Mamaw’s Place is a charming farmhouse nestled in the peaceful countryside of Mountain City, Tennessee. Surrounded by rolling hills, mountain views, and the soothing sounds of a nearby creek, this cozy two-bedroom, one-bath retreat offers the perfect mix of comfort, history, and authentic Appalachian hospitality.

Step inside and feel right at home. This lovingly maintained farmhouse combines rustic character with modern convenience. The home has a fully-stocked coffee and tea bar and a fully equipped kitchen with everything you need for your stay. A washer and dryer are located in the unit for your convenience, making it easy to settle in and stay awhile.

Spend your mornings sipping coffee on the front porch as the sun rises over the mountains, or out back on the patio with the chickens. The large yard provides plenty of space for kids to play, while the creek behind the house adds a touch of peace and charm. In the evenings, unwind around the fire pit, enjoy a friendly game of cornhole, or fire up the BBQ grill for a classic cookout on the patio. We had a wonderful stay! The host was very nice, attentive, and easy to communicate with. The house was clean, cozy, and very family-friendly. It truly had everything we needed to make it feel like our home for the weekend, including a full kitchen and the convenience of having a washer and dryer. We were very comfortable and enjoyed our time there. Would definitely recommend and would love to stay again!

Mamaw’s Place in Mountain City was one of the cutest and most authentic places we’ve ever stayed. Being only a few minutes from town, we were able to enjoy all that Mountain City had to offer while also enjoying the peacefulness of staying on a farm. The host was friendly and attentive, and she offered excellent suggestions on what to check out while we were in Mountain City. We will definitely be back!

The property was as described, loved having a fully equipped home to relax in, prepare meals, laundry, a host that communicated very well & promptly. Mamaw’s Place was the perfect quaint stay for a long weekend! It has such a cozy feel to it between the decorations, the lighting, and the adorable Pyrenees that greets you as you come and go. The house was very clean - my mom is a professional cleaner and even she was impressed at the cleanliness. It balances the country feel while still being close enough to town in case you need something. Debbie was an incredible host - easily accessible by phone and informative.

What a great place! I absolutely loved staying here. The farm setting took me back to wonderful memories of my own grandmother's house. I had everything I needed, plus more. This is the cleanest place I've ever stayed. There might be a speck of dust somewhere, but I sure didn’t see any! Debbie was available for any questions I had. I would definitely stay here again. Thank you for a comfortable and fun stay!

We had a fantastic stay at Mamaw’s place. It was super clean and neat. A really cute farm house. Very convenient home base to explore the mountain roads around Mountain City. A very responsive host. We plan to b back next year!

Pleasant Stay

House was as described. Our son was participating in a paramotor fly in that was held at the Johnson County Airport which was an easy 10 minute drive from the home. If the house is available the next time we are in Mountain City, we would not hesitate to stay here again.

Perfect Mountain Getaway

The house was perfect for our weekend of decompressing and the farm animals added a charming touch. We couldn’t have asked for a better host. Debbie went above and beyond, provided detailed instructions and even shared a list of local events, links and dining options that would suit our needs based on the information we provided. Bristol Race Stay

Our family had a great time this weekend. House was so clean, accurate to the listing. Debbie is so nice & kind, allowed our 5 year old to visit with the animals, he loved the chickens! This location was perfect for us as we went to the NASCAR race in Bristol. Grocery & diners along with quick & easy food options very close to house! Scenery is great! We will definitely be returning next year!

Comfortable stay & charming little country house.

Honestly, we only accessed the house at night. Beds were comfy and host was really good to accommodate our specific needs. We were part of a men's team and our accommodations at a local hotel were canceled so repair contractors coming into the are had a place to stay. We come up twice a year to minister to the inmates at the local penitentiary. Debbie I will probably call you in the spring to book again. Thanks. We enjoyed Mamaw's place much better than the local hotel.

Home away from Home

This was the best stay we have had. Debbie’s home was warm and delightful. It felt so peaceful from the first step in until the last step out. We were treated with such care. Debbie went above and beyond any host we have had so far. She should get the VRBO best stay award for the year. The house is clean and perfect for 2-3 people. What a great to star a new Season. Thank you Debbie for making our first time in Mountain City a time we will never forget.

Peaceful location and great host

We had a great stay. The home is on a working farm just a few minutes from town. We enjoyed watching the goats, sheep, cows, chickens, and bees. The chickens would run up to the fence whenever they saw us. The house is an old farmhouse, complete with creaky wooden floors, which we loved. We traveled around a lot during our stay, visiting Damascus (VA creeper trail), Abington, Banner Elk, Elk Park, Boone, and Erwin. All are within about a 1 hour drive. Debbie was very helpful finding some local fall festivals for us.

Felt like we were family!

From check in to our amazing nights rest we felt welcomed and part of the family. We will one day be neighbors, but Debbie made us feel like family. We loved seeing the cow and chickens in the mornings. Debbie had a welcome sign in the kitchen with our names on it... lovely touch. When my husband lost his phone Debbie went above and beyond and helped us find it. Mountain City and the surrounding towns were hit hard with Helene, but they are rebuilding and will be better than ever. We will be back very soon. Thank you, Debbie!

Best Place to relax and unwind!

If you need to get away from the hustle and bustle, this is the place for you! It was quiet enough that I slept like a rock! The best rest I’ve had in a long time. Debbie had coffee along with creamer and sugar available to use. The kitchen has everything you need to cook. The best is that it has stainless steel pots so you’re not having to worry about nonstick being all scratched up to the point you can’t use it. We enjoyed watching the farm animals each morning while drinking coffee. Debbie was great to help if needed and make suggestions for the area. We have stayed in numerous Vrbo rentals. By far, this was the best place we have ever stayed and we will definitely be back.

Mid-May, 2024. Clean, neat house. Plenty of room in each room. Everything electronic worked. 3 complaints: (1) The map location on Vrbo (pre-booking) was misleading as it appeared to be much closer to the center of town and our daily destination (out Church St./Divide Rd.) than it actually was. The actual location was about twice as far from out daily destination as we thought it would be. (2) The entry instructions were confusing, so we had to call the owner upon arrival (lucky we had cell service). (3) The top sheet on the queen bed seemed like a double bed sheet, as it was not wide enough to cover two people. Aside from these three things, we enjoyed our stay at the house and would recommend it.

No words capture this place

Every entry in the guest book raves about the animals, the scenery, the cleanliness, the hosts, the local people. I'll try, but anything I say will fall short of capturing how much we enjoyed staying at Mamaw's. The first thing that strikes you is that the place is spotless. Like hospital clean. Debbie and Bob treated us more like family than inn keepers. It's an old farmhouse so it has quirks. Those are cool. But there is plenty of hot water and water pressure. And the water is from a natural spring. (Be advised, hard water does not suds up!) You will RELAX here. Play with the dogs. Let the chickens in or out (and get harassed by the rooster!) Visit the goats. The steers, not so much. They will ignore you. Rainy day? Play a game or read a book from one of the cabinets. Full kitchen, microwave, coffee pot (pour through type, not Keurig) Everyone here and in town is so nice you will never want to leave. Bring your passwords for the smart TV apps. Laptop with HDMI port? I left you a cable to hook in! I know you will love it as much as we did... Just don't be renting the place when we want to come back!
