This is a beautiful, serene property with the kind of comfort that only a lived-in home can offer. It’s just a 4-minute drive to Trinidad and its beautiful beaches, making it a perfect base for exploring the area. We loved our stay and would happily come back. Highly recommend!

Thank you for the wonderful review. This home was a dream of mine for many years while I was in college. I’m so happy to share the experience with others. All of the art on the walls I either collected from my travels or made myself one winter that I (amazingly) had a lot of free time. I was an avid book collector as well. The redwoods forest speaks for itself. Trinidad does all the rest. One of my favorite places in the world and I’m happy you enjoyed it as well. Please come again

Thanks for your review Nicole. We love the convenient location being in the redwoods but also close to town. You can choose to be in the middle of town in just a few minutes or you can retreat at home for some rest and relaxation. I often pop down to do a loop around Trinidad head just before sunset to enjoy the end of the day. Thanks for your stay

Fantastic communication with host. Beautiful location and very convenient for trips into Redwoods NP. Felt secluded and isolated but also very close to town. Difficult property for kids 3(?) due to uneven edges (fireplace tiling), steep stairs, lots of things to “play with” that probably shouldn’t be played with But worked great for older kids. Beds were fine; but did sag to middle. Carpet on stairs and upstairs was well worn. Kitchen had everything we needed. RO filter for drinking water was so A-W-E-S-O-M-E! Overall made for an enjoyable stay at this location. Thank you!

Loved staying here! The property is in a great location with plenty of room for our family of four. Coffee in the morning on the deck, picking blackberries, and exploring the creek behind the house were highlights. It’s a very peaceful place. It feels secluded but is less than a 5 minute drive to town.

This home is a gem in the forest. If you are looking for a comfortable place to retreat and be with friends and or family- this home is it. It had everything we needed and more. The home was clean. Great home base for visiting the beaches in Trinidad and the Redwoods. We are a family of 4 with little kids, the house is well set up for cooking meals and eating in. The hot tub is great and the property is very peaceful. Our kids counted 40 banana slugs around the yard one morning and we were visited by deer a few times! The house is cozy and well decorated, so we had to move some stuff out of reach and do a bit of baby proofing which we expected. The host is very responsive and welcoming. Overall a great place for a family vacation and definitely recommend!

Clean, cozy, private and perfect location!

Loved our stay at the barn! The house was very clean, with plenty of room. Great communication with the host to ensure we arrived safely and had everything we needed... which we did. The location was private with plenty of redwoods, fruit trees, plants and flowers. Beautiful setting! The house was also centrally located to all the beaches and trails we wanted to visit with the little town of Trinidad nearby including a gas station, grocery store, restaurants, and gift shops. We looked forward to the hot tub every night after our days exploring the area. This was our first trip out to the California coast and if we ever make it out that way again, we would definitely book this spot again!

Great rental near Trinidad CA

This was an amazing rental! It might be a challenge finding it at night, but worth it! House is very comfortable and host was great. The location is off the beaten path, but wonderful location with the feeling of being in the forest of Humboldt. There was a stream running next to the property and could be heard at night. The house was well equipped and the jacuzzi was wonderful after a day of hiking. Definitely will be my go-to location when traveling to Humboldt. Property is a short drive to Trinidad...lovely town with a grocery store, restaurants and shopping. Highly recommend this place.

Tranquil heaven

This location is a tranquil haven. The setting is perfectly situated. We enjoyed the secluded atmosphere surrounded by redwoods. The host's generosity in accommodating our pets was a delightful touch. Nevertheless, the water quality posed a concern, exhibiting a dark red/brown hue and an overwhelming sulfur smell, which I am allergic to. Had we known about this issue beforehand, we would not have made the booking. The bathtub, a key factor in our decision to book, regrettably went unused. Apart from the water issue, the property's location ensured a fantastic vacation.

Im super happy you enjoyed the house. My home is located in the redwoods and we have creek water as a water source. It is pumped from the creek to holding tanks with 6,000 gallons storage on the hill. This water is gravity fed to a triple filtration system before it enters the house. It is a U/V, carbon and ceramic filtration. This water then enters the house and there is a final extra but not necessary filter for drinking water at the sink. The only thing that can not be filtered out is the tannins resulting in the water from the redwoods that line the creek. This pigmentation is more apparent in the winter with all of the rains. I’m sorry that was an issue for you during your stay. I was unaware of you allergy as well that I was not contacted that this happened for your stay. I could have explained it if you had contacted me. The water is excellent at the house. Just a little natural coloration from being in the redwood forest and remote living.

Nothing Short of Heaven on Earth

So much can be said about this property. For starters, the location can't be beat. Nestled into a forest grove, it feels enchanted from the moment you pull up. Everything is lush and green and very well cared for. The house itself is filled with charm and good vibes. As soon as my wife and I walked through the door, we felt at ease and at home. The property owner (Michelle) is super responsive and friendly. There was no question that was not promptly answered. This will be our new vacation spot. You can't beat the region (redwoods at your doorstep and the ocean a mere mile away), and we felt so at home. Cannot recommend staying here enough.

Beautiful Cabin

We loved every single bit of this beautiful cabin and wished we could have stayed longer. Minor feedbacks: We couldn't find things that we needed as the drawers in kitchen are not labeled so we had to go through every single drawer or cabinet. We were told the regular simple materials were in the cabin, however did not find napkins. We had to use toilet paper temporarily while we were eating and then had to go down the store again to get napkins. We've gone to redwood during winter and spring and stayed in other cabins before this one so we didnt really expect the weather to be extremely hot. It's understandable though since it is summer but the room in the second floor was really hot even during the night. We couldn't have the windows open as not all or any windows have window springs. If we were to open it all bugs would have came in. Thankfully, Vanessa who works for Michelle had an extra fan that was hers. Overall, we loved this cabin.

I am so happy you enjoyed your stay at the Barn. Apologizies for the kitchen roll. We normally have that as an amenity but apparently the housekeeper overlooked it this time. And yes... it was so unusual to have weather this hot on the coast. Its actually quite lucky to get Trinidad on those hot sunny days. We have the fans from a hot spell last year. I had taken the screens off of the windows for when the house was my primary home. I prefer no window screens since normally the windows are closed and i prefer the unobstructed views of the redwoods. I have not had a lot of issues with bugs entering the house. But thanks for mentioning it as perhaps I can re-install them for future guests. I am happy you had a great trip and I hope you come back to trinidad for another family vacation. enjoy summer.
