Very responsive to questions. No wash rags at property so make sure you take some, if not dollar general down the road. We stayed to do some hiking at the national park

My Baldy

The place is beautiful and close to the National Park. It wasn’t exactly clean. We washed dished and sheets. We had some difficulty contacting the owner to get checkin details but once we got ahold of her she was very nice.

Misleading Property Description

We decided to take a last minute trip to Indian Dunes state/national park area with another couple. There were 4 adults and 4 kids, so we decided a 3 bedroom property would work for us. 1 bedroom for each couple and a bedroom for kids. However when we arrived, we quickly realized that this was actually a 2 bedroom cabin instead of a 3 bedroom cabin. The "3rd" bedroom has a small partial divider in the upstairs bedroom to divide the double bed from the other double bed and futon. This was VERY disappointing as now we had to put 2 of the children in the downstairs "game room." This game room had a door that would directly access the driveway. This is not ideal when you have young kids like ours. Now on top of this when we arrived at the cabin, the temperature was 83 degrees! They had a wifi thermostat, so at the very least they could have attempted to cool down the house before we arrived, but they made no such attempt. Several hours later, the temperature was not budging, so we contacted the rental management company. They stated they would get someone out there "as soon as they could." We ended up sleeping with the windows open in some of the rooms, because it was a cooler night, but extremely muggy. We made several attempts to contact the company and they never had it fixed the entire weekend. We were fortunate to have milder weather, but that is besides the point. They advertised AC, they should have reasonable AC. Among other issues there was mold in the coffee maker....

ABOUT THE OWNER

Monica started North Star Properties with one goal. To better serve the Northwest Indiana and Southwest Michigan Area with a concierge service mentality for short term rentals. From the North suburbs of Detroit she was bred to be in the real estate industry. Both of her parents were entrepreneurs. She watched as her father built Gauthier Corporation, a very successful construction company, which is still running as strong as ever. Her mother started a cleaning company that meticulously made sure every home shined like the top of the Chrysler building. Working for both of her parents growing up, she understands the drive and passion it takes to achieve success. Prior to starting North Star Properties, she sold real estate on the Northside of Chicago before moving to the Dunes and making a permanent home.
