Problems/Issues During My Stay

I booked this location for Thanksgiving 2024 for my family (over 20 people) The day before check-in I was told the property was no longer available and for the inconvenience, we were being upgraded to one of their premium properties with a game room, indoor pool, etc. in Palmerton PA. With my large family staying for the holidays I felt I had no other choice but to accept the changes. When we arrived it had a bad odor, as we unpacked dead roaches were inside the fridge, roaches were crawling along the counters, floors, and cabinets, and roaches in the ice machine There was obvious damage throughout the property, broken door locks/knobs, holes in the bedroom doors, peeling wallpaper throughout, dirty microwave, what looked like blood stains on the mattresses/food stains on the walls/soil bedding, broken washer machine, dirty floors and showers filthy shower lining, along with other issues. These unhealthy conditions reflect the poor upkeep and maintenance of this beautiful property. I contacted VRBO to see if they would relocate us and I was given a case # but was told to continue to reach out to the host. I sent pictures and videos to the host and VRBO. On Thanksgiving, I received a call from the owner saying if I didn't like the property then leave, no sympathy. Later VRBO sent an email that based on the videos pics they were reporting the property to their Health/Safety dept. We made the best out of Thanksgiving day but did check out early. This is a shortened review

Terrible Experience

I rented this property for my husbands 50th birthday specifically because I was told I would have beach and lake access, it had kayaks available at the house and could hold 25 people. The host lied and mislead me multiple times. When I first rented the property 4 months in advance, I was told beach and lake passes would be provided to my group as well as parking for 8 cars. Less than one week before my trip she told me I could only have 2 cars. After going back and forth several times the parking issue was resolved with offsite parking. She told me we had free access to the beach and lake. The day my group was leaving for the lake I called ahead to make sure everything was in place for our group and was told we did not have access and need to pay 25 dollars per person to access the beach. I tried multiple times to contact my host by phone and she did not return any calls. I called VRBO directly and they were not able to reach my host. Needless to say we were not able to use the lake or beach like we were promised. The house itself smelled like marijuana on our arrival, we noticed holes in the wall in the basement, a broken toilet seat in the downstairs basement and multiple rips in the pool table. The house was not clean and had a horrible ant problem in the kitchen. We had to spray and wipe counters and walls constantly to make sure ants were not in our food while eating In the kitchen area. The host was a nightmare to deal with. If she responded at all it took hours
