About this space
The coziest stay in the area, this craftsman house is just steps away from the trailhead and minutes from downtown. Filled original artwork and loads of character, it'll have you feeling at home as soon as you enter. Dine by candlelight under the beautiful chandelier. Pick a book to read in one of the comfy club chairs or the chesterfield leather sofa. Sip a glass of wine on the porch. Bluetooth Bose speaker, a library of board games and DVDs, or stream Netflix/Hulu over fiber optic WiFi - there is a smart TV in every bedroom and in the living room. Stocked with luxury linens for bed/bath...

I normally check guests in to show them where everything is and to get oriented - then leave to to enjoy yourselves. I’m always happy to assist with setting you up with local services and answer any questions/ help with needs during your visit.

The home is in a great location, nested right at the trailhead of the Purple Martin Greenway, yet right off 221 and just minutes from downtown. Walk out of the front door and simply meander, or follow the trail all the way to downtown. The Equestrian Center is just a short drive, and Lake Lure is not far away.

Large parking area outside the house - will accommodate an RV, trailer or multiple vehicles.

We had a relaxing staff at the bungalow. Located right on the greenway, it was easy to take our pup for a walk! I usually don’t sleep good away from home, but the beds AND pillows were super comfortable! Great location minutes away from downtown. The host was very responsive to any questions.

Thermostat broken, it was either too cold or too hot. The house needs a deep clean. Very dirty. Coffee maker broken. Washing machine moldy. Oven is disgusting. I go to visit 3-4 times a year. This is a high priced rental so expected it to be well kept which it is not.

Well… to say I’m a bit shocked (and disappointed) is an understatement. Every single one of my VRBO reviews has been 10 out of 10. Until your review. (You can scroll down all the AirBnB reviews… 5 out of 5). I take guest comfort to heart, and I want anyone who stays here to have a great experience, so I am sorry to learn there were things you were not pleased with. Let me address… I just now brewed coffee in the coffee maker. It works fine (?). I checked the hall thermostat: turns out you had the Mode set to “Off”. If you press the Mode button it toggles between Heat, AC and 0ff. Perhaps you tried to adjust the temp and accidentally pressed the mode button and toggled it to Off. I pressed the Mode button and toggled to AC and it’s running like a champ, blowing cold air. Oven: there is a stain on the bottom which did not wipe away with normal spray cleaner. I’ll leave the oven on self clean and see it will lift better afterward. The rubber seal around the washing machine has a few small dark spots - they are not mold and bathroom bleach cleaner spray does not lighten them. I took videos of each of these stops in the house to show that yes - the coffee make and thermostat absolutely work. I wish there was an ability to post them with my response. (I’d be happy to email them if there’s a way). A single room at the Hampton Inn is $147. Your rate for a whole 3 BR private home was $159. It is well appointed and conveniently located, thus people consistently check that it is a good value. I’m sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay. I message guests my cell number before their check-in and say to please contact me if they have any issues or there is anything I can assist them with during their stay, and this is on the front page of the guide for the house as well. If you had simply reached out to me I would’ve gladly come and shown you how to start the coffee make and set the thermostat. Best regards, Sallie

Great little bungalow

My family and I stayed here for my mother’s funeral. The beds were super comfortable and cozy. The location was extremely close to downtown. Sallie was extremely easy to work with and compassionate.
