À propos de cet hébergement
Enchanting cottage perfect for a romantic getaway
Our one bedroom cottage is surrounded by nature. We’ve intentionally brought the wild inside, stripping years of wallpaper, paint and separation away and focusing on the organic elements, history, and character. You’ll find a 100-year-old sink, natural fur rugs, old doorknobs, and a space that will allow you to connect with the energy of the land. Those who stay in the cottage will have access to the outdoor gardens, our curated home products, and the peace of misty Washington afternoons.
Bow, WA is a quaint town in the beautiful Skagit Valley. Only a few minutes from the Bay View State Park, Padilla Bay Trail and close to small boutique towns of Edison and La Conner, is known for local flair, small businesses, restaurants and bakeries.
Once you settle in, you might want to head to the grocery store to grab a few of your favorites. Right around the corner is the WD, a perfect corner shop that has all the essentials for a quick stop. If you want more of a grocery store, we recommend heading to Haagen’s in Burlington. They have a beautiful produce, a great wine selection and a wider selection for those staying a bit longer. During your stay, we recommend making a stop at the Corner Pub, our next door neighbor. Not rowdy, but the perfect spot for a good time and an even better burger, the Corner Pub hosts live music for all ages, outdoor seating, and the best brews in town..
House Kinlands is centrally located to visit all the fresh farmers markets, bird viewing, flower farms, the Puget Sound, and the San Juan Islands. An ideal location to access all things within a 20 minute drive.

What a comfortable stay in the quaint Enchanting Cottage in Bow! It’s a great place to just cozy up, stay inside and read, but also a perfect location to ride around and visit what’s available locally. We loved our stay in the cottage, and Jen was a super host!

It is our third visiting this property and we love it more each time. It’s hard to believe that such a lovely sanctuary is a little more than an hour from Seattle. It’s like being transported to a secluded magical farm.

Overall impression of this property? While the lawns were mowed, and edges trimmed, the gardens and many fruit and nut trees were neglected but provided tasty fruit (in mid September). The countryside and surrounding properties are beautifully rural. We enjoy antique and rustic decor. The bed was comfortable and the furnishings were attractive as standalone pieces. We give kudos to the owners who are doing their best to maintain this old farmstead and hope they will continue to invest the rental earnings in its improvement.

Thank you for your review. We’re glad you enjoyed the comfortable furnishings, the rustic character of the property, and especially the abundance of fresh fruit and nuts available to guests during harvest season.
We’d like to gently clarify, however, that what you describe as “neglected trees" are in fact intentionally designed in a natural style to reflect the property’s historic farmstead character. This is not a manicured suburban lawn, but rather a piece of living countryside, where fruit and nut trees have been producing for decades. Guests regularly tell us this authenticity is part of the magic-being able to step outside and pick ripe fruit straight from the tree in September is a rare experience, not a sign of neglect.
As for your suggestion that rental earnings should “go toward improvements,” please rest assured they already do. Restoring and maintaining a century-old property is a continual investment of both time and resources, and many guests recognize the beauty in its balance of preservation and comfort.
We welcome travelers who appreciate rural authenticity and understand that a working farmstead will never feel like a brand-new subdivision. Your comments highlight the very reason many of our guests choose this property: it remains true to itself.

Currently Appreciating: The wild and raw energy of Bow, Washington, which is home to House Kinlands. It’s a place to remember yourself, for dreams to come true, and for awakenings to happen. Plant your feet on the mossy ground and open your hands. Find what scares you, close your eyes, and invite it in.

Central to the Skagit Valley, this is the perfect place if you’re wanting to explore the area's local attractions such as Samish Bay, Deception Pass, Oyster Dome Trail, Chuckanut Drive, Larrabee State Park and so much more (just ask us and we'll give you more recommendations!). Only a 25 min drive west to Anacortes and the San Juan Ferry. Go East towards downtown Mount Vernon, Burlington or head for adventure on the North Cascades Highway. North only 35 minutes to Bellingham and less than 2 hours gets you to base of the Mount Baker Ski Resort for world class skiing & snowboarding in the winter and hiking in the summer.
For those coming for nature and birdwatching, this is a great spot to see the birds year-round and bird migrations in the late fall and mid-spring. This valley is full of life from Herons, Bald Eagles, Gold Finch and Red Tail Hawks to coyotes, whales, alpacas, and horses. You'll also probably spot a rabbit, squirrel, or deer. We can’t wait to hear what you’ve been able to see.
The Skagit Valley and beyond offers plenty of outdoor recreation including hiking, boating, biking, and all sorts of exploring. March & April are also great times to experience the massive fields of daffodils and Tulips with additional local events in April including the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, Skagit Farm, and Pint Roadshow.
Every Saturday starting April through October there are farmers markets nearby in Mount Vernon, Anacortes, La Conner and Bellingham. These markets have both locally grown foods and wares crafted by local artisans. In Mount Vernon there is a makers market one Sunday a month from April through October.
Local events include the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival in April, Race Week in Anacortes in June, the Highland Games in July, and Ski to Sea in Bellingham over Memorial Day weekend.
