Great location for a long weekend in Saranac Lake! We stayed in a second floor apartment which required lots of stairs - not an issue for us but be mindful if anyone in your group has mobility issues.

Saranac is almost a 2nd home to us. The town and people are great. The same goes for the accommodation. The location is steps away from the main street and local attractions. The rooms are a good size and a restful place to hang out after a busy day. Also, the simple additional touches in the kitchen with food plastic bags, tin foil and condiments make life just a bit easier when you are away. Thanks for a great stay.

This is a lovely rental right in the downtown area of Saranac Lake. The location is so convenient if you want to walk around. We were able to walk to a grocery store and restaurant. The beds were so comfortable and there were plenty of spare blankets. The living / dining area was cozy. We had a very enjoyable stay and would definitely come back again.

Initially we were very confused. Having not ever been to this area, and based on the cover page for the listing, we thought we were staying at the Hotel Saranac. We thought perhaps it had owner operated units within the hotel. Why a VRBO listing for an apartment in a house across the street would use the Hotel Saranac as its first image, and not show any actual images of the outside of the actual house in the listing seemed somewhat like a bait and switch. In the end the unit was decent. It was clean. Check-in process was easy. The owner communicated well. It certainly though was NOT the more upscale accommodations across the street.

The place really didn’t work for us. There were so many air conditioners that were really noisy, especially the swamp cooler in the queen sized room. Downstairs in the king sized bed there was traffic all night with tractor trailers. You had 2 flights of stairs, one in the apartment. To go to the bathroom from king sized room you had to go up a flight of stairs. It was clean, great location to bike trail, but not for us.

À propos de l’hôte

Hôte : Bruce Thomsen

Image de profil de l’hôte
I’m a lifelong Adirondack local — my family has lived and worked in the Saranac Lake area for over 50 years. Hosting gives us the chance to share everything we love about this region — from the crisp mountain air and endless outdoor adventures to the small-town charm that makes Saranac Lake so special. As a family-run business, we take pride in creating stays that feel personal, comfortable, and authentically Adirondack.

Voici pourquoi l’hôte a choisi cet hébergement

Our neighborhood in Saranac Lake perfectly captures the best of the Adirondacks — peaceful, walkable, and full of character. Step outside and you’re minutes from Lake Flower, local cafes, and the farmers market. The village has a welcoming, creative energy with musicians, artists, and outdoor enthusiasts around every corner. I love how you can grab a coffee, watch the sunrise over the water, and still be just a short drive from the trails, lakes, and slopes that make this region world-famous.

Voici ce qui rend cet hébergement unique

What makes our property unique is the blend of historic charm and modern comfort — it’s a fully renovated Adirondack retreat thoughtfully designed for all four seasons. Guests love the private enclosed porch, bright natural light, and convenient downtown location just minutes from Lake Placid. But what truly sets us apart is the local connection — we’re not a management company; we’re a family that’s lived here for generations, and we care deeply about making sure every guest experiences the real Adirondacks the way locals do.
