Dear Madge, Thank you for staying with us as we value each guest that we have the pleasure to host. We do appreciate your feedback and continually make every effort to improve the property. We are disappointed that your expectations were not met, as we accommodated your urgent booking due to your emergency as your original rental was cancelled. It is our standard procedure to greet each guest at the house and conduct a standard walk through to ensure our guests see first-hand how to operate all areas of the home, including the home theater, sauna (new unit), fireplaces, and more! We were disappointed that you denied this service. We were also surprised that the house manual, which gives extensive directions on how to operate everything from the blue tooth in the living room to the theater system were difficult for you to understand; again, this is why we like to have our guests meet with our property manager. As you put in your review, he is worth 5 stars! Melvin is outstanding and made every effort to tend to all your needs, making several personal visits to the property just for you. It is also important to note that we also broke our house rule for you, as you were aware that our rental is not pet-friendly, by allowing the service dog in the home, only finding this pertinent information out after you had booked the house. Again, you needed this house due to your emergency and we were trying to be as accommodating as possible. We knew that this was important to you, so we did not pursue requesting cancelling the booking, having the dog be placed elsewhere during your stay, or instill any fees. The house is a unique property that is spacious and private with all your basic accommodations. It is our goal to make it as enjoyable experience as possible for all who stay! We are dedicated to providing our guests with an excellent experience and providing a less than satisfactory stay saddens our team. We encourage guests to voice their concerns to our team upon discovery, as we understand that sometimes unexpected things may occur. We assure that when given the opportunity, we try our best to remedy any situation. Safety of our guests is a priority, and the doors being unlocked upon your arrival was for your convenience; please know the house is outfitted with outdoor security cameras and a security system for your safety. We will be proactive in the future to notify our guests of this convenience. It is also standard procedure to include a liability waiver, which serves for the whole of this unique property. Please understand that the outside accommodations are also weather dependent, and the grand staircase leading to the river is over 150 steps and the landscape is a wooded hillside. We have taken the necessary actions to address your concerns when communicated, and have also installed (2) new water heaters and updated maintenance supplies to ensure a better experience for the future and would welcome the opportunity for you to stay with us again.
