OUR STORY

Hi, we're Matt + Jeff—the owners of Casa de Alta Loma. This place started with a road trip. We first passed through Joshua Tree in 2019 on our way from Denver to Palm Springs and couldn't stop thinking about the jagged landscape, those wonderfully strange Joshua trees & the feeling of being out here. A few months later, we came back—this time making Joshua Tree the destination—and fell in love with the place.

After a few years of desert road trips, we moved to Southern California and eventually found this little cabin in 2021. It needed plenty of love, but we saw what it could become. We spent the next six months bringing it back to life and creating the modern desert home with the coziness of a cabin we'd been dreaming about.

Casa de Alta Loma is still our own place to get away, settle in & reconnect with the desert—and we love getting to share a little piece of that with you.

MANAGED BY SOLN

Along the way, we discovered how much we loved hosting & giving others the chance to experience the Joshua Tree we've come to love. That eventually led us to start Soln, our local hospitality company, so we could bring the same care to other special homes throughout the High Desert.

So when you hear from Soln during your stay, you're still hearing from us—Matt + Jeff, the owners of Casa de Alta Loma and the founders of Soln.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE

Casa de Alta Loma is a permitted short-term rental in San Bernardino County. As required by San Bernardino County, additional forms must be completed for every reservation. These forms are a requirement of your booking and are not optional. Please complete the required forms immediately after booking or within 24 hours. Your reservation is not complete until they have been submitted.

Reservations without completed forms will be canceled, as San Bernardino County does not allow us to host your stay without them.

Maximum occupancy: 4 guests
Maximum vehicles: 2

Quiet hours: 10 PM–7 AM. Sound travels surprisingly far in the open desert, and respecting quiet hours is especially important to our neighbors and required by San Bernardino County. Please keep outdoor noise to a minimum during these hours.

Desert environment: Casa de Alta Loma is located in the desert, where insects, lizards, snakes and other wildlife are a natural part of the environment. Please keep doors and screens closed so our desert neighbors can remain in their natural habitat—and out of the cabin.

Propane fire pit: The outdoor fire pit is propane, so there's no need to bring or purchase firewood.

Washer + outdoor shower: Both drain directly into the backyard, where the water helps nourish the desert landscaping. Please use only the products provided—no bleach, harsh chemicals or other soaps/detergents.

Weather + utilities: Desert weather can be unpredictable, and occasional power, internet or other utility interruptions may occur. Weather conditions and utility outages outside of our control do not qualify for refunds.

PROPERTY SERVICE

Our goal is to give you the most private & uninterrupted stay possible. Occasionally, scheduled service—or something unexpected that needs our attention—may require brief access to the outdoor areas of the property.

Hot tub: Serviced every Tuesday + Friday. If your stay falls on one of these days, you may see our technician, who will let himself through the gate and is typically there for less than 10 minutes. Please refrain from using the hot tub immediately after service, as chemical levels may temporarily be elevated.

Landscaping: Scheduled every other Tuesday. Landscapers will access the outdoor areas of the property during their visit.

Trash: Collected Monday mornings. Our service provider handles everything and will briefly enter through the front gate to retrieve the trash containers.

EXTERIOR SECURITY CAMERAS For the safety and security of the property, Casa de Alta Loma has two exterior security cameras: one directed toward the front door and one directed toward the front driveway/gate. There are no cameras inside the home.

HOUSE RULES SECTION

Nobody loves rules—we get it. But a few are necessary to help us care for Casa de Alta Loma, respect our neighbors & protect the desert around us. Settle in, relax & enjoy the place as your own while you're here—we just ask that you keep the following in mind.

À propos de l’hôte

Hôte : Jeff

Image de profil de l’hôte
Owned by Matt and Jeff:

Having a place of our own in Joshua Tree has been a dream of ours for years.

Our first time here was while passing through during a road trip from Denver to Palm Springs in 2019. We were mesmerized by the jagged landscapes and goofy-looking trees. A few months later, we made a return trip but didn’t go all the way to Palm Springs and spent a week in Joshua Tree falling in love with the town. After a few road trips a year from Denver, we decided to move to Southern California in the summer 2021, with hopes of finding our own desert-boho-chic-chill place with great views and delicious sunsets in Joshua Tree. In the fall of 2021 we found this cabin – outdated and in need of some serious TLC – and spent the next six months on renovations to turn it into what you see now.

Casa de Alta Loma is literally our dream come true! It’s not just a short-term rental property for us, it’s our get-away escape from the real world.

Our love for the Joshua Tree area and for hosting guests from all over the world led us to found Soln in 2026. We created Soln to bring a different, more thoughtful approach to caring for homes—and the people who stay in them.

This home is professionally managed by Soln, a desert-rooted hospitality company based in Joshua Tree, CA. We’re deeply familiar with the rhythms, landscape, and practical realities of staying well here.

Each Soln stay is supported through thoughtful preparation before arrival, careful attention to the home, and responsive, human communication throughout your visit.

We’re here for you before and during your stay—whether you have questions about the home, need recommendations for hiking, dining, stargazing, or exploring the area, or simply want guidance to help make the most of your time in the desert. If anything comes up, we’re just a message away.

Voici pourquoi l’hôte a choisi cet hébergement

Voici ce qui rend cet hébergement unique

The home feels peaceful and removed, yet remains less than 10 minutes from the park entrance and just minutes from the shops, cafés, and galleries of downtown Joshua Tree—an ideal base for both exploring and slowing down.
