I hesitate to leave this review and even reached out to VRBO to ask to have my guest review removed instead of having to leave this "rebuttal". Unfortunately, that is not an option and today is my last day to be able to leave a review.I will spare the long drawn-out details but I ended up leaving this property within hours of arriving due to security concerns. I was a female traveling alone and experienced issues with the host that violated my privacy, VRBO policies, and caused me to doubt the security of the unit. There were also many concerns about the overall appearance and cleanliness of the unit that, although less concerning, compounded the more important issues.I acknowledge that I did not give the host the opportunity to address my concern when I was on site because I had legitimate safety concerns with said host and did not feel safe doing so. I also acknowledge that I did try to cancel the reservation 48 hours prior to arrival (due to my planned travel partner's family emergency) and was told I was unable to do so. I understood fully and then drove over eight hours by myself to utilize the unit as planned. In short, I fully intended to stay at the unit despite accusations otherwise by the host.The host exhibited unprofessional behavior and personal attacks in subsequent communications and refused to issue a refund as requested. I am now disputing this charge directly through my credit card company.
