The house was extremely dirty with cobwebs everywhere, food wrappers were found under beds in the basement, cat hair on furniture which set off multiple allergies of our occupants, and general scrum in bathrooms, around toilets and in the living areas, basement toilet was not working and flooded the downstairs upon first use during arrival, the entire basement had a sewer smell during our stay, linens on multiple beds were missing, kitchen was missing a lot of basic utensils and cups, for example there were only 4 forks when we arrived, thermostat heat settings were locked at 71 degrees and the house was freezing because the thermostat was centrally located in an area without windows so any room that had windows was freezing and we were locked out of adjusting the heat settings, the beds were extremely uncomfortable and the furniture looked like it had been found on the side of the road and brought in. Probably the most disgusting aspect was that we found mouse/rat droppings in multiple kitchen drawers and cupboards as well as in the basement, multiple doors didn’t close or stay shut including the bathroom door off of the living room where everyone gathered so we had to stack books behind the door any time someone needed to use the bathroom. I would absolutely look elsewhere and would not recommend anyone stay here for the price.

The house was minimally clean. Cooking Utensils in the drawers were still dirty. No forks. The house outside needs a good power washing cobwebs are everywhere. The grill was not cleaned from whoever cooked on it last. The location was great and we as a family did have a wonderful time.

Calming Waters

Overall we had a great time staying at Calming Waters! It is a great area and close to the beach. The house is right on the channel coming in from the bay. We brought our paddelboard and used it almost every day. Local neighbor was super nice. The beach was clean and not super busy. There is shopping and restaurants close, and the VA beach boardwalk is within 30 minutes driving distance. The house was not as clean as I was expecting, but it is also the middle of vacation season. The roof was leaky in a couple spots during a really hard rain. I notified the company, which said they will reach out to the owners of the house. 12 people fit very comfortably in the house. The kids and adults loved the pool and recreation area in the basement. The house kept very cool the whole time, which was nice on 90 degree days. All in all it was a fun, relaxing stay. Everyone said they wanted to come back next year!

Nice place. Love the porches and dock. The kitchen was very well equipped and so nice we could bring our dog. The pool was fun as well. I would suggest fixing the water pressure in the bathroom sinks and clarifying the correct bed sizes. Overall we really enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

Charming house, but needs some TLC

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house has tons of character. We had plenty of space to spread out. The double fridges on the property were great to keep beverages by the pool and food in the kitchen upstairs. The location on the bay is great, and the walk to the beach is short. This house would be amazing if it were cleaned a bit better. Our sheets and towels were fine, but the windowsills, corners and high walls were dusty or had cobwebs. The furniture (specifically living room and back deck) was very worn and could use replacing. The outside stairs were clearly just replaced, so we found some building materials, like nails and a razor blade in the outdoor area in the back of the house. There was also a dry-rotted wooden bench near the back shed that could have hurt someone and an umbrella base that was laying near the pool but was too heavy to move. I was worried someone would trip over that. We had a small maintenance issue mid way through the trip and the rental company arrived quickly and was friendly. My correspondence with them was pleasant and friendly. I really appreciated the phone call before we drove down with the tips about the area considering we had never been to this part of Virginia before. None of the cleanliness was a deal breaker for us, but if you’re looking for a spotless, pristine or newer property, this one might not work well for you.

Amazing week in Sandbridge

Our family and friends have visited Sandbridge, VA during the third week of August during each of the last few years. Calming Waters was perfectly sized for our group, with a beautiful pool and direct access to the channels/bay. It’s located on a secluded street and just a short walk To that beautiful beach.

Fun in Sandbridge

We had a fun week in Sandbridge The house was a good fit for our family. Love the DR table, it easily fit our group of 12, the kitchen was functional and had the necessities. The pool was perfect after a day at the beach and was kept clean throughout the week. Needs some interior paint and new LR furniture (pretty dirty), but overall a good beach house.

Good not great

I usually don’t do reviews, but was compelled to for this house. It was good but not great, especially considering the price. The good: - location, back deck( off kitchen) and pool. ( Note: there are no screens on the decks in case you couldn’t discern via photos). The living room, game room, dining room, bathrooms and kitchen sink were clean when we arrived. The not-so-good: - for a house that sleeps 13, there were only 12 forks and 2 ice cube trays ( neither of the ice makers worked). Basic maintenance of the interior was necessary for a better experience ( i.e. fan in upstairs bedroom seemed like it was going to fall while it was running). - The living room furniture is due to be replaced because it’s got a bit of and odor and the cushions are squished. - There were spider webs and dust clumps - Both ovens and kitchens cabinets were dirty - The kitchen window was very dirty/ corroded inside and out and needed to be cleaned. - The deck rug and patio were dirty and had to be swept to get dirt and lots of dog hair off of it. - The doors, railing and walls had chipped paint/ grime on them too. - The dining room ceiling and game room leaked during the rain. Whoever rented after we left, benefited from the cleaning we did. If you are reading this and assume we are just picky, it’s not the case; we rent something every year and know that sometimes we need to clean some things to be more comfortable. This house just really needed more than we’ve ever experienced.

The house was perfect. My only complaint would be that the pool was not warm. We were only minutes from the beach and it was very private. Would definitely recommend.

As advertised, would stay again. Pool needed cleaning and there was some signs of not being completely cleaned inside but nothing to deter the good times.

Beach Retreat

This property was just as listed. Very comfortable and plenty of room for everyone to spread out. Check in was hassle free. The home was clean and neat. Multiple steps were not great for my arthritis but I managed. Pool was clean and they have plenty of kid toys and supplies for children of all ages. My son stayed in the pool even though the weather was not great. Neighbors were very friendly. I would definitly return to this home.
