Le Pélican bleu

The “Blue Pelican” is 2 story home located on the hillside right above Shelter Cove with just a short 5 minute walk to the beach. You will enjoy spectacular ocean, sunset, and whale watching views from every room.
On the first level, is the main living room that opens to the wrap around deck, kitchen, laundry, bath, and large garage. The house has a large screen smart TV, internet, and a warming and cozy gas fireplace. There is a full sized kitchen, including a full size refrigerator, dishwasher, and gas stove.
A short stairway takes you up to the second level where you will find two main bedrooms, both elegantly furnished with king sized beds and a full sized bathroom with a tub/shower. In the oversized closets, you can also find multiple single beds that can be pulled out and capable of sleeping 4 more guests.

Visitors enjoy the local surf spots, lighthouse, tide poles,  black sands beach, fishing, hiking, a nine hole golf course, and simply relaxing in the peaceful and quiet community of Shelter Cove. There are multiple dining options and a local bar. There is also a small airstrip, capable landing small jets.

If the stay is longer than 1 week, there will be an additional $100 mandatory cleaning visit after 7 days.
Extra fees and charges may occur for excessive internet use.
Pets are allowed however only outside

This was a wonderful home. However, it is really remote and the restaurants and shopping are few. We think there is a golf course and of course there is the ocean. If you want to stay right there, it is wonderful but if you want to do tourist things, it far on a windy mountain road to get somewhere else.

A wonderful stay with breathtaking views throughout the day. The property was easy to find, the kitchen was well equiped, the living room is cozy, and rooms were clean. There were plenty of towels. Shelter cove is a beautiful gem and there is a lot of explore. Redwood national park is about 1.5 drive away for us and it made our trip wonderful overall. Please do visit the sweet lady at the lighthouse to learn about the town and walk the airstrip to see the planes up close. We were greeted with a herd of deer every morning and evening! That makes it magical!

We really enjoyed our stay, including time lounging on the balcony with an ocean view. The place had everything we needed, including a comfortable and cozy living room, well-equipped kitchen and roomy bedrooms with excellent quality beds (and views). The beds were a big plus. The hosts were super responsive and friendly. We’d stay again!

I'm going to include the pros and cons because different things are important to different people. PROS: very clean, very responsive property manager, comfortable bed, good location, great roomy floorplan, nice fireplace, washer and dryer, lots of towels, great binoculars, CONS: View is nice but they should disclose that there are utility lines a little above eye level on the main floor. The property needs basic maintenance and repairs and it's lacking extras. There is very little outdoor furniture and it's very broken down and worn out, there are some holes in the drywall and ceiling above both beds, carpet missing where baseboard heating was removed, need bedside table and lamp on both sides of beds. Need a bed frame in the second bedroom. The non stick pans need to be replaced, washable throw blankets and a gas grill would have been nice, kitchen cabinets need to be repainted. Provide better gear for the beach. There was only one beach chair, no beach umbrella. If these basic maintenance and comfort items were provided I would give it 5 stars.

Coastal getaway

We stayed 4 nights and wish it could have been longer. This is a great home. Extremely comfortable bed and couch. Nicely decorated. Very airy but still cozy. Great view and breezes. Will definitely stay again. We had a couple of questions and requests and the host was very responsive. Great all around experience

Perfect house.

Great communication with host. Beautiful view of Shelter Cove and the ocean, looking west. Quiet neighborhood and the neighbor directly to the south was awesome. Very friendly and welcoming. The house had all the amenities needed for our week stay. This was a nice set up. Thank you.

Would stay again! The location and use of a full garage are great. The kitchen is very functional, and there are two queen size beds upstairs in two rooms that are very accommodating. Great communication with the representatives for the property, Natalie and JOSHUA. The only hiccup was that the deposit on the location was an inordinately large some, and I did not like that VRBO offered to offset this deposit with an 89 protection plan that was nonrefundable. As being guests that treat our temporary accommodations at least as well as we would treat our own, of course we received our deposit, although it took 19 days after this stay.All in all, it was a great opportunity after staying in more than five accommodations in the shelter Cove area, and would definitely consider it to be a great choice in the future.
