Grindstone Lighthouse on Lake Huron Private Beach

Your whole group (of up to 20) will be comfortable in this spacious & unique Lighthouse home in Grindstone City (technically Port Austin MI). You can bring your own boat/Jet-ski & park in our boat slip a few steps out the front door at the marina. Kayak to Turnip Rock, book a fishing charter & enjoy your fresh catch for dinner at the neighboring restaurant, relax at our private sandy beach w/ tiki bar on Lake Huron among so many other fun things around Port Austin, Grindstone City, & Caseville.

This spacious Grindstone City beach house can sleep up to 18 people in beds. With 8 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms and almost 5,000 sq ft you can have large groups without feeling all packed in to one small space. The main level has the master bedroom with attached bath and entryway to living room that wraps around to the large dining room area which is over looked by the oversized kitchen and the entry way leading from the driveway.

There are 4 bedrooms upstairs with a full bathroom that has the shower and toilet area that is separated from the double vanity by just closing a door. Each room upstairs also has its own wall mounted mini-split so you can separately set your AC/heat to your liking. 3 of the 4 rooms all have their own flat screen smart TV’s as well. This upper level of the house is also where the laundry room is located. This home just finished up remodeling in early summer of 2022 with having a vacation rental property in mind therefor making everything thought out with all our guests needs in mind.

The lower level/walkout basement is kind of like a 3 bedroom 1 bath house itself. This spacious fully finished basement has an open concept living room/kitchen area with round dining room table in front of the big bay window and sliding glass door looking out to the beautiful views of Lake Huron. The full kitchen amenities include matching stove, microwave, refrigerator, and dish washer. Just out the sliding glass door is the lower level patio area that is covered by the deck/patio up above. This is where the large flat top Blackstone grill and propane BBQ are located for easy cooking with the open concept kitchen and basement living room just a few steps away.

This beach house has not only our own private natural sandy beach but also a huge spacious back/side yard with a camper/RV power hook up on the pole barn/garage if some of your group would like to stay in their camper in the side yard and still plenty of yard space. A major bonus that we just had custom built in the back yard is our Tiki Bar and two fire pit/gathering areas perfect for the entire family to gather around for some s’mores and a bon fire.

With so much to do in neighboring Port Austin just a short 5 min car ride away there will never be a dull moment. You can rent a kayak and paddle to Turnip Rock for beautiful views or check out one of the biggest and fun farmers market in Michigans thumb area. If you would rather be out on the big Great Lake Huron you can bring your own boat or jet skis as we also have our own boat slip for our guests to use. There are also many different fishing charters that dock in the marina as well. What is very cool about having the fishing charters so close you can see their haul for the day and what they bring back while sitting on our deck. They measure and cut the fish right across the street as well and when you do catch fish on any of the charters you can take it directly next door at the Days On The Lake and they will cook it up to serve it to you for dinner.

The entire house and garage are available for guests to use. The only area we keep locked is a supply closet upstairs and a utility room in the basement. Everything else is included for guest use. We also have a boat slip in the marina just a few step walk across the street for guests to use if they bring their own boat or jet-ski’s.

I am available before, during, and after a guests stay on my cell for guests to text/call anytime.

Grindstone is home to many of the serious charter boat captains and fishing enthusiasts. Salmon, lake trout, steelhead, walleye and small mouth bass are just a few varieties of the fishing opportunities. Port Austin is rich in history and offers a spectacular view of the Port Austin Reef Lighthouse. Turnip Rock is located in Lake Huron just offshore and is one of the great natural wonders of Michigan. This charming village also boasts one of the largest Farmers Markets in Michigan.

There is plenty of parking in our driveway or in the neighboring state park that is just right next door. You can drive into port Austin only a few minutes away and they have things e bikes you can rent to get around town with among many other fun things.
Events & Pets are only allowed with prior approval from management. A special event fee & pet fee will be determined if approved by management & will be based on a situational basis.
