**HEATABLE SPA** Nestled on the tip of an idyllic private 5-acre peninsula, minutes from historic St. Michaels, Thorneton Point Estate represents the very best of the Durham-Hythe Experience property collection. This 6-bedroom, 5-bathroom home was designed to exceed guest expectations. The Games House features billiards, table tennis, foosball, arcade games, and the fitness center.



The Space:

Spoil your loved ones with beautiful views and being surrounded by water. Like all Durham-Hythe Experience properties, you will have access to an abundance of amenities suitable for all ages and all energy levels!

Other Things to Note:

While our swimming pool is closed seasonally from October through April, the outdoor spa remains available year-round. Spa heating is available for an additional fee of $100 per day. It’s the perfect place to relax, unwind, and enjoy the stars!



Please note that, due to insurance requirements and local county regulations, a property-specific rental agreement must be completed prior to your stay.



Pets are welcome with an additional fee of $50 per pet, per night. A maximum of two pets is permitted in accordance with county guidelines. We kindly ask that pets be kept off furniture and beds. Pets are also not permitted in the swimming pool, as this can disrupt the pool’s chemical balance and damage the filtration system. Violations of these policies may result in additional cleaning, repair, or other applicable charges.

Early Check-In

Early check-in may be available depending on our cleaning and reservation schedule. When available, we are pleased to provide up to 30 minutes of early check-in at no additional charge. Earlier arrival may be available for $100 per additional hour and must be requested and approved in advance.



Late Checkout

Late checkout may be available upon request and is subject to availability. Any applicable charge will be communicated and agreed upon prior to approval.



Reservation Changes

Changes to the number of guests or pets, additional nights, or other reservation details must be requested and approved in advance. Additional charges may apply depending on the nature of the request and the terms of the reservation.



Damage & Extraordinary Cleaning

Guests are responsible for damage to the property or extraordinary cleaning required beyond normal use. Any applicable charges or reimbursement requests will be handled in accordance with the terms of the reservation and, when applicable, the policies and procedures of the booking platform through which the reservation was made.

Overall, the property was very nice, and we enjoyed our stay. The home was comfortable, spacious, and had many features that worked well for our family. There were a few maintenance and housekeeping items that needed attention, and we shared those details privately with the owner so they could be corrected for future guests. With a few improvements, this could be a very nice place to stay.

We had an incredible time at Thorneton Point Estate! We rented the house with a group of adults to celebrate my husband's 50th bday and the weekend couldn't have been better. The property is one-of-a-kind with 3 sides of lakefront coverage, a gorgeous house and a a beautiful yard, perfect for lawn games. Matt and Bruce are incredible owners and they went above and beyond to make our experience unforgettable. They made us a birthday cake, delivered flowers, made a beautiful cheese plate for a group boat ride that we took (also *highly* recommend) and answered our questions immediately. I really love this property and we will be back! Enjoy!

Perfect for Group GetawayWe stayed here as a group of 9 adults for an Ironman race weekend, and this property exceeded our expectations. The setting right on the bay is simply spectacular- waking up to that view was amazing and it was the perfect place to relax and recharge in the evening.The house itself is thoughtfully designed and beautifully appointed throughout. Every room felt intentional, comfortable, and well-furnished...striking a balance between stylish and livable. With 9 of us under one roof, we especially appreciated the generous gathering spaces- there was plaenty of room to spread out, relax togethr, and celebrate after the race without feeling cramped. The property was clean from top to bottom and the host was incredibly welcoming even before we arrived. Any questions and or concerns we had during our stay were met with quick, thoughtful responses, which made the whole experience easier.One small suggestion for future guests. The kitchen, while visually stunning, has some issues. If you are planning on preparing meals at the house, rather that eating out, to allow your group to enjoy all the house has to offer, there is limited pantry storage so you should plan accordingly. Overall, this was an amazing home base for our weekend, and we'd happily book it again for our next group trip to Cambridge.

The house and property were beautifully maintained. We had 3 generations and everyone was able to get quiet moments and yet be able to be all together. The dining table was well used with lunches/dinner/games.

The property looks sensational in the photos but that's not an accurate representation of reality, unfortunately. My family and I all agreed that we were disappointed with a number of aspects of our stay. First, while it looks like a Pinterest-driven dream house, in reality, it's a rather dated and wonkily laid out property. If you can get past the lack of actual closets, dressers, hot water, doors that require a video manual to open, spider webs, broken accessories, lack of kitchen utensils, and overall dated look and feel, it's rather charming. But we couldn't get past those things. I run several short term rentals and I learned a lot from the experience. This was not a great experience. And it cost a lot. And if yo check my reviews, I'm not that difficult to please.

The upstairs shower is the furthest from the home’s tankless system, so it can occasionally take longer for the hot water to reach that area. We also provide the home’s layout and door instructions in our guest guide to help make the property easier to navigate. As a waterfront home, insects and spiders can be more noticeable during the summer months. Our team removes webs during cleaning, although they can unfortunately reappear quickly. We also understand that occupancy requirements can sometimes feel restrictive. Our maximum occupancy is tied to Talbot County requirements for our short-term rental license, so we are required to apply those limits consistently to every reservation. We appreciate the comments regarding kitchen equipment, accessories, and other maintenance items and have reviewed them with our team. Had these concerns been brought to our attention during the stay, we would have been happy to address them promptly. We sincerely appreciate your feedback. Guest comments, including critical ones, help us identify areas where we can improve the experience. We are sorry that your stay fell short of what you expected and of the experience we want our guests to have, and we thank you for giving us the opportunity to learn from it.

Lovely home on the Bay

My family had a wonderful stay at Thorneton Point Estate. The location is perfect, the property is beautiful, and the home is large and well appointed. We enjoyed the large pool, cookouts, crab feasts, and long walks. We recommend this property for large groups - the house is spacious and clean.

Beautiful house, lovely and well maintained expansive waterfront grounds between Easton and St. Michael’s. Very nicely stocked kitchen, very comfortable beds, super clean, beautifully and thoughtfully decorated. Clear and concise directions for arriving and leaving with a phone number to call for issues. We so appreciated being able to bring our dogs. They loved romping on the grounds. Just a flat out wonderful house-if I could, I would rate it higher than 5 stars. Would highly, highly recommend.

Tranquil paradise

We had an amazing stay at Matt & Gerry’s beautiful, serene oasis. The house was out of a magazine! Beautiful and modern but cozy and comfy. It was a perfect combination! The property is gorgeous! Our dogs had a blast playing in the yard and swimming in the lake! We loved the hot tub and sauna and the game room was super fun! The hosts are warm and accommodating and super responsive. We will absolutely come back and look for their other properties for our upcoming stays!

Mostly great

We had a great time. The pool was a big hit and all the common areas in the house gave us plenty of room to spread out. The game room was super, also. A few things that would make it even greater: about half a dozen cockroaches and other bugs were found in the house; lack of instruction manuals for appliances and sauna; exterior doors very difficult to lack; comforter in bedroom 1 smelled like dogs. Matt was very helpful and responsive to questions

Thank you for your review Rick! We were very surprised to hear that you found cockroaches. We have never seen, or had guests report, cockroaches in the house before. We will keep an eye on this. All of our instruction manuals are in the kitchen drawer (we will add this note to our guest guide), we welcome dogs but ask that guests keep them off beds and furniture. We always encourage our guests to bring any issues to our attention as soon as they arise so we can remedy them immediately. Fantastic getaway

I have to say that this was one of the best trips I’ve ever taken. I Travel a lot And make sure to have a family vacation every summer and the summer we wanted to stay within driving distance. Thorton estate was a grand slam homer And far exceeded expectations. We literally did not leave the property for the entire time that we were there. Each day we swam in the pool, went paddle boarding/kayaking, sat around in the house, used the game room, played with the pool table, and made a fire pit at night. It was a wonderful family vacation in an extremely beautiful setting. Honestly, I cannot recommend it more and will definitely be coming back.

Pool dirty , trash not picked for 2 weeks , grass not cut . All of these things should be done before guests arrival .The house was very accommodating and we enjoyed all of the sitting spots in and out of the house . we also enjoyed the kayaks , bikes and work out room . Kitchen was great .I would suggest replacing the pillows in the first floor master suite as well as the comforter.We think the grass cutting man misunderstood us when we told him to not disturb the Malard eggs nest because after he left the eggs(7) were all gone

Perfect Oasis for a Get-a-way

We could not have been happier with this property! My siblings and I took our parents away for my Mom's 87th Birthday. Her favorite place to be is on the Eastern Shore, so this trip was extra special for her. The home was immaculate and perfectly well stocked with everything we could have needed and/or wanted. We arrived to a beautiful arrangement of flowers and a wonderful freshly baked pie. Due to the season, we could not enjoy the pool, but we did take advantage of the sauna as well as the hot spa. We walked the lovely grounds and enjoyed just sitting near the dock. The beds/linens were welcoming and very comfortable. We were especially appreciative of the owners' attention to every detail and their communication which made for a perfect stay!

Thorneton Estate

Magnificent, modern large, beautiful, lighting with windows and all sides extraordinary location on 5 acres at the end of a private peninsula. Game room with foosball pool, ping-pong, exercise room, and equipment for croquet. Large swimming pool, which we did not use given its winter. Adirondack chairs sit at the end of the property overlooking the water with a fire pit. Great fire pit just outside the kitchen with comfortable couches. Fabulous kitchen with two refrigerators. Owners extremely responsible, responsive and involved. Will return.

Gorgeous spot!

The setting is incredible. Everyday my friends and I would wake up and just be in awe. The house was beautiful, we had a private chef come in and make dinner and it was wonderful, we also had massages in the house and what a setting for that! The house is so great for everyone to have privacy and also there are spaces for us to be together. There were a few problems. I paid extra to heat the jacuzzi and it never got hot enough to use, there was a shower that never worked, the oven didn't work and some lights went on randomly in the middle of the night. The management was in contact with us and that was helpful. And also, none of these things changed the beautiful time I had with my friends in this home.

Hi Alisa! Thank for staying with us and taking the time to write a review. We hope that you return and experience Thorneton Point Estate now that we cured these issues. We changed the spa heater from gas to electric. The shower does work; we ask that you call in the future about anything. We would have given you proper guidance on its operation. One of the two ovens had a burnt out element and has been replaced. We have investigated the lights, but, we have not detected random operation. Hopefully that was an anomaly. Durham-Hythe Experience was established as an alternative to the traditional vacation rental. In 2013, founders, Gerry Coates and Matt Bruce met while vacationing in Mykonos, Greece, and a whirlwind romance ensued.
