This is a sweet retreat nestled in the eucalyptus trees, a 5-10 minute drive from hiking trails in the Marin Headlands, Muir Woods, Muir Beach and Green Gulch Farm, 15 minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco.
This large studio is the lower unit of a house built in 1965. My wife and I live upstairs, above this apartment and you may hear us moving about. Recently renovated with new furniture, the apartment is fresh, light-filled and private. Surrounded by trees, it truly feels like a private haven.
You must be able to climb 7 steps for access to and from the driveway to the entrance.
The small kitchenette is not setup for cooking. It has a mini fridge (no freezer), coffee maker, electric kettle, microwave oven, toaster, dishes, flatware, cups, and glasses.
It's designed for 2 guests, but can sleep up to 4.
Perfect for weekend getaways or even a week of sight seeing in the Bay Area, our apartment offers quiet serenity and comfort.

Clean place. No stovetop, but there is a coffee maker and a kettle. A mini fridge with plenty of room for snacks and drinks. Lots of stores and restaurants within 5-10 minutes of driving.

Absolutely wonderful stay. House was cozy and perfect and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Host was an excellent communicator and even helped us find nearby hikes, music, and dining. Would definitely come back!

What a unique, comfortable place! It felt a bit like we were staying in a cabin in the woods, but it was still close to stores, restaurants, and hiking trails. We had everything we needed, and the hosts were great. Highly recommend!

Perfect location

We love Muir Beach, and this place is about 12 minutes up and over the hill from there! less than 10 minutes the other direction are an excellent grocery store and several nice places to eat. Beds were comfortable with good sheets & pillows, mini kitchen perfectly adequate and the bathroom well appointed with good towels, wash cloths and bathmats.I'll be back!

A perfect weekend getaway!

I had a wonderful stay at Haven in the Woods with two adults and one child. The place was exactly as described—peaceful, quiet, and tucked away in a beautiful wooded setting. It was the perfect setup for our small family, offering a relaxing retreat while still being conveniently close to Muir Woods and the Golden Gate Recreation Area. The check-in instructions were clear and easy to follow, and the hosts were excellent at communicating throughout the stay. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a serene escape in nature with easy access to nearby attractions.

Excellent Property

Mitch and Susan were excellent at communication, their info book was chock full of good recommendations; the apartment itself was spotless; Susan's art on the walls was a welcome personal touch (so nice to see original art and not Home Goods-type art!). The bed is super comfy. The view from the deck (which was a very nice deck) was inspiring. Great shower. Thanks for the parking spot. We would definitely stay here again and hope to on a return trip for more art, more hiking and more wine-tasting.

A Welcome Retreat, Close To The City

We stayed at Have In The Trees for a week in summer 2024, as part of an extended roadtrip. The place was immaculate, quiet, and the perfect jump off point to various spots north of SF, as well as the city itself. The hosts were very responsive, and we had everything we needed for our brief stay! If we're ever back in the area, this will be our go-to spot.

Comfy and Close to Everything

We had an enjoyable stay at Haven in the Trees! It’s a 25 minute drive to Stinson Beach, 15 minutes from San Francisco, and is situated in the heart of trail hiking heaven. The bed was very comfortable. We loved the back deck for resting and enjoying the trees and views. Mitch and Susan were super friendly! Thanks for a great stay!

Mill Valley Gem

We had a great girls weekend and the accommodations did not dissapoint! Perfect location that felt like you had a remote mountain getaway yet just a few minutes from adorable downtown Mill Valley and 15 minutes from Muir Woods! Our host was super responsive and we enjoyed some of the local recs that were in the welcome booklet. The kitchenette was great with all the basic needs. Beds were comfy and whole place was very clean!

Mill Valley Get Away

Was looking for a place just outside SF and am very glad I found this place. It was perfect for our weekend getaway to SF. Close to beautiful Muir Woods and the Golden Gate. We had plenty of time to see everything we wanted to see and visit. The place was quiet, clean, and had everything you would expect to enjoy. The view from the deck is spectacular, especially during sunrise and sunset. Would definitely stay again if I’m in the area again and would recommend to anyone who appreciates nature.

i stayed with 2 18 year olds for a special weekend pre going off to college. great location for muir woods and tennessee valley hikes. near the wonderful good earth market. only thing i wished it had is a stovetop for cooking. we loved the deck. would come again. mitchell was a fantastic host.

Peaceful retreat

Stayed here with my adult daughter for annual mother-daughter getaway. The attraction was Muir Woods and Mill Valley. This place was perfectly located for both. Mitch the owner was as hospitable as can be. The place was super clean and updated. Peaceful views of towering Eucalyptus can be enjoyed from the inside and from attached deck. Kitchenette has all necessary features for snacks and coffee/tea. Updated bath was well supplied. Overall a most pleasant experience.

A Step Above Glamping

I do not have enough good things to say about this place! It is clean and quaint tucked into a quiet neighborhood amongst the trees. We loved having our morning coffee on the balcony while our toddler tried to count the trees. The best personalized touch was Susan's artwork throughout. It felt like we were staying at an Aunt & Uncle's place. It felt like upscale glamping but with a full bathroom. Thank you for having us; we will be back!

Great Stay, it Matched the Description Perfectly

What you see is what you get with this place. Very well appointed unit below Mitch's place. We basically didn't know he was home, unless I needed something, then he was very responsive. The location is great, in a very nice neighborhood, with tall eucalyptus trees all around. It's very close to Mt Tam, Muir Beach, and Sausalito and Stinson aren't far. The patio was nice for a nap on the lounge chairs, although those could probably use some padding. The bathroom and shower were really nice and roomy, and the bed was super comfortable. I would definitely stay again, and really appreciated how accomadating and flexible Mitch was, thank you!

Our place is a "best of both worlds" location. The natural beauty of this area is abundant. While it may seem that our home is far away from everything, we are also only about 20 minutes from San Francisco. We are less than a 10 minute drive to Sausalito, Muir Woods, Mt Tamalpais, Green Gulch Zen Center, and Muir Beach. 25 minute scenic drive to beautiful Stinson Beach. About an hour drive to Point Reyes National Seashore, or the Napa and Sonoma wine growing regions. There are many restaurants, cafes, and markets nearby.
