Lime cottage is very comfortable and as shown in photos. Good location and nice neighborhood. Reason for giving 3* review is because host put us in Lavender cottage without an explanation and after we pointed out photos didn't match the unit. Lavender looks more like student accomodation. Only after contacting Vrbo, they were able to resolve the situation and we were moved to Lime cottage for the rest of our stay.

Thank you for Staying with us at our 5 Star Lime Cottage.Noted you Were Very Comfortable in Lime Cottage & enjoyed your Stay. You Clearly Stated the only reason you gave a 3 Star because the 1st night you were placed in Lavender Cottsge which is also a 5 Star Rated Cottage. As I explained I had just returned from a 7 day break down the Garden Route & hence my Mistake. But was Soon Rectified the Next morning & Quickly moved you back into your Preferred Booked Lime Cottage. On leaving I specifically mentioned my Mistake which has never happened & asked you to overlook that aspect. Some people are Accommodating & Others Are not.Nothing was written in our Guest book which we Encourage our Guests to do.You Were offered our Professionalservice Weekly Weather updates Via What’s App & even a safe flight to Your next Destination & Weather at Destination for your last Week.I consider this 5 Star rating & 5 Star Service.99.9-% of our ratings are 5 Star so a small mishap that I corrected seemed Petty. We continue to Strive to reach perfection & have done so over our Busy Summer Season.Hope we see you back at our Centrally Situated 5 Star ⭐️ in Constantia next Year.Enjoy your last week in KZN

Lovely Oasis in Constantia

We enjoyed a fantastic stay while in Cape Town for a wedding. The host was excellent and made sure we were well looked after from communication prior to check in to sending us on our way. The location is great and the property itself is very well equipped making it an ideal choice if you want to spend some time there or equally visit the many restaurants and attractions close by. Thank you for a lovely time!

Fabulously Constantia

The acid test of any stay is would you go back? For us it’s a definite yes. This property is a large home in Constantia which is split in to a number of units. We had booked a 2 bed unit but our host put us in the main house, a 6 bedroom 4 bathroom unit with direct access to the wonderfully heated pool. I think our host had got a few over booking issues and unfortunately we had to leave a day early but in fairness he arranged for us to stay in a lovely guest house not far away. The main house has everything you could possibly need, good kitchen and the grounds are beautifully manicured. My only real issue is that the pictures on the VRBO site and the website are a confusing. The site should specify which part of the property you are renting and state whether it has access to the pool/hot tub etc.And finally there is Jacko the African grey parrot who shares the main house accommodation- he is very friendly and you find yourself talking to him!All in all a great stay, Thank you Atholmain house

Not 5* boutique! More 2* worn out.

No one was there to check us in. The owner turned up 2 hours later. The property is very tired and the description and pictures are nothing like what you will get. The cooker didn’t work. Even the owner didn’t know how to operate it. The mattresses and had to be steam cleaned along with the toppers and carpets. We had to spend one night somewhere else at the owners expense while everything dried out. The unit we had does not overlook the pool and we were very much on view to other occupants walking around. The access is very poor. The pool cover had to be removed by us and umbrellas put up by us if the gardener was not around. Having said all that the owner was very pleasant and very helpful. He did his best to accommodate our complaints but the fact remains that we should not have had any complaints in the first place. The area is beautiful and easy to get around and is ideally located for Cape Town and Hout Bay.

All is not as presented…

So, I'm unable to review the actual cottage as on paying the balance via Vrbo I was emailed by the owner to say 'there was an issue with Vrbo and his booking system' which meant he had double booked. But we could stay in the main house for an extra R5000, or get a refund. As this was peak season we were left with no alternative but to accept the additional cost. Given the cottage is billed as 5* we expected more from the main house given the extra cost (which we didn't pay in the end) The house and whole premises are very tired which is a crying shame. Towels are threadbare (looks like the ones on order as mentioned in a previous review have yet to arrive), bed sheets old and one pillow case had holes in it, hot tub looks like a health hazard and was covered with dirty bubble wrap, off-cut carpets cover the high-use areas in the bedrooms (buy a rug!), TV's weren't tuned, weird coloured soaps in random old plastic bottles with the labels washed off were provided as toiletries (no idea what the were or what they were for), matching blue pool towles (as shown on the photos) were nowhere to be seen, rather random threadbare beach towels were provided (they looked like they'd been left by previous guests) I could go on and I have photos to support everything I've stated above. The owner checked us in and then we never saw him again for three days. In short, it's not what you see in the pictures or read in the reviews.

We thought we were staying in the cottage as shown next to the swimming pool but a “cottage” in a complex of various buildings where other occupants and staff were passing by our large french windows (it was like being in a gold fish bowl) and no immediate space to sit out without being disturbed.

He explained everything about the cottage, provided information about the area, and was on hand when we had a mishap with the safe. We wanted a few days at the end of our holiday to relax before returning to the UK. Lime Cottage was the perfect place for this. We would love to return in the future and would highly recommend a stay to others.

Honeymoon in Constantia!

WOW! What an amazing end to our Honeymoon! The cottage was just as described, we did not rent a car and solely relied on Uber. It was very easy to get around, we even did a wine tour using Uber. There is a mall and grocery store near by. This is a very safe neighborhood. The pictures do not do the cottage justice, it’s gorgeous and we did not want to leave! Athol is a wonderful host and lives on the premises, very responsive and overall a great guy! The pool and hot tub are beautiful. We had lunch at Beau Constantia, highly recommended! The views are amazing! We stayed in the Lime Cottage. We are from California and can not wait to come back!

Lovely apartment beautifully furnished with views

We had a lovely stay at LeBonheur, in the Lavender Apartment. The Apartment has everything you need and stunning views of the moutains. The gardens are beautiful and we felt safe and so comfortable. Athol is a superb host who was attentive to our needs and who gave good advice as to the area and what to see and do. Constantia is a beautiful area with walking and cycle trails in the forest in close proximity. We also found it well placed to reach the southern suburbs and to explore Hout Bay and surrounds.

Excellent location and well appointed cottage

Well appointed cottage in an excellent location. Hosts were most welcoming and helpful in assisting us to enjoy a truly memorable holiday. Four stars and not five only because our impression before arriving was of a cottage with views over a lawn whereas the lawn was modest and the view was of the adjacent cottage not the mountains. Apart from this everything was as described, amenities were great, the owner was super friendly and would be very happy to return and recommend to others.

Dear Gordon We appreciate your feedback. We have a roof sun terrace which we encourage our guests to enjoy should they wish to sip on sun-downers while taking in the mountain views of the Constantia berg, the backdrop of Table Mountain, also perfect to breath in the fresh morining air with a cup of tea at Sunrise. It was lovely to host you, and possibly next time you visit we could put you in our other cottage which is located upstairs and has it's own private terrace with a similarly breathtaking view of the mountains.
