site and community hall reservations. Swan Valley Cafe located across the highway is available for event catering as well. Missoula and Kalispell airports are both about an hour drive away.

This cabin is nestled back in the woods along the Swan River. It was very magical. A lot of birds singing in the roar of the river behind it. It was very quiet at night.

The cabin is cozy and comfortable and the kitchen is equipped with the basics. The setting is so peaceful and attractive especially the mountain range. We truly appreciated the patio table with an umbrella and the grill the hosts make available. Patricia and Mike are very welcoming and helpful hosts. And the general store they run along side the cabins has much of what you need to enjoy a few days in the mountains.

Check in and check out was not very organized. The outside pictures make it look like the cabin is way farther away from others than it is. Floor layout is awkward and uneven.

The cabin itself was clean and as presented in description. However, the name "Riverview" is deceiving. The only view of the river is when you are sitting at the table. The yard needed to be mowed and the bank between the creek flowing to the river and the cabin was extremely grown up. The closest dining was approximately 20-30 minutes away so I recommend stopping to eat prior to arrival or bring groceries to cook (the kitchen was fully stocked for cooking). The internet was out while we were there. The person who checked us in let us know that upon check-in. Based on what we were told this is a common occurrence. There is no cell reception at this location, so make sure you have printed driving directions to where you are going since cell service is spotty in this area.

Not Well-Cleaned

I noticed a light layer of dust on kitchen appliances and a little food residue on the counter at first. Not a huge deal. But then I noticed the grubby microwave door exterior and started taking a closer look at things. Grubby fridge and freezer handles, stove top not recently wiped off, LOTS of cobwebs, some not well cleaned silverware...and more. I took photos of disturbing bedding and unclean bathroom surfaces and other details that were missed by whomever cleans the place. The back side of the shower curtain was splattered with something. The place is rustic, which is fine, but the towels were old, faded, and mismatched, the curtains sagged a bit, and some of the microwave buttons were well used, but functional. I slept in my sleeping bag on top of the bedding.... There is a couch with a fold out bed for additional guests, but hardly any room for that bed. I looked for instructions on rules and what I was responsible for cleaning, but didn't see anything. I decided NOT to clean what was left by previous guests and took photos instead.

Outdoor space not as private as expected

Nice cute cabin. Be aware that outdoor spaces are shared with other nearby cabins. The Gentlemen running the general store is very helpful but their online Vrbo site is not as helpful as others with check in and out and other details. I have faith that as they use vrbo more they will make it more user friendly. We did enjoy our stay.
