Welcome to our home, close to everything in the Smoky Mountains! Alpine Bear Retreat is nestled in the heart of Chalet Village. Conveniently located to downtown Gatlinburg, Ober Mountain Ski Resort, Gatlinburg Bypass and Dollywood. Your days will be filled with endless adventures and boundless excitement.

Enjoy this charming mountain retreat, sleep six with 2-bedrooms, 2-bathrooms, a queen sofa sleeper and a huge balcony, offering comfortable and plush seating for everyone. Spend your evenings grilling with the family or relaxing and enjoy the peaceful serenity of the mountains. Guests often spot bears and other wildlife frolicking out back. This is definitely a preferred hang out area! Upper Alpine Clubhouse and pools are just a short walk away!

Other Things to Note
Please be aware, we are in the mountains, we have bears! While they seem cute and friendly, do not approach the bears, call bears to you, feed the bears, and do not leave trash out. If you are eating on the balcony and bears approach, please take all your food, drinks, and accessories and go indoors. Bears can and will climb onto the balcony for your food, even if you are out there. Do not leave food in your vehicles, (not even Happy Meal crumbs 🥰) bears can open doors and will get into your vehicle and may cause damages. Bears are often in our area; we are very close to the National Park! Keep your doors locked and windows up at all times! As long as you leave the bears alone, they will normally leave you alone and keep to themselves.

Wi-Fi/cable can be unreliable as we are in the mountains. If an outage occurs there is nothing we can do until the cable company is able to fix the issue.

Smoking is prohibited inside the condo and on the back balcony. If you smoke inside, you will be charged an additional cleaning fee. You are welcome to smoke on the front covered patio. Close the door securely so smoke does not enter the condo. You will also be responsible for proper disposal of cigarette butts. Do not “flick” cigarettes on the ground. Thank you for your cooperation and courtesy.

It was a beautiful place we had a couple with us she is 84 years old she has a hard time walking it was very hard for her to go up and down the stairs other than that it was amazing the frist night there we saw a mama bear and 3 babies I was so excited Saturday afternoon we sit outside on the patio and just enjoyed talking relaxing i would definitely stay there again

The property was clean and well maintained. The location is nice, it’s only about a 15 minute drive to downtown Gatlinburg. The owner was very easy to communicate with and very helpful.

Great Trip!

This was a wonderful home. The location was perfect for everything we wanted to do. The condo was very nice and had that welcoming feeling. The host(s) thought of everything from information that would help on our visit to amenities of home. She was so friendly and genuinely wanted us to be comfortable and have a good time. Beautiful place

Great place and it had everything we needed. The only downside is the curvy road that you must take in and out of the property. This location would not be good for anyone afraid of driving in the mountains. The property is well kept and is a great place to get away from the busy Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge touristy areas!

A perfect spot to relax

We had a great time staying at Alpine Bear! The place is very cozy and the perfect spot to relax. It was neat and well-maintained, providing a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Its proximity to downtown Gatlinburg is a major plus, as there are plenty of activities and attractions nearby to keep you entertained. Highly recommended for a fun and relaxing getaway!

Peaceful stay with Bear Sightings!!!

We enjoyed our stay here so much and hope to return one day in Fall/Spring. The back patio was our favorite…we spent almost every evening grilling and enjoying the shade, and hoping to spot a bear or two. ;-) The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed.

Nice Condo

This condo was very nice and clean. We watched bears play in the back yard. Very curvy roads getting there and our gps never took us the same way twice. We enjoyed our stay very nice owners we would recommend!

My husband and I live in Louisiana, just outside of New Orlean’s. It’s always been a dream of ours to own a home in Gatlinburg! We love to travel and explore new destinations, although the Smoky Mountains will always feel like a second home to us. We enjoy hiking, snorkeling, walks on the beach, and taking long rides in our Jeep! We love spending time with our grandson, exploring new and exciting adventures with him!

Fun in the Mountains at Chalet Village of Gatlinburg

Alpine Bear Retreat offers 3 seasonal Clubhouses and community pools.

♦️Upper Alpine Clubhouse
Upper Alpine is within walking distance.
The pool deck offers shade and sunshine, a view of the ski slopes, a 3ft – 8ft pool, a wading pool for little ones, a cascading rain drop umbrella adds to the fun. A game room with a pool table, foosball, air hockey, video games, chess and checkers.
This facility is closed for maintenance on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

♦️South Baden Clubhouse is just steps away from Ober Mountain. Get an all-day wristband and spend the day going back and forth without having to leave our scenic mountain top or dealing with traffic!
The Clubhouse features a swimming pool, tennis courts, shuffleboard, horseshoes and a kid’s playland.
The Clubhouse has pool tables, ping pong, foosball, checkers, chess, video games and a small work out room.
This facility is closed on Tuesdays for maintenance.
Meeting rooms are available for reunions, groups and retreats for an additional fee.

♦️North Clubhouse is located on the corner of Wiley Oakley and Village Loop.
North clubhouse offers 3 swimming pools, lighted tennis courts, paved walking trail, ping pong, foosball, and yard games.
North Clubhouse is closed Wednesdays for maintenance. Tennis courts are open year-round. Bring your own tennis equipment or use ours during open hours.
A private banquet room is available at an additional charge for gatherings, meetings, wedding receptions and events!
