2026 open, cozy, sunset waterfront cottage on N Lake Leelanau.

Quaint cozy waterfront cottage situated on N. Lake Leelanau with amazing sunset views. Centrally located to everything Leelanau has to offer. If you're looking for a new place to unwind and feel connected to nature and those you love, this is your place. Around the house there is plenty of space, grass, sun and shade to enjoy. Spend the mornings enjoying a cup of coffee from the main or upper deck or go for a paddle ride with one of the 2 kayaks or canoe the cottage has to offer. Later, everyone can gather around the firepit as burgers cook on the Weber grill.

The cottage dining area and living room faces the lake and opens onto a large deck for relaxing and dining on. The cottage has one main floor (queen) bedroom and two upstairs bedrooms with full size beds, perfect for a family or 3 couples. For warmer days, you can enjoy a nice breeze from across the lake with the many windows throughout the cottage or use a portable fan on the main level with the 2 upper bedrooms having ceiling fans. Our kitchen is equip with everything you need for an enjoyable vacation along with a dining table that seats 6 for dining and playing games.

Cable TV and internet is also provided for your entertainment pleasure. Along with a washer and dryer for washing anything you may need to. However, please note our cottage currently does not have AC/ Dishwasher.

Our new dock is available for tying your boat to and there is generous parking for your boat trailer as well. Two boat launches are only a few miles away. The lake is clear and shallow for small children and big kids too.

During prime summer months our cottage is available from Saturday to Saturday.

The cottage is located on a private well maintained dirt road, so the setting is quiet and peaceful. Come and enjoy the cottage and explore Leelanau and all it has to offer: the cozy cottage, the stunning lake views, vast fruit orchards, wineries, shopping and dining.

Very nice cottage on the Lake. Spent time for Fall Colors, place was immaculately clean, had a friendly floor plan and was a great place for RR. Owner is very nice, made sure stay went seamlessly. Would def stay again!

Coming from South Florida, we were very pleased with this adorable house on the lake. It is tucked back in a nice neighborhood but still maintains a lot of privacy. We utilized the fire pit every night, the dock, and fishing tackle. We were here for a wedding and we had friends staying next door which was so convenient and fun. Deb, the host, was MORE than friendly and welcoming even before we arrived. That is great because I felt like if we needed her, she would be responsive. That is something I have not always experienced with rentals. Everything went smoothly and we had a great time there. You will love it

The cottage was clean with everything necessary for food prep and comfort. The yard and lake are beautiful. The location is perfect for easy shopping, hiking and touring the wineries! We highly recommend and plan to return!

My husband, 15 month old daughter and I had a wonderful stay at Mellow Yellow! The best week of our year so far. We enjoyed dinners on the back porch looking out over the lake and reading by the firepit in the evenings. The cottage is in a great location for exploring- we hiked, kayaked, went to lighthouses and wineries. Debbie was such an accommodating host. We hope to be back!

Mellow Yellow is perfect Up North Rental!

We had an outstanding stay at Mellow Yellow! It was spotless upon entry and was quite possibly the best equipped cottage we have ever rented! The setup was exactly like the pics showed- not big but because there are two bedrooms upstairs AND a full bath we never felt cramped. There are plenty of chairs and places to spread out. All furniture is in fantastic shape and comfortable and beds were obviously newer! Bathroom towels were very nice and there was plenty of soap, shampoo and laundry detergent! They even had plenty of spices for cooking. We couldn’t have been more impressed. That said, I believe our favorite spots at Mellow Yellow was the front yard and deck. Plenty of chairs, a nice dock, lake views, picnic table and an excellent campfire area that we used almost every night! Finally, we were very impressed with the manager- Deb! She was super attentive and very knowledgeable of the area and fun things to do and places to go! Thanks again for an outstanding week! We look forward to our next stay!

Perfect Lake Getaway

This place couldn’t have been any better! We had the most wonderful week here with family- the kids enjoyed the water toys and the adults loved spending time on the patio watching them play in the water. The Host was wonderful- kind and excellent communication! Can’t recommend this place enough- We will be back!

Wonderful cottage

My family of four enjoyed our Memorial weekend at this perfect cottage! The location was great, near Traverse City, Leland, Northport and Glen Arbor. They had all the amenities we needed. They had water toys for the kids and kayaks/canoe to use also. We had a great weekend!

Fall vacation getaway

My wife and I stayed here M-F the second week in October. We came for the fall foliage, scenic drives, wineries, cideries and relaxation in a cozy house on a lake. All boxes checked

Great getaway!

Fantastic Spot

Absolutely wonderful cottage situated beautifully between so many activities. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay- the house itself is lovely, the view is beautiful, kids loved the kayaks and fishing, quick drive to Leland/Suttons Bay/Northport/Bike trails, and the owner was incredibly kind, prompt, and informative. Great Stay!

Our lil family of 5 (3 kids aged 9-11) had a wonderful stay at the Mellow Yellow cottage! Anything you could think of they had! This was a great location! We have friends that live on the lake and they were able to come dock their boat and stay for a s’more visit and the sunset views were spectacular. We will be back!

Great cabin for a family trip

The cabin was cute, clean, and perfect for a trip up North. Great location on the lake and easy to get to town, as well as Traverse City. The kayaks, canoes, and the dock were perfect for a hot summer day. The hosts were also wonderful! Would stay here again!

A family's happy return to Leland

Our family has been visiting Leland, Michigan (just down the road from Lake Leelanau and Suttons Bay) for over 60 years. My daughters and I returned for the first time in 15 years with new spouses and a baby! The rental was an excellent home base to visit friends, the beach, and return to favorite local spots. The house was modern, spotless, well equipped. Best of all, it was charming and comfortable. The sunsets were beautiful and the beds were super comfy. The host could not have been more accessible and accommodating. We are all hoping to make it an annual get together!

Fantastic property on Lake Leelanau

If you enjoy bonfires, sunsets, fishing, kayaking and boating this property is for you. A cozy 3 bedroom house 2 bathroom house right on Lake Leelanau. Our teens fished right off the dock. We easily rented a pontoon boat and parked at the house dock for easy access. Highly recommend for a up North Michigan Summer Stay!

Another great stay on LL

The property interior was clean and well- maintained, well stocked, and comfortable! The property manager was very kind, and extremely flexible and communicative!!! We were able to dock our boat at the house and enjoyed a few days of swimming, bonfires, boating, and playing in the nice backyard. We love Leland and Mellow Yellow offered great place to stay while enjoying our favorite area.

Annual Memorial Day Trip

Annual girl’s trip to the Sutton’s Bay Area. Great home with lake front property. Quiet area with large deck and fire pit. We enjoyed ourselves immensely and hope to be back next year! The property manager was in touch for all our needs. The bottle of wine and fresh bread upon our arrival was a great touch! We highly recommend this home. It’s exactly what we had hoped for. The lake was amazing!

Mello Yellow Vacation

We were so. pleased with the house (Mello Yellow). It was very clean, the beds were comfortable and the lake view off the deck was great! It is located in a quiet neighborhood and very close to wineries and small towns that offered our group many opportunities hike, shop and enjoy tastings from the wineries. The host was very attentive to any of our needs and communicated often before, during and and the end of our stay. We would highly recommend this property if you like the outdoors, touring and coming back to a quiet lakefront property.

5 Star Stay

I had a great stay at the property and the host was fantastic to communicate with, responded quickly and was very pleasant. The check in process was simple and easy. The house is perfect to spend a week in, is perfect in size and has a great outdoor space. Everything that you can think of this properly has. I spent a lot of time outside. The lake property is perfect for kids to swim in, the lake is sandy and is not extremely deep. I rented a boat for the week and the dock was perfect for docking and using the boat. The properly is also close both to downtown Leland and Suttons Bay which both have great options for lunch and dinner. I would highly recommended this property and will visit again.

Awesome stay on Lake Leelanau

We loved our stay at Mellow Yellow! The cottage is quaint, comfortable, and the location on the east side of the lake just north of the Narrows cannot be beat. The sunsets are incredible from here! The cottage is not modern, by any means, but it’s perfect for a quiet family vacation and it’s stocked with everything you need, including cookware, beach towels, kayaks and a canoe, laundry
everything!! It’s on a quiet private road that is just minutes to the village of Leelanau and a quick drive to Leland and Glen Arbor. Communication with Debbie, the property manager, was easy! We highly recommend a stay here and hope we can come back someday!
