Waterloo Cottage - Beautiful Lakefront Cottage at Clear Lake Near Chelsea, MI.

Cottage will be ready for University of Michigan Football Games and for Beautiful Fall Color Viewing and Holiday Stays. Now Taking Reservations for Full Weeks in Summer 2025. Charming, authentic Michigan lakefront cottage situated right on desirable, private, all-sports Clear Lake right in the heart of the Waterloo Recreation Area in Grass Lake, MI Near Chelsea. The Cottage Rents by the Week from Memorial Day thru Labor Day-- Saturday to Saturday-- check in at 4 PM and check-out at 10 AM. Two Night Minimum Stays are Available in other Months. The lake is surrounded by rolling, tree covered hills. It is a 136-acre lake described as the most scenic lake in the county. The cottage is 10 minutes away from Chelsea, MI, 20 minutes from Jackson, and 25 minutes from Ann Arbor.

The Waterloo cottage is newly remodeled with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The downstairs bedroom has a Queen bed and the two upstairs bedrooms each have bunk beds with twin beds on top and a full on the bottom. The Living Room has a sofa with a pull-out queen sleeper bed. The large bathroom has a soaking tub, shower, and double vanity. The small bathroom has a toilet and sink. There is also a laundry room with washer and dryer. There is a 30-foot aluminum dock and two kayaks, a paddle boat and a large aluminum rowboat provided. Sunrises and sunsets are magnificent when viewed from the cottage on a hill-- with 130 feet of lake frontage. There are deck steps leading down to the lake with a small sitting area down below overlooking the lake. There is a Newer Pontoon Boat Available to Rent for an Additional Fee.

Rents Saturday to Saturday in the summer months-- check in at 4 PM and check-out at 10 AM. Superb biking from cottage. Bring your bikes as many bike races and recreational biking take place on Clear Lake Road and the surrounding roads due to the challenging rolling hills that are present in the area. The cottage is also surrounded by State Forest Land for Beautiful Views and walking trails. There are outdoor sitting areas, a fire ring with chairs, and a gas grill for outdoor cooking.

I must say the country feeling was a nice touch to this place with the different wooden walls made this place amazing. View of the lake and well kept up property brought me back when I was a kid at our lake house. I will definitely be back.

We are all adults over the age of 60. We appreciated the beautiful furnishings and hidden touches, like games provided, great linens, super nice shower.Didn't get to use any of the water toys, but nice that they were provided.

This is a phenomenal lakefront cottage that was perfect for a romantic weekend getaway. We loved every aspect of the house and the lake. Despite being close to Ann Arbor and Chelsea, we felt like we had escaped to a peaceful, secluded lake. The cottage is clean, beautifully updated, and charming. Paul and Renee were extremely accommodating and did everything possible to make a perfect trip. We are already planning our next trip with our children next summer.

The Cottage is full of charm and exceptional guest details—soaps, linens, kayaks, life vests and more. The lake is lovely and a great spot for novice kayaking. Good bike trails within 15 minutes. Walkable small towns nearby (Stockbridge, Chelsea). A perfect place for a quiet, relaxing retreat. Very responsive hosts.

Beautiful Lake House and Neighborhood

We had the best time. The hosts were so kind and left a personal note and a University of Michigan sticker cause they knew that’s why we were coming there for that. The boat was wonderful to rent and the paddle boat was fun! Thank you again for a great time.

Outstanding lakefront cottage

It's like staying in a cottage on the cover of some home and garden magazine! They renovated this little place with love and good taste. Everything is quality from the towels, and linens to the filtered water. It doesn't feel like your at a rental, it feels like your at home.

A great place to stay for a fall getaway!

We came to the Chelsea area to use the DTE Foundation mountain biking trail. The cottage was well appointed and met our needs. Paul and Renee have really thought of everything to make the cottage user friendly for families. The cottage is lovely, clean, and well decorated. If we make it back to the area we will definitely consider staying at the cottage again. Paul was very responsive to messages and questions we had. We enjoyed the lake and the provided amenities including the bonfire pit and yard games Thanks for contributing to our relaxing and fun fall getaway..

Hidden treasure

The property is a hidden treasure. House is decorated nicely and is true to the pictures. So many small touches made this our favorite. We enjoyed the book of tips from other travelers as well as the favorite things to do in the area. The kayaks were nice, with plenty of water toys to keep the family occupied. The property was stunning and we enjoyed the breeze. Just watching the activity on the lake. We have stayed at multiple rentals and this is our favorite.

Grandpa and Grandpa visit

Spent time back in Michigan to enjoy a week of lake life. We welcomed friends and family for day visits- mostly on the shore and on the dock- or for meals around the table. We went to the Chelsea Fair, fished off the dock, played golf, took boat rides, and did a lot of laughing and relaxing

Relaxing & Fun Week at Cute & Clean Lake House!!

A wonderful week spent at this wonderful home on a beautiful and peaceful lake! Super clean and lovely decorated place : a mix of vintage cottage awesomeness and modern updates. We had a relaxing fun time on the lake. Kayaks, fishing and do rent the pontoon.. well worth it! Day trips to Ann Arbor and Detroit where we saw a Tigers vs Yankees game. Highly recommend this lake house . Thank you so much !

Lovely little cottage on Clear Lake

The cottage is great for a small family. We had one adult and three teens in our party. We were impressed by how clean it was. Cottages often have excess cobwebs for us city dwellers, and we found Paul and Renee's place to be better than our usual experience (and we are pretty fussy). Paul was very responsive and kind about all questions. The Pontoon boat worked great and was a nice add on to the rental. Highly recommend. I will say if you are a bigger person, you may have trouble navigating some areas of the cottage. It was the perfect size for us, but just a heads up. We will consider staying again!

Fabulous lake cottage

Paul and Renee's cottage is lovely. It sits on a lake and there is lots to do in the area. We took advantage of great hiking and bird watching in the area. We loved ending our days on their dock or on the big porch. We had family visit on one day and everyone loved using the kayaks.

University of Michigan graduation weekend

The cottage is absolutely BEAUTIFUL and just our kind of place. The pictures and description are exactly as it’s shown and says. I would say even better in person! No detail has been forgotten. The moment you walk in you feel right at home and spoiled! We loved sitting on the porch early mornings w/coffee and games overlooking the lake. We loved the outdoor space too! We grilled burgers and sat around the outdoor table in very comfy/relaxing rockers overlooking the lake. Firepit @sunset and dusk was a treat! We loved driving on rolling backroads to Chelsea, such a cute town w/variety of restaurants and shops. Ann Arbor is 25-30 min drive, so not too far to get to campus and graduation activities. Plus a whole lot more relaxing and vacation “like” to be outside of town and avoid crowds, full restaurants and limited parking. We felt lucky to find this beautiful respite. We loved every moment! Paul, the owner was quick to respond w/text to all ?’s; super helpful and friendly. Thank you for all the memories. We need to go back in the summer to swim and boat 😎

Sunny Cottage on Beautiful Clear lake

Our stay at the Waterloo Cottage was nothing short of perfection! The cabin was exactly as pictured! It was clean and super cozy and beautiful views of the lake. Very relaxing! The cabin had everything you could possibly need to make your stay comfortable
 kitchen utensils and plenty of linens along with a plethora of other things to use. Paul and Renee were excellent hosts and very responsive with getting back to me. They knew we were coming in for a horse show weekend and left cute horse stickers for our kids along with a sweet treat for them and a few adult beverages that we were able to enjoy. They also left fun bath cracklers and a koala bath puff that our 6 yr old loved! I kept meaning to write in the guest book and ending up forgetting to but the guest book was very helpful with recommendations and reading peoples past experiences. They also had another book with history about the property and information about the area which was very cool! The weather wasn’t cooperative for us to be able to utilize the paddle boat or kayaks but it was nice that they were available to use. The weather cleared enough that we did get to utilize the huge fire pit and they also provided enough wood for a bonfire! We were able roast s’mores and see the Northern lights with the kiddos, which we all enjoyed very much! We loved our stay at the Waterloo Cottage and plan to book again in the future! 11/10 would recommend! Thanks again for a great stay, Paul & Renee!

Perfect cottage stay!

Amazing cottage on the lake! Renee and Paul have thought of every detail from the quality of the furnishings, night lights, welcome note and basket. Communication was so quick. The location was perfect on the lake with new stairs and dock down to the water. My friend and I were in town for a charity endurance hike and it was the perfect location. I definitely hope to come back and would recommend this rental to anyone.

Loved the beautifully decorated early 1900s cottage! Clean and comfortable. Beautiful view of lake. So charming! Stayed for a girls weekend and was very impressed with host!
