Vacation Rental Amenities: Our lake house is a year round cottage that includes heaand central air-conditioning. The cottage is a 3 bedroom, 1.5 bathroom open concept with huge vaulted ceilings and picturesque windows to capture the scenic lake views. The bedrooms accommodate 6.

-2 bedrooms & 1 loft bedroom (sleeping a total of 6)
-Queen size Sofa-bed in living room (sleeps 2)
-Queen size air mattress
-All Beds include pillows, sheets, and blankets
-Towels & Beach towels provided
-2 Hair dryers in both bathrooms
-Baby gate, pack & play, high chair, & baby walker available

Details & Things to Do/Attractions: Lake Sara is an 800-acre lake located 4 miles west of the city of Effingham. Lake Sara's attractions include 2 marinas, 1 restaurants: PInky's, 1 bar- Rusty Reel, an ice cream truck, bait shop, and public beach. The public beach includes 2 playgrounds, along with 4 pickle ball courts, a ninja challenge course, weight and cardio exercise machines, beach volleyball court, a quarter-mile walking trail, disc golf courses, bocce ball court, and an All Access fishing dock. The lake offers boating, fishing, swimming, water sports, kayaking, & paddle boarding. Pontoon rentals available both at the marinas and online. Other recreational activities in the area include hiking, biking, golf, hunting, and sledding. The downtown area of Effingham is filled with unique shops & boutiques, local restaurants and cafes.

Very nice little hideaway on a small inlet finger on Lake Sara.We stayed there in January and were pretty much on our own....very peaceful.The house if very clean and everything was exactly as promoted....will plan on returning in the future

Gorgeous, clean home right on the lake. Located at the inlet with lots of privacy, perfect for our escape from busy city life. Hosts were prompt to reply when we had a question about the thermostat. Loved the attention to detail in the decor! We spent most of our time outside taking in the changing colors, and enjoying a bonfire at twilight. Smart TV was perfect for day 2 when it rained. Would definitely visit again!

Property was as advertised and very clean. Plenty of kitchen tools, ect. Nice location and water floats, ect. While I doubt this would keep us from going back, the request to wash and dry towels before leaving was unusual and washer and dryer cycles were both slow. Enjoyed our stay!

We are quite familiar with Lake Sara and the area the house was located so easy to find. It is a wonderful house and property. The owners were very responsive to all questions and concerns. There was a severe rainstorm one day with a power outage but a simple fix with the owner's help was all that was needed.

Lovely house, very clean. We loved the location and the access to the lake. Our kids had a great time fishing, boating and going to the beach. Owners were very responsive. Would definitely book again!

Perfect lake house

Hosts were super easy to communicate with. House is in a great location and setup to make the most of your stay with dock, grill, firepit, deck, and nicely decorated interior.

Family Vacay

Our family thoroughly enjoyed this lake cottage! The place was very clean, accurate to the listing and the hosts communicated quickly. There were a lot of extras available; toilet paper, paper towels, dish/laundry detergent, trash bags, outdoor insulated cups, spices. We enjoyed the numerous lake floats and the paddle board. My husband and kids caught quite a few fish from the dock as well. I would highly recommend staying here and also checking out Lakeside Marina for a pontoon rental. It was nice to have a boat for the day to explore the main lake (this cottage is at the end of an inlet). Overall, this lake was quiet and peaceful and exactly what our family wanted :)

The take away

My kids and my wife and I had a great trip and a great stay. We loved the property and the privacy. It was a beautiful place and we loved the night lights. The only bummer was that the host only provided decaf coffee. Other than that, it was a perfect place to enjoy the lake.

A small mishap with not having the code to get in but was remedied within 15 minutes. The house was beautiful, and the huge porch was a plus for early morning coffee, very clean and well stocked. Will absolutely come back!

Perfect for Us!

We wanted a decent sized getaway home right on the water with a dock and this delivered! There ended up only being three of us there so there was plenty of room. The deck area around the back of the house is really large and we enjoyed our coffee out there. It would be a cool place for a family birthday party. We saw deer and a fox and wild turkeys. It is located back in a cove, but we caught lots of bluegill and a decent channel cat off the dock. We would definitely do it again.

Great property!

We had a good time with our family despite poor weather! This house has just about everything you need for fun days at the lake. We enjoyed the fire pit as well. Things to note - swimming right off the dock is pretty shallow, if you swim a bit from the dock, it’s better. Also, make sure to bring bug spray. The bugs are unreal and going in and out at night if you’re wanting to enjoy the deck is very buggy. Over all it was great, the house was really prepped to host a family with kiddos which was very convenient!

Cozy and Perfect!

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Tuckaway Cottage! It was definitely one of the best rentals we’ve stayed in. The cottage was well stocked (dishes, pots, mixing bowls, spices, towels, etc.) & had many personal touches to make you feel like home. It sits back in a quiet cove which makes for a peaceful, relaxing experience. The kids loved swimming off the dock and spent HOURS fishing. Many bluegill and catfish were caught :-) We even saw a couple deer down by the water one morning. I can’t say enough great things about this cottage and will definitely be back!

Peaceful Lake Getaway

We stayed at the cottage for a quick getaway for our anniversary and it was so wonderful. The home is clean and very updated with wonderful lakeside decorations. The kitchen is well stocked and the outdoor spaces are great. We loved the seclusion of the location - nestled in a back cove of the lake with lots of privacy. The beds were comfortable and everything was so cozy and nice. The Effingham area is a great place to explore the walking trails and the great food options. We ate at The Firefly, Pinkys and the Gabby Goat and loved all 3 for different reasons. The only discrepancy in the listing is in one place it says it's 4 bedrooms and in other it says its not. Its only 3 bedrooms but the couch does pull out. Not a big deal for us but if you're having more people you will want to know for privacy sake. We completely would recommend this home and look forward to staying there again.
