THE SPACE:
The chalet was designed to provide a relaxing getaway experience where guests can truly unwind from their everyday lives. The warm, inviting interior offers the perfect backdrop for a family movie night, board games around the fire, or a tranquil work-from-home location offering high-speed internet access. There is a treasure hunt hidden on the property that is sure to delight guests of all ages. In the finished basement you'll find a foosball table, couch, and TV. The exterior of the home offers entertainment right outside of your door. Enjoy lounging on the back patio listening to the sounds of nature, or snuggle up around the fire pit to roast s'mores. Light up the propane grill and enjoy a summer barbeque. Explore the private hiking trail on the property that takes you through the trees and past a bubbling brook.
While the home offers everything you need for a wonderful stay, our favorite part of Western Maine is the variety of outdoor adventures awaiting you year round. The chalet is located only a few miles from multiple spectacular hikes. Dunn Trail, an access trailhead for the Appalachian Trail, is just down the road, and Grafton Notch State Park boasts several great hikes for all skill levels. In the summer months, swim at Ellis Pond, Roxbury Pond or Silver Lake, all within a 15-minute drive. In the winter, ski at Sunday River or Black Mountain, both within 30 minutes of the chalet. Andover is connected to the ITS 82 Maine snowmobiling trail, with many other smaller trails around as well. There is no shortage of amazing outdoor adventures to be had!
LIVING ROOM:
The living room draws you in with two oversized genuine leather couches, vaulted ceilings, plenty of windows for natural light, and a gas fireplace for extra warmth and ambiance. Gather the whole family to watch a movie on the 58" HD Smart TV, or pour yourself a glass of wine and enjoy reading a book on one of two Sherpa chairs in the reading nook.
KITCHEN:
We love to cook, and this kitchen and dining space are designed to accommodate those who share our love. The kitchen features new stainless steel appliances, including a 5-burner + flat top griddle gas stove. We have stocked the space with all of the essentials, such as cooking utensils, a toaster oven, a coffee machine with Dunkin Donuts coffee, pots & pans, dishes, flatware and knife set, olive oil, and some seasonings. The large reclaimed wood dining table is spacious enough to accommodate your entire group.
BEDROOMS:
Each bedroom was crafted with comfort in mind - you'll find soft linens, extra pillows, down comforters, and throws for added warmth. Every room has blackout curtains so you can sleep in undisturbed by the sunlight. You will find ample space to unpack your belongings between the closets and large wooden dressers. The first floor offers a large bedroom with three single beds. Upstairs you will find two additional bedrooms, one with one queen bed and one with two queen beds. Between all three bedrooms, the chalet can comfortably sleep nine guests, making it suitable for families, friends, or couples. A pack n' play is also available for the littlest guests.
BATHROOMS:
The chalet offers two full bathrooms, one on each floor. Soaps and towels are provided (if you require extra towels for your stay, please kindly let us know in advance of your arrival)! Each bathroom also has extra toiletries in case you forget something at home.
LAUNDRY ROOM:
A washer and dryer are available for guest use on the main level. Detergent, an iron, and an ironing board can be found in the large coat closet in the laundry room.
OUTDOOR AMENITIES:
Western Maine is known for its beauty, and we encourage our guests to enjoy the great outdoors during their stay with us. The back deck offers ample seating for relaxing with the group. It has a latching gate to contain the little ones or pets to the deck space. If you love to barbeque, you will find all necessary utensils and a propane grill at your disposal. The fire pit is one of our favorite areas outside. Enjoy a cup of hot cocoa while roasting s'mores over the fire for a perfect Maine night. The chalet sits at the base of a small mountain (2,200ft+ in elevation), offering fantastic hiking. For those who join us in the winter, you will find sleds and snow tubes in the basement (please enjoy at your own risk).
GUEST ACCESS:
Guests have access to the entire home and property with two exceptions. There is a linen closet in the downstairs bathroom and a storage closet in the basement which are locked and contain our personal items. These are not available for use by guests.
CELL SERVICE:
Most people have decent cell reception at the chalet, but as the location is remote, you'll find that dead zones in the surrounding areas are common. Please plan accordingly. The chalet provides high-speed internet access (300+ mbps) for guests, so connectivity should not be an issue inside the home.
PETS:
We are dog lovers and are happy to accommodate up to two well-behaved, housebroken dogs at the chalet so your entire family can experience this area together. Owners must pick up after their pets both inside and out (dog waste bags provided). Pets are not permitted on any furniture (couches, beds, chairs, etc.). There is a fee of $60 to cover additional cleaning and wear and tear. Guests are fully responsible for the replacement cost of any damage.
CLEANING:
Our home is professionally and meticulously cleaned between each stay by a small, local team following enhanced cleaning protocols to ensure a wonderful experience for guests. Our cleaners offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee and if at any point you feel there is something that may have been missed, please do not hesitate to reach out to us so we can address it immediately.
SNOW & TRASH REMOVAL:
Our plowing and trash are managed by local companies. You will find shovels and sand at the property you can use during your stay if you ever feel the need. Please be careful on the wooden steps as they can be very slippery when wet. Take care in the winter months, as this area of Maine can see a fair amount of snow and ice.
WINTER STORMS:
Power outages can be common in Maine during winter storms. The home is set up with a new (2021) auto-start generator, so you can rest easy knowing that there should always be power at Stony Brook Chalet. There are also multiple flashlights in the laundry room coat closet.

The chalet is good size for a party of 9 (6 adults/3 teens). Once you walk in, you will fall in love with it. Decoration is beautiful, have modern kitchen and bathrooms. The chalet is exactly like what the pictures shown. Both adults and teens enjoy staying there. Awesome Property
Wish we could have stayed longer and will definitely stay again. Enjoyed everything from the well kept hiking trail just outside the door to the beautiful places to walk and spend some time in the water (i.e. The Flat Rocks area.) This is easily one our top three VRBO’s and highly recommend to anyone interested. The home/ amenities are spot on while the location is just a chef’s kiss. The owners were great in communication and thought of all the details to make this a great place to stay.

Refreshingly easy
Clean, well equipped cabin amongst stunning scenery. Enjoyed the good folks @ Mills Market + Terry's store across the street.
The "Good Food Store” in Bethel is fab for meals to go, good wine & if you're lucky, the pig truck will be outside cooking up some good vittles.
Hike, stroll, drive…EXPLORE and return to this comfy cabin to relax and enjoy the amenities.
Well done Monica + crew!

Cozy, quiet place to hang out and chill
Our group was made up of family and friends. Our goal was to relax, eat, drink, and celebrate a milestone birthday. This home met all of our needs! It was rainy all weekend but we didn’t mind because we were able to relax inside, hike a bit of the private trail behind the house, play board games, cook, etc. They supplied everything we needed as far as kitchen appliances, comfy beds and couches, bathroom supplies. We got to enjoy the firepit, deck, and grill as well. We loved that we could bring our dogs as well and they could enjoy the stay too.

Awesome stay for families and nature lovers
Beautiful home very tastefully decorated with super comfy beds, plenty of towels, and everything you need to cook, tidy up, and have a fun, relaxing stay in wonderful Western Maine. Kids loved hanging out in the basement with all the games and smart TV for movie nights. My elderly mom was well accommodated with the full bathroom and bedroom on the main floor. WiFi and temp control were great. Owners were absolutely fantastic with their communication and check in and check out were seamless. We have stayed at a few rental homes in Maine and this is one we will absolutely return to. Thanks Monica and Chris!
