Minus the awful musty smell, mold on the AC units, cob webs and bugs on the walls that I had to clean up, garbage under the beds, shower that didn’t drain well at all, it was okay. It was simply a place to stay since we were out most of the time.

Great home away from home with our pets

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Had a great visit with my family and our dogs for 2 weeks. Plenty of space for a family of 4, all the amenities we needed. Love the screened porch.

The condishion of the cookware (even for a rental) is very poor. I recommend bring your own pots, pans, and cooking utensils. The stove-top electric burners are uneven, making cooking with electric even more difficult. The kitchen sink is too small to wash many items. Cooking in this house is more difficult than it needs to be.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Great location & very affordable. Screened in porch was great, as well as the master bedroom & bath addition. Main house could use updates. Was not very clean. Many ants in twin bedroom, our kids would not sleep in it. Kitchen was cluttered with lots of stuff out or hanging that could be condensed to make cleaning easier. Affordable but we will not stay again due to not being very clean.

The cottage could use some updates though. The couch had a strong dog smell (and we stay at a lot of dog friendly properties), the beds were semi comfortable and master bathroom tub was draining slowly. Screened porch was great.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This rental was really cozy and fit the bill for our vacation needs. There are lots of great activities nearby and it’s a central location for many of them. Not sure why the noise ordinance allows construction to begin at 7am in a town that is a vacation destination? Three days straight we were awoken by the banging and hammering of a construction crew working on a deck/addition directly behind us. It felt like the hammer was driving a nail directly into our house!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We love this house and where it is. Has had some major space upgrades since our last stay. Owners need to upgraded the AC in the living room very noisy. They also need to resupply the silverware and dinnerware. The house sleeps 6 to 8, however there was only 4 forks to eat with. You have to resort to plastic utensils and paper plates to get by. Beyond that because of the location and pet friendly status of the house is a winner. We would love to come back to Kate's.

WE love this house, its location, the wind blowing through the pines and the friendly neighbors. We will try to vacation here again if not next season then as soon as possible. Only issues were that it was dusty everywhere/had bugs smashed here and there on the walls. It needs a good deep clean. The master was really nice nice, but we don't believe that the wall unit was working correctly. It was pretty warm in the master bedroom all the time. We did contact the management about it and they brought us an extra fan right away and said they would check on both issues.We would still stay there again.

Pleasant Getaway

Reviewer Comments: This house has a great screened-in porch, where we ate all our meals, and a good-sized well-outfitted kitchen (but we should have brought our small cast-iron frying pan). The only drawback was a strong odor of something like a disinfectant when we arrived. That took a while with windows open to clear out, but as the weather was pleasant, this was easily done.

The cottage was roomy and comfortable and the neighborhood was great for walking our dog (and reconciling him to being cooped up in his crate while we were at the beach). The window shades need to be replaced with mini blinds as well for more privacy.

2nd Time even better than the first

Reviewer Comments: This was even better than the first time because it was in late June. Everything worked fine except that one of the window ACs was spitting out water. A peculiar odor wafted up from the AC in the master bedroom, not enough to make us sick but... It was just the two of us, so washing dishes made up for the reasonable rental fee.
