Casa Del Arte - a modern desert oasis ft. in Vogue

Casa Del Arte is a beautiful desert oasis in Todos Santos. We've created a peaceful, restorative place where you feel ensconced inside our compound and can spend your days poolside, mixing margaritas in your own cantina bar, and eating meals outdoors under the 28 mature palm trees in our gardens.

The modernist buildings, the living room and studio, were designed by architect Garrick Ambrose for his father, the previous owners, Peter Ambrose, a sculptor, and his wife Pamela.

Todos Santos is a pueblo mágico just an hour from Cabo San Lucas in Baja California Sur. Activities for visitors include whale watching, hiking, mountain biking, yoga, world-class surfing, and meditation. Thanks to the desert oases in the area, local farming is prevalent, and provide a bounty of fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as fresh-caught seafood.

Casa Del Arte is a peaceful retreat about 10 minutes to the north of town. We love the cool nights sleeping with the windows open listening to the crash of the waves on the beach just a 5-minute walk from the house. Take your coffee in the acapulco chairs watching the pink skies come alive listening to the birds in the gardens below. Spend your day in the solar heated pool, or chilling in the attached hot tub. Next to the pool is a pool house featuring a cantina where you can mix margaritas with fresh squeezed limes - blended or on the rocks?

(Note: we have recently renovated the casita, and the photos of it were taken just at the end of the renovation. We have not yet had professional photos of it taken, but if you are interested, we can send you more updated photos with the new furniture, tiles, and lighting.)

We recently installed Starlink satellite internet, so we have very fast internet throughout the property.

When you are ready to venture out, the question is what to do today?

- La Pastora is a world-class point break surf spot just 5 minutes to the north of us.
- The best swimming beach for families and surfing is Cerritos beach, a 20-25 minute drive to Pescadero.
- Take a taco tour to some of our favorites: El Poblano (Pastor), Pacifica (fish & shrimp), Barracuda, or shrimp chips and a margarita at Miguel's.
- Take a hike and a picnic to the hike swim at secret beach south of town at Puerto Viejo.
- A off road 4x4 adventure.
- During the spring, the whale watching at the beach in front of Casa Del Arte is spectacular. On a good day you'll see so many whales you'll lose count.

End the day back at Casa Del Arte in time for sundown, which you can watch from our rooftop deck above the living room. Prepare a meal to eat outdoors down by the pool or venture out to town for a great meal.

As you can tell by the photos, the house is a hacienda style layout with multiple detached buildings surrounding a courtyard.

The adobe brick building is the main house, with the master bedroom and ensuite bath, kitchen, and a bonus room with a single bed where our daughter sleeps and a half bath. The bonus room has a screen but is not totally private.

The living and dining room is the second modern white building with a vintage record player and vinyl collection for chilling out.

The third building was formerly the sculpture studio, and now functions as a studio bedroom with 2 beds, a king and queen size bed. There is an ensuite full bathroom with outdoor shower.

The fourth building is an open-air pool house with a bathroom and outdoor shower. The pool house has a cantina bar for mixing drinks and a fireplace for keeping warm on cool nights.

Behind the house is a casita. The casita is a 2 bedroom, 2 bath building with a full kitchen and living room. The top floor has a king bedroom and the bottom floor has 2 twin beds. The casita has a separate entrance and is accessible from the main property.

The main brick house, living room, and studio and casita all have A/C. We added A/C in the casita in 2023.
