Stunning villa in one of SD's most exclusive gated communities. 4 bedrooms, office & bonus room upstairs with its own bathroom, projection TV, lots of toys and 2 sleeper sofas. Extensive outdoor space includes kitchen, dining area, living room with fire place, and large pool/hot tub - perfect set up to enjoy the nightly balloon show & gorgeous sunsets. Vegetable/fruit garden, orchard. 12min from Del Mar & Torrey Pines beach and hiking, 25 min from La Jolla, 25 min from Legoland, Seaworld, zoo.

Primary bedroom has a king bed, the kids' room has a full and a twin, third and fourth bedrooms have king beds, bonus room has two sleeper sofas. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms except one, which has a bath across the hall. Primary bedroom has a fireplace, an oversized bathroom, bidet, and a walk-in closet. Large separate office with access to outdoors and two working desks. Indoor courtyard is perfect for scootering and bike riding (included in the house). Small outdoor ping pong table in the pool area. Property faces west and sunsets are spectacular (with hot air balloons) and can be enjoyed from the outdoor dining table, the outdoor living room, or the hot tub/pool.

Nice but could have been better!

This home is “stunning” & is located in a secluded area yet, easy to get to popular sights. We booked it for 1 week during the Christmas/New Year holidays. Unfortunately, we only were there for 3 days instead of 7 due to airline problems. We appreciated the welcome guide Lily provided prior to our arrival. While the cost was higher than other VRBO homes we found, it had amenities we were looking for such as, a private pool, hot tub & an entertainment room with a large screen TV that we knew would be used frequently with the kids & the Bowl games. Sadly we encountered a number of issues during our stay which in our opinion is due to Lily being new to VRBO. The first was a note asking us to not wear shoes in the house. The house has cold, hard tile floors. The younger family members complied with the rule. My husband & I were uncomfortably cold & our backs hurt so we cleaned our shoes the best we could. Thankfully, Lily understood. Had we seen this rule on the website we would have continued our search. Second, when renting one expects an immaculate home. Upon entering the kitchen we were surprised that we had to put away clean dishes that were left on the counter in a dish rack. We understand last minute clean up but, the dishes should have been dried & put away. I contacted Lily because we couldn’t get the sound to work on the projection TV. And, we were unable to pull up any of the stations on the Spectrum account in the family room. After texting we discovered that the speakers on the projection TV “died” & she was waiting for parts. Why were we not informed of this prior to our arrival? Lily tried to help with the family room TV then suggested we contact Isaac. We only had 3 days, who wants to wait even ½ hour for help? Fortunately, I was able to sign into my streaming account & we were able to watch TV. One guest room had a bathroom window that faced the street & didn’t have a curtain. There was a curtain rod so why no curtain? She offered to order a curtain but it was senseless. We placed a towel over the rod. Our granddaughter wanted to take a bath. All the drain stoppers in the master bath were broken but, we were able to plug the tub. We ran the jets & immediately knew it was a bad idea. Black debris shot out of the jets. Disgusting! We have rented through VRBO, etc. Most home owners/rental companies ensure the home is pristine for their guests. This wasn’t the case in San Diego & all issues could have been avoided.

Betsy – I am truly sorry that you did not have a perfect stay at my home like all of my prior guests, though I’m guessing a lot of your frustration is related to your flights getting canceled, and my not granting a refund for the days you missed (I always recommend people buy travel insurance for situations like this). Things break and go wrong sometimes, but what your review doesn’t mention is that I replied to any concern that you had within seconds, and with actionable solutions (from a time zone 9h ahead no less). Speakers to the projection TV broke 3 days prior to your arrival, and I just couldn’t get it fixed in time during the holidays. But I offered for you to connect a portable speaker, or use one of the 2 other TVs. When you couldn’t get the second TV to work, I suggested that you call Isaac, who would have immediately guided you through how to use the remote control, or could have come to the house within 20 min – most luxury hotels don’t even operate with such speed. The speakers have now been fixed. The bathroom curtain has never been an issue, as the small window faces a driveway, and I don’t have any neighbors that can look into the house. Nevertheless, I ordered a curtain within 3 min of your text and there is one hanging there now. The jets in the tub haven’t been used in some time, and I’m guessing the debris is from that. It took one time running the tub to get the debris out. This isn’t something I was aware of simply because I haven’t run the jets in months. I don’t know how I couldn’t have corrected that ex ante, though I am sorry that that was your experience with it. To say that the house is not pristine is unfair – I had a team do a deep clean before your arrival, and have a housekeeper cleaning every nook and cranny literally all day, 6 days per week. The two plates and one cup in the dish rack were an oversight and I apologize for that. Again – I am truly sorry that you did not have a perfect stay. If you look at my reviews on other platforms, each is an enthusiastic 5 stars, and each one mentions that they would absolutely come back and stay again.

Beautiful home, location and hospitality!

Our family of 7 spent 6 wonderful days relaxing at this beautiful home and enjoying all the local area had to offer. We will definitely stay again if the opportunity presents itself.
