Exotic Modern Mal Pais Loft Near the Beach

"Casa Dorado" is a modern one bedroom home in a gated retreat community. A brand new home in the quaint fishing village of Mal Pais, it is surrounded by tropical jungle and walking distance to the sea. The home offers maximum comfort and restrained elegance while delivering an exotic Balinese esthetic and comfortably sleeps 3. This modern oasis offers high speed internet, air conditioning in every room and a fully equipped kitchen. Guests will have access to a shared infinity pool.

One of seven private homes that may be rented individually or together.

- Private home within a secure, gated development with on-site security
- Shared community pool
- Master bedroom loft and full bathroom can be found on the second level while the living area, kitchen and laundry make up the lower level
- On the lower level is a sofa sleeper that can sleep two
- Less than a 5 minute walk to the beach and tide pools
- Located off the main road and 2 minute drive to the cross roads at Playa Carmen, restaurants, shops, bank and pharmacy
- 4x4 is not required to access the property
- Fully equipped kitchen and private washer/spin dryer combo.

Mal Pais is found at the southernmost tip of the Nicoya Peninsula on the Pacific Coast.  What began as a tiny fishing village, Mal Pais and neighboring Santa Teresa have become popular among anglers, surfers, and adventure travelers from around the world.

The crossroads of Mal Pais/Santa Teresa is approximately 1/2 mile from the home. Guests typically rent a car (Alamo is available in Mal Pais), quad, taxi or walk.

It is not an uncommon occurrence to periodically be without power or water in this region for a period of time. Sometimes blessings are curses - the very beauty of vacationing in a remote location like Mal Pais means that services many take for granted are sometimes unavailable. There are dogs and cats that live within the development that you may encounter. It is also important to note that in Costa Rica and our community you will likely find the presence of various jungle friends - ants, geckos, iguanas, spiders, crabs, monkeys and snakes.

Ok but needs improvements
Had a great time in Santa Teresa area, beaches were great, town very busy, lots of restaurants and things to do. Pros to this property- good close location to all areas, but we had a car so driving wasn’t an issue for us. Big enough for the 2 of us but would not be suitable for more. Safe area with guard on duty. Cons- could use a good cleaning and paint. There were no kitchen towels of any kind, no towel hooks or racks in the bathrooms. The couch in the living area was extremely uncomfortable and the backrest kept falling off and the pull out couch was old and cat scratched. No coffee table or eating area other than 2 stools at the small countertop. Only one end table in the bedroom and the wood floor in the upstairs was very noisy. The staircase only had a handrail so would be unsafe for small children. Only a toaster oven and 2 burner stove so meals were somewhat limited. Pool was nice but very small, 4 or so people would fill it. Overall we enjoyed our stay but I would not return to this unit.

Quiet location
The check in process was easy. My overall rating was a 4- as it didn't have a 5 star feel. The pool was very small and typically full of people. We drove to the ocean daily as the road to walk there is loud and dirty. The condo was clean and met our needs but the area lacked character.

Great place by the beach
This place is great. The owners are easy to communicate with and the place is adorable. The laundry was very welcome and helpful to have access to. The beach is a short 2 min drive or 8 min walk away and the town is about a mile away. There was security 24/7 which made the property feel extra safe. Highly recommend this property for a solo traveler or a couple!

A lovely abode
Just a great space - bright, well adorned and equipped with everything you need. A great place to chill after a day of surfing or hiking or exploring beaches. We really enjoyed to place and would highly recommend it! Also a great location - Close to Santa Teresa but away from the busyness!

Outstanding Mal Pais Location!!
Very clean, modern condo complex. Very nice people in the community (seemed to be a comfortable mix of residents and vacationers). Great access to beaches and the town. Pool was an added plus at day's end; especially when the monkeys swung by to say hello. Owners/managers were VERY responsive and offered to help in any way they could. A complete kitchen with washer/drier too! Simple and secure parking. Suggest a 4WD vehicle or high-clearance for that part of the Nicoya for peace of mind.
