The Original Marshmellow! Spacious Ocracoke beach house in the quiet Jackson Dunes neighborhood. Marsh views, large front deck, and two screened porches. House was one of the most popular rentals for over 25 years, now selectively rented through VRBO only. Reverse floor plan with large open space on the top floor. Stainless kitchen appliances, gas stove, and the best stocked kitchen you'll find. 65" TV in living room, with smart TVs in all bedrooms as well. Starlink satellite internet for fast, problem-free downloads, streaming, and browsing. Owner converted one bedroom into a well-equipped home gym, featuring plenty of weights, bands, bars, bells, and benches. House also features a 4-person golf cart, provided sheets and towels, Webber grill, Hatteras hammock, outdoor shower, bicycles, helmets, and spacious flat backyard. New driveway, walk-in shower, porch screens. Fish cleaning bench, rods, coolers, and chairs for your beach trips. Property is being conservatively and selectively rented for six people max, no smoking. Three day minimum. Keypad combination provided upon reservation. Thanks!

Derek was very communicative giving great detail up front to ensure we came in prepared properly (for the ferry situation, coffee, etc
). He was incredibly responsive to questions and gave us some great recommendations. Everything was walkable and the golf cart was a HUGE plus! I would highly recommend Marshmellow to anyone looking for some time on Ocracoke Island!!

The Marshmellow had everything we needed to enjoy our time on the island.The kitchen had everything we needed to cook with.Dog friendly and included a golf cart.All the beds were very comfortable.The house was very clean top to bottom.Our host Derek was quick to answer any questions we had.I would definitely stay here again.

We can't say enough great things about our stay here! The house was beautiful, super comfortable, and had everything we needed. The kitchen was well-appointed, and we loved having the outdoor shower, bikes, and golf cart available to use. The location was perfect—close to shops and restaurants. We loved the screened-in porches, and there were so many nice, thoughtful touches throughout the house that made our stay extra enjoyable.Our host was fantastic, answering any questions we had right away and making sure everything went smoothly. We would absolutely stay here again!

If you're thinking of booking this house, do it! Absolutely perfect and great property! It looked exactly like the pictures. The host was communicative and helpful in relaying instructions and replying to questions. The location is absolutely ideal - being just a little ways off the main road so it's nice and quiet. The views off the front are awesome - you can see across the marsh to the main highway and the back of the dunes in the distance. At night there is almost no light pollution so the stargazing is exceptional. I cannot wait to stay here again.

This house was in a perfect spot ! The kitchen was very well stocked . We loved sitting on the screen back porch in the evening watching the birds.there is nothing this house didn’t have even with the weather not so great for our visit we definitely enjoyed our stay. Great place to stay!

Marshmellow is the perfect name for this house. It is located on a street in a quiet neighborhood. It’s a little further out, but the beauty of Ocracoke is that even the further out houses are only a mile or two from town. The house was clean and perfect for a family of four!

Vacation paradise

As soon as we entered the house, we felt totally at home. It was super clean, and exceptionally furnished with more than you could imagine. Saying we were more than impressed would be a serious understatement. If you’re considering booking, my best advice is do it before someone else does. I promise you will not be disappointed. The house was great, but the icing on the cake was being able to meet Derek and Virginia (the hosts). Better hosts you will never find.

The MarshMellow may be the perfect place to stay in Ocracoke. The location is great. Not far from the busy village waterfront but in a much quieter neighborhood. The house comes with a golf cart which is almost a necessity. Based on the rental prices on the island, out saves you about 125 per day to use the one that comes with the house. The house is stocked for your every need. Derek has thought of everything. The kitchen is truly a chef's kitchen. We had a great time cooking there. The grill is fantastic. There is one bathroom for each bedroom. The house was great for four people but would also be great for 6. The outdoor shower was perfect after a day at the beach. If we had been there longer we would have used the bikes. We did make use of the beach chairs at the beach. Derek also made sure to please ask types of coffee drinkers. While we love the Ocracoke coffee places, we only went out for coffee once because we had plenty of coffee options at the MarshMellow. He even had multiple toasters which was great to accommodate one of our companions who is gluten free. We could all eat toast at the same time and keep one toaster gluten free. We love The MarshMellow and Derek is just an exceptional host. We hope to be back again.

It rained every day! Everyone ENJOYED the ring game on one of the porches..

GReat house!! A couple of us have health issues and the steps created a problem. The kitchen was well equipped. Labels on the doors might have been helpful.

Fly-in Friendly for W95 airport

The owner of the house, Derek, was very helpful in answering all our questions about the area. He was happy to provide transportation from W95 airport to the house for our arrival and departure. At the house, you have access to a 4 person golf cart and bikes to help you get around the village part of the island. We used both and it was great! The house is exactly as the pictures show and what is written. Comfortable beds and fantastic screened in porches to relax with a bench swing. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need during your stay, including a grill on the front porch and grill tools. This neighborhood is so peaceful and quiet. A great place to have a family vacation for our first visit to Ocracoke. We will definitely be back and hope to stay here again!

Perfect Ocracoke Rental

Wonderful home on our favorite island! Everything, including comfy bedding, top notch kitchen, solitude, marsh views, beach gear, fish cleaning area, bikes, and of course the golf cart made our family’s Ocracoke vacation the best it could be. The host was extremely responsive and helpful. We even had a chance to get our puppies together for visit! Will definitely stay here again!

Location was great. Loved that this rental was all inclusive, everything from linens, beach towels and chairs, bikes, and golf cart. The property manager was very responsive and accommodating. We were able to bring our two dogs which was another big plus. The only suggestion that we have is that the cushions in the sofa and chair in the living room area need firmer filling but that is not a big issue considering all that this house has to offer. Everything else was perfect and we have reservations for next summer.

Framily Trip 2025

Marshmallow had everything we needed! It was beautifully decorated and had spaces to tuck away and relax. We had friends in town and gathered every morning and night to eat together. The gym was amazing, helped me stay on track during my vacation. The bikes and golf cart were so appreciated and used everyday. Loved this home and would stay again!

60th Birthday Trip

My best friend and I spent a week at Marshmellow, we enjoyed every aspect of our trip, especially the house which had everything you could possibly need for a comfortable week away. I even got to bring my dog! We enjoyed a quiet week away, spent every day on the beach, enjoyed great restaurants all based out of this great VRBO! A few of our favorite aspects of the home, the included golf cart, the screened in porches, the porch swing, the hammock, to name just a few. Maybe we can come back for another birthday soon!
