Renovated Cottage in Central Lakeside

644 Walnut is centrally located: across from the Rhein Craft Center, 3 block from Hoover Auditorium and downtown Lakeside, 3 blocks from the aquatic center and tennis/pickle-ball courts, and down the street from the farmer's market. And 20 min drive to Put-in-Bay ferries.

644 Walnut - built in 1878 and completely renovated in 2022/23 - has 5 bedrooms (including downstairs master with ensuite), 2.5 bathroom (upstairs with tub), brand new kitchen, tankless heater for unlimited hot water, whole house heat and air conditioning and an enclosed front porch with mini-split heat/AC. First floor has no step entry, wide doorways and master bath has low step-in shower. Downstairs bedroom has king bed. Upstairs front bedroom has king bed and outside balcony porch. Upstairs #2 bedroom has double bed. Upstairs #3 has two twin bunkbeds (sleeps 4). Upstairs back bedroom has queen bed. Living room has a queen sofa sleeper. Kitchen has food pantry and a laundry alcove with washer/dryer stack.

Children Welcome - pack and play crib in closet. No Pets. No Smoking. Space to park two cars in driveway. Outdoor gas grill. Check-in Time is 4 pm. Check-out Time is 10 am. Please note that you need to bring your own sheets, towels & linens.

FYI, we rent 3 cottages in Lakeside: 140 Jasmine, 159 Jasmine and 644 Walnut.

Finally, PLEASE NOTE that during Chautauqua Season, Lakeside charges daily gate fee per guest and parking fee per car. Gate fees support the Lakeside entertainment program and Staff such as lifeguards at the beach and pool or attendants at shuffleboard, tennis/pickle-ball center. Additionally, there are other policies (such as no open alcohol in public spaces). For more information, please see Lakeside Chautauqua website (lakesideohio.com). During Chautauqua Season, full week rentals are from Saturday to Saturday. Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends available. Reduced rates before Memorial Day and after Labor Day.

The house is spacious and comfortable with lots of areas to sit and relax - we had 11 people in our party and never felt crowded. The kitchen was also very well equipped!

We so enjoyed our stay at 644 Walnut. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need, including crock pots! Location was great, near the art center. Our kids spent a lot of time there. Lots of room to spread out in the house. Pictures do not do it justice.

Great location, big house

We really enjoyed this property for our stay in Lakeside over the 4th of July. There were plenty of bedrooms, beds, closet space & dressers. In addition, the house had lots of amenities that we typically have to supply ourselves, such as hand towels, dish soap, laundry soaps, perhaps left by previous renters, but useful nonetheless. The homeowners were extremely responsive when I needed to ask questions about sizes of bathrooms or checkin/checkout questions. The location is so perfect to navigate to all areas of Lakeside.

Nice Lakeside Cottage

We've stayed in several Lakeside cottages over the years. This one was a great stay. The cottage is located on the main street (Walnut), up the other end from the downtown block. It's an easy 4-5 block walk to the shops and lake. The cottage itself is well sized - plenty of beds and bedrooms. I appreciate that there were at least four full-size or larger beds, plus 2.5 baths. We were a party of 7 and it would have been nothing to have had several more people staying with us. Plenty of space.The home has obviously been redone in recent years. It is well-appointed and clean throughout. The furniture was comfortable. The dining table easily sits 6, but you add in 2-4 more seats if you wanted.The owners communicated well and accomodated an early check-in, which we appreciated.It's not particular to this rental, but please note that you need to provide your own sheets. This is a Lakeside thing. As are the gate fees. Know about these going in so you're not suprised.All and all, this was a great rental, in a great place.

Beautiful place on the Lake

If your looking for a beautiful place to stay with your family in Marblehead this is the place? Wonderful accommodations, very clean, way bigger then it looks from the outside, unique, and stones throw from the lake !! Would stay again!

Absolutely loved this place!

Everything is updated and convenient! House is well stocked with anything you could possibly need to cook meals or bake during your stay. The host was so helpful, and got back with me immediately.

The house definitely worked for the size group we had. Plenty of room and bedrooms. The floors were very dirty I would definitely have cleaning crew mop floors better. Trash cans were totally full so we could not but our trash in cans outside. House was not locked when we arived and we never located the key so we had to leave house open when we were gone.

Great stat

We had a great stay. The house is bigger than it looks in the pictures. It is very thoughtfully stocked with all the things you could need. The house has been updated and the bathrooms are all bright and clean. The whole house was spotless. Great for multiple families. Location is across from the art building and an easy walk to all the Lakeside amenities.

Great place!

We stayed at this lovely house last week. It was ideal for our family of 8 adults and five children ages 2-9. The house was clean and VERY well supplied with kitchen supplies, blankets, pillows etc. We could easily walk everywhere. We enjoyed the beach, the pool, tennis, pickle ball, the playgrounds especially Gaga ball. We did rent a 6 seater golf cart which was quite handy. We also had a family reunion of 25 people from Elyria, Oberlin, and Ann Arbor at a nearby restaurant. Everyone wants to go back again.

Great family space!

We enjoyed our stay at Lakeside because this property was so conveniently located and well equipped to serve the needs of our family with a variety of ages. The kitchen was a pleasure with multiple eating areas to seat us all at once or smaller groups inside and out. Communication was excellent and we plan to return! Perfect!

We were at Lakeside for an extended family reunion. This house is open and inviting, and much larger than it appears in pictures. Convenient to everything, but also tucked away a bit, so not much street traffic. Remodeled with decorative and durable materials, but still feels like a lake cottage. It was perfect!

Nicest place I've stayed at

I booked before the property was even finished--I did that previously, with another property and got burned. This one, was wonderful! nice and new and clean. beautifully remodeled, it's on an adorable street ( as is most of lakeside) Place holds 14, but only parking for two cars, so make sure you ask about other extra places to park. Would stay here again, absolutely

Amazing Experience

We had a change of plans and the owners worked with us easily. Upon arrival, we realized this was an amazing destination for our young families. Would go again and will recommend to friends and family. The amenities offered for young families is next to none.

Karen and Phil Stahl grew up in Bellevue Ohio and currently live in Huntsville Alabama. Karen is a retired Family and Consumer Sciences teacher. Phil designs and builds space telescopes for NASA - including the Webb Space Telescope. We have three children and 4 grand-children (hoping for more). We like to travel the world – particularly Europe – yet feel deeply rooted to Ohio. Our families have been here since the 1800s and we and our children attended college here: Wittenberg, Ohio State, Miami, Wittenberg and Denison. When we lived in Connecticut, every summer we took our kids to ‘Family Camp’ at Camp Quinipet on Shelter Island. Now, we are looking forward to sharing Lakeside with our Grand-Children.

We fell in love with Lakeside several years ago and purchased 140 Jasmine in 2017. When 159 Jasmine came available in 2019, we could not resist. Now we have added 644 Walnut. During our weeks in Lakeside, Karen teaches craft classes at the Rhein Center. She always commented on the cute cottage across the street from her teaching area. I like 644 Walnut’s location – 3 blocks up from Hoover Auditorium, 3 blocks over from Grindley Aquatic Center and Tennis/Pickle-Ball Courts, and 1 block down from the Farmer’s Market and future Performing Arts Center. But most important is the Lakeside Chautauqua with its organized activities and programs for all ages. See their website for details.

Voici ce qui rend cet hébergement unique

What makes the property unique? It comes with its own 1878 outhouse and two horse barn. It has been fully renovated while keeping the core of the original 1878 cottage. The cottage we bought had 3 bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms. The new cottage has 5 bedrooms, including a downstairs primary bedroom with en-suite, 2.5 bathrooms and a brand new kitchen and paved patio. The upstairs front bedroom has its own balcony.
