Park in our private pull thru parking area and walk over the beautiful lighted walking bridge that leads you to the cottage. We wanted to create a place for our guest to enjoy; relax & feel at home. A queen size downstairs bedroom; queen size upstairs loft bedroom; full size kitchen; dining area; full bath with walk in shower; TV/WIFI; wraparound covered porch; private outdoor shower against hillside; private hillside two person hot tub; indoor loft hammock; outdoor covered back porch dining area; outdoor hammock. Enjoy the large 12x12 outdoor hammock in the front yard area and build a fire in the large outdoor firepit area.

We have enjoyed staying at this property, and the Red Dog Chalet, next door several times in the past. We always enjoy our stay and the thoughtful hospitality by the Cools. The Red Dog Cottage is our go to when visiting family in the area.

Charming cottage!

This place was a gem! We were blown away as soon as we pulled up. Photos didn't do it justice and we were pleasently surprised by how charming, clean and well kept this place was. Shawn was a wonderful host and communication was excellent. There was plenty of space for our truck and trailer and we were able to ride from there to the trailhead. Love ending the day sipping a cold beverage on the porch relaxing to the sound of the creek.Highly recommend and hope to return soon.

Peaceful retreat!

The Red Dog Cottage is second to none! It is more beautiful than the pics show! The owners are wonderful and provide the best hospitality. We had such a fun time riding trails and coming back to the cottage to relax and unwind! Highly recommend staying at the Red Dog Cottage!

Family get away

Awesome place to stay, very clean, accommodating owners, peaceful, quiet, owners are close if you need anything it is provided quickly. Hot tub to relax in, close to town, riding trails in W. Virginia are just minutes away and very exciting. Just can't say enough to describe this cottage you won't be disappointed. The W. Virginia Mountains are beautiful!

What a "Cool" Cottage!

The Red Dog Cottage is absolutely amazing! By far the nicest and best kept VRBO that we have ever stayed at. It had everything that we needed for our riding trip and is in a great location for single track riders. The hot tub was a wonderful surprise and very relaxing after a long day of riding. The Cool's are wonderful hosts! We appreciated the pre-arrival call and all of the information they provided. Their attention to detail, design, and the work put into the property is quite impressive.

The property continues getting better!

This is my third time staying on the property. We prefer the cottage over the chalet if you can pay more. We like the extra space and primary bedroom on first floor. Both properties got a new addition (hot tub)! The property also got more swings and a jumbo net. This is a beautiful sanctuary. Your cars and atv are extra safe here. The host couple is amazing. You will feel true southern hospitality from them.

The perfect cottage!

My wife and I stayed at the Red Dog Cottage for our wedding anniversary trip. The cottage and surrounding property were beautiful and meticulously cleaned and groomed. My wife and I enjoy riding ATVs and this location was perfect for that, being only .5 mile from the Hatfield McCoy trail entrance. The property owners are wonderful people and the love they have poured into this property is immediately evident the minute you set foot on it.

Little Slice of "Heaven"

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We came down to ride the trails but from the moment I booked this reservation, I couldn't wait to see the cottage in person. It didn't disappoint! You can tell the owners put a lot of thought and heart into this place. It's feels like home away from home. Loved!

My wife and I have been married since 2013. We purchased 2 acres of land to start building our home together. Working full time then building in the evenings.

Over the years, we have built our barn which you can see from the cottage. Our red golden retriever loves the barn which we use as our workshop so that's how Red Dog Barn got it name.

Last year, we wanted to create a place for people to enjoy and feel at home. We started in the late summer of 2021. We worked through the winter months to have the Red Dog Cottage ready for people to stay by Spring.

We hope everyone will love it as much as we do.

Every time we travel, my wife is always looking for a place that is different from anything else. This is how our cottage was created... We have built it and put our hearts into a place that we would love to stay at. Our indoor loft hammock; spiral staircase; private wooded outdoor shower area; wrap around covered porches; outdoor dining area; outdoor hammock is absolutely beautiful at night with the wooded area surrounding you and the rope lighting makes it perfect. Free WIFI with enough channels to keep you busy if you decide to stay in and just relax.

What is unique? We love it because you have two entryways for private parking. Beautiful 30ft lighted walking bridge over a stream leading you to the cottage. We want our guests to open the door and say WOW!!
