Elk haven was in a really fabulous location, a very short walk to the beach and to downtown Manzanita, which couldn’t be a cuter coastal town. The two outdoor decks were fantastic! The beds were relatively comfortable and kitchen was well stocked.

The place was in a great spot and pretty clean and comfy overall, but some things need a refresh. The king bed had a huge dip on the right, which made it uncomfortable. Plus, there was mold in the washing machine. The oven was a bit wonky, but we got a small refund for that, and they were super quick to communicate even before we got there.

Paradise rental

What a magnificent property in paradise, a short walk from the beach and a quick drive to restaurants/bars and shops. The property is very well maintained and you can tell the owners really care about what they built. Excellent and would highly recommend

Beach fun central!

Great property! Well stocked for beach fun. Decorated nicely. Loved the plants. Shorty walk to the beach. Adequate parking if you have compact car/s. Unusual amount of millipedes within the property.

Nice location for Spring Break

We enjoyed staying at the house for our children's spring break. We were able to spread out and enjoy the different features. The kids enjoyed the foosball table and learning to use a DVD player. We liked sitting on the deck with the fire pit. The beach was a close walk to where our dog enjoyed twice-daily walks to the beach. If you drive a larger vehicle like us (large SUV), there is only enough parking for one vehicle.

Wasn’t bad but wasn’t great

The house was just like the pictures! The decks were amazing for sitting and relaxing! The kitchen was nice a spacious. However, there was a moldy shower curtain and the beds were VERY uncomfortable. My back was sore for a couple weeks after our stay. If they get new beds I would give it 5 stars.

We are here for you 24/7 locally to fix any issues that arise. Beds can be tricky as some mattresses are hard and some are soft and they are comfortable for different people. We are sorry that these were uncomfortable for you. But we will pass along your recommendation to the owners for review.

Barefeet Retreat is a Winner!!!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have stayed at many Manzanita rental homes over the last three decades and the Barefeet Retreat ranks at the top of the list. Lovely, spacious, clean, modern well-outfitted kitchen, cozy and plenty of hot water. It felt warm and comfortable and welcoming with fast wi-fi, games and two TVs. Our weeklong stay was accompanied by much rain, wind, and thunderstorms. But the fully-covered upper and lower decks made it possible to spend much of it outside curled up on the rattan couch with our dog around the GREAT fire-table. What could have been a dreary vacation with limited beachwalks and hikes, became a splendid viewing platform for an amazing NW coastal weather show! But, in any weather at any time of year this house would be wonderful. There is a peek-a-boo view of the water from the deck. But, mostly we enjoyed the elevation and eagle's-eye territorial view of the small valley, wetlands, and opposing ridge across the way. One morning we were treated to a small herd of Elk ambling along the road. We look forward to another stay there in the near future!
