Ideally located on Pelee Island’s North Bay, Forest & Feather Lakehouse is a magical cottage getaway that features stunning views of the lake. Situated on nine acres of bird-filled, Carolinian forest with a gorgeous walking trail, this charming four bedroom cottage is an idyllic island retreat for reconnecting with nature, friends and family. Starlink Satellite provides high speed internet!

Wake up to birdsong and enjoy your morning coffee on one of two large decks with waterfront views. Swim in the lake. Walk to The Dog and Goat restaurant for dinner on the deck. Relax with a glass of Pelee Island wine on the deck as the sun sets. Get lost in a good book (there’s lots to choose from at the cottage!). Make memories by the bonfire.

Forest & Feather Lakehouse was built in the early 20th century by a ship's captain who operated the Pelee Island ferry for decades. Set on a beautiful treed lot, the classic, light-filled cottage offers unparalleled lake views. The cottage is a Sears Craftsman kit home built on part of an original subplot created before Pelee's marshes were drained in the late 1800s.

Inside, the living room has two large picture windows for viewing Pelee's sunrises and sunsets, a large flatscreen TV and plenty of comfortable seating.

Guests must bring sheets/pillow cases and towels. Pillows, blankets and comforters are provided.

Forest & Feather Lakehouse is located right in the centre of Pelee's North Shore. Within walking distance are the Dog and Goat restaurant, Scudder Beach Breakfast Bar, Pelee Co-Op Grocery Store, Shack Shop for gifts, the Filling Station for ice cream, the Taco Shack for tacos, pizza, bags of ice etc.

Please note, we purchased the cottage in 2022, so reviews prior to that time were when the cottage was under different ownership.

A relaxing escape

Staying at the cottage was wonderful. The living room is quintessential cottage life, with cozy seating, two large windows, and a view of the lake. Location is great, just a short walk from a delicious bakery and the marina and Co-op store. There's plenty of room to relax outside at the cottage, with large front and side decks, and a large front lawn to play on. Pelee Island is a beautiful getaway where you can escape the hustle of life, and enjoy nature and family.

Half marathoners

We were a group of six friends, all doing the Pelee Island Winery Half Marathon. We stayed 3 nights. The weather was warm but with open windows and fans we stayed comfortable. We cooked and found the kitchen very well equipped. The size of the cottage was more than enough for us. Another bathroom would have been great but we managed fine. There are LOTS of movies, puzzles and other indoor entertainment available. Depending on plans most of us were able to get internet and phone reception. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Magical

Wow!!! Pelee island is an amazing little peace of paradise where you can really sit back and relax. The forest and feather lake house is the best place to do just that! Such a cute cozy very well decorated and equipped cottage. We loved sitting on the front porch reading listening to the water in the mornings and then having campfires right by the water at night. There are lots of games, movies and books to keep you occupied. A must read is the Pelee project by Jane Christmas. And we loved the record player so much we ordered the same one! Thank you Christina for letting us spend 5 days in heaven at your beautiful cottage. We will definitely book again next year if not in the fall :)

Wonderful Pelee island vacation

A great location for touring or just sitting by the water. The house was nicely updated & well appointed- a great kitchen, lots of games, books, music & tv. The beds are very comfortable & although there is only one, the bathroom is great. We enjoyed the property and the island

Summer relaxation

We loved our stay at the Forest and Feather lake house. The house is comfortable, tastefully decorated, the kitchen is really well equipped and the lake view from the two decks is spectacular. We could watch all of the ships go by and relax in the beautiful breeze. We highly recommend this property!

Lovely accommodations

We had a great stay at the house. We were greeted with a much appreciated gift basket and a well appointed kitchen. A small grocery and delicious bakery were within walking distance. The large shaded lawn, with plenty of outdoor seating, made for easy outdoor enjoyment. A nice quiet island highly recommended.

This cottage is very well maintained and provides everything you need for a great holiday - books, games, movies, fully equipped kitchen and very comfortable sleeping accommodations. Property owners/managers were a pleasure to deal with and made sure that we had everything we could possibly need. Pelee Island is a real treasure.

Thanksgiving stay

Beautiful property. Charming cottage. Gorgeous view. We loved the large lawn. Walked to the bakery every morning for coffee and treats. Depending on what you plan to cook kitchen may/may not have what you need. Eg, strainer for pasta, cheese grater. Basics were there. Otherwise bring what you need.

Good but needs AC

The property was great and more than enough space for me, my partner and our two children, our daughters father and his wife and their son and dog. View was very nice and close to the main amenities on the island. I would definitely recommend getting air conditioning, besides the two portable ones we had to use in the rooms with the young children - as in the listing it says there are plenty of floor plans to keep you cool, although the fans did not do that and the house was extremely hot and impossible to get a breeze through. House was clean besides when we went to use the BBQ there was a tray of rotted food left, which had to be taken care of before we could use it. Would recommend this listing, perhaps maybe in the cooler weather for maximum comfort.

Pelee Peace

The renting process is easy and the description of location is accurate. Long front yard where you can have a fire but bring camp chairs. Nice to look at the water everyday while walking my dog. Pretty much in the middle for the bakery and co-op. Lots of bike riding and going to the beach for activities. Not much to do at this time because the pandemic rules, but when the rules ease then you can rent water sport items, take a trolley ride around go into the winery for a tour etc... The cottage could have be much cleaner, but the owner hasn't been there with the borders closed. Thank goodness our husband's are handy and we had a spare regulator and propane tank with us or we wouldn't have had use of the BBQ. I found the kitchen could have used a few items. A colander would have been nice and a few plastic bowls for chips and such. Beds were fine and the bathroom was good. General maintenence could have been better but until the owner can come back there were a few things that we encountered that would have been disastrous without our husband's. Overall, we liked Pelee Island and will give it another go sometime.
