Simply PERFECT!

Our stay at the Shafer Family Penny's First Love home was absolutely fantastic. The view of Duck Lake is stunning, the home feels like ... HOME! It has all the amenities you need - and then some! Hoping to be back again. THANKS Shafer's ... we loved it!

Best rental I’ve ever stayed at!

Penny’s First Love was the cleanest and most well apportioned property I’ve stayed at. I appreciated all the attention to detail, great communication and the beautiful lake view was the icing on the cake. Stay here if you get the chance!! I know we will be back 😉

Perfect for a Weekend with Friends

The house was laid out perfectly for our group of 7 and had all the amenities needed. We rented a pontoon for the day and had a great time! The property manager was friendly and helpful. We will definitely be coming back again next year.

Penny’s First Love

This place is a hidden gem! House was exactly as advertised. Quiet area with everything you need to enjoy family lake time. Host was incredible, provided information on every possible activity in the area. Will definitely be back next year!

Perfect place for a college track team

Super clean! We noticed that right away. View over the lake is incredible. Couches are also super comfortable and sleepable without needing to be converted into pull-outs. We really enjoyed our stay.

Relaxing getaway location

This house is exactly as advertised. It was clean and everything was well kept and in nice condition. The location is outstanding with nice seating inside or out for looking at the lake. The sunset while on the deck was fantastic. There were even enough towels and washcloths provided which is a thing not all rentals get right. I would definitely book this rental again.

Nice, comfortable and homey

Everything was great. Plenty of room for lounging and outside enjoyment. The lake was great swimming with a nice sandy bottom. I'm glad we rented the pontoon boat as suggested, it gave us a nice view of the lake. I would be very comfortable renting the lake house again. The Schaffers were very helpful.

Family vacation

We had 12 people, ages 5 to 68. The cottage was better than advertised. I’ve never seen a better stop stocked kitchen and the property was wonderful for our family group. The beach with Sacha, long enough that you. Don’t have to worry about the kids drowning did not. The game room was in use most of the time.

Great Find

Wonderful immaculate property. The owner’s have thought of every detail and the house is completely stocked with everything you need. Communication with the owner is also excellent. We were able to kayak but during our stay you could not really swim from the beach or dock due to lots of foliage floating and mucky bottom. Next time I would rent a pontoon boat so that we could get out beyond the stuff floating on the water’s edge and swim from the pontoon as the lake really is beautiful.

Everything was exactly as described. The furniture and beds were modern and comfortable. The house was very clean and the kitchen had everything we needed. The lake is lovely and great for swimming or boating

We enjoyed the house all 3 different decks the lake front. Water was amazing with a sand/pebble bottom nice and clean. Are thinking about going back next summer

Very quiet and beautiful home with amazing views of Duke Lake.

This beautiful home was more then we expected for our annual family reunion. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the only thing we needed to bring was our clothes and food, everything else was provided. Duke Lake is such a beautiful lake. I would recommend taking advantage of the kayaks as I went out on the lake twice. I hope you enjoy this home as much as me and my family did!
