5 Night Minimum all other dates.
Don't fight the traffic with every other vacationer trying to get to the Island on Saturday afternoon. Arrive and depart on SUNDAY. Who knows, it might make ya SMILE knowing everyone is suffering on 59 while you start your BBQ with a cold beverage because your staying ONE MORE NIGHT!

The Salty Dog is Lagoon Front with a Private Pier and PRIVATE POOL! . 25 x 12, 6 ft. deep, 3 feet in the shallow end.

Allows up to 10 people (12 with 2 Queen sofa sleepers in the 4th lower level Suite) We allow up to 12 people without an extra fee. There is an additional fee if you exceed 12 people. A person is defined as anyone over the age of 2 years old.

Located Water Front on the Lagoon in West Beach one block from the public Gulf Beach. Public Beach Access is at 10th St. & W. Beach Blvd.

Please note this house was built in the late 70s. This is not ultra modern with Granite counter tops and stainless appliances, The house is BEACH COMFORTABLE with Beach Themed Decor, You will NOT walk into the RITZ. If you feel the need to leave a review about the house being DATED, you will be directed back to this paragraph. All pictures and descriptions are current and detailed as of Spring, 2026. Please make your decision on what you see and what you read here and not what you think it should be.

So there is no confusion, the entire ground level is considered a MASTER SUITE. You will walk into a living room and there are 2 pull out Queen Sofa Sleepers.

We Encourage (NOT REQUIRED) everyone to bring WATER SHOES if you plan to swim in the Gulf or the Lagoon. Shell and Crustaceans that are present can cut your feet if you walk on them. Please use caution by using water shoes during your stay.

Please be aware that we did remove the hot tub from public use. It is still there and we do have it for private use when we live there during winter months but it is NOT AVAILABLE for renters any longer. It has been drained and disconnected from Public use. Also, so there is no confusion, the entire ground level is considered a MASTER SUITE. You will walk into a living room and there are 2 pull out Queen Sofa Sleepers.

Our Stay

Ken (the owner) was super easy to communicate with and answered any and all of our questions. Accurate description of property. We had a total of 15 family members and were all able to fit in all rooms and couches. I would consider bringing additional blankets for large groups and possibly pillow toppers for bed mattresses only to make beds a little more comfortable for longer stays.

1st Time to visit Gulf Shores

My family chose Gukf Shores and The Salty Dog as our vacation spot. It is located perfectly between The Little Lagoon (in your backyard) and the beach( two blocks away). The private pool was our attraction and we loved it! Upon arrival we had the most beautiful sunset from our deck!! The house felt like Grandma's house, cozy and comfortable. There was plenty of parking for our gang! The owner was wonderful communicating with me before during and after our stay. We loved it so much, we've booked again for next year. We are not pet owners, but this home welcomes pets. I am allergic to pet dander and was a bit apprehensive, but we had no issues. Be prepared for stairs... the joy of beach life!!

My family and I had a great stay at the Salty Dog! We were able to walk to the beach everyday, swim in the pool and fish off the dock. Pinball machine was also a lot of fun. Restaurants and shops are all super close by as well. The host Ken was also super friendly and great at communicating.

We were disappointed that the property was advertised as a four-bedroom home, as it functioned more as a three-bedroom home with a game room rather than a true fourth bedroom.The home is in a good location and offers enjoyable access to fishing from the pier, which the members of our group appreciated. However, several aspects of the property did not meet our expectations. The home felt quite dated, and the layout was unusual. The half bath connected to the primary bedroom was extremely cramped and difficult to use comfortably.The flooring in the kitchen and dining areas was noticeably uneven, creating an unstable feeling when walking through those spaces. The beds were also uncomfortable, which affected the overall quality of our stay.One of our biggest concerns was the pool. It was green upon our arrival and was not cleaned until midway through our stay. The owner explained that recent rainfall had contributed to the issue; however, neighboring pools appeared clear during the same period. As a result, our grandchildren were uncomfortable swimming in the pool.Overall, the property has potential due to its location and waterfront amenities, but it would benefit from updates, improved maintenance, and a more accurate description of the sleeping accommodations.

Thanks for your detailed review. We always SMILE when we see these because in gives me an opportunity to ask that you RE-READ the property description. There are current pictures of every corner of the house. The lower level is explained in detail. Bed comfort is always subjective. Comfort for some is uncomfort for others. Yes, the pool was getting green because it Thunder Stormed every day for a solid 2 weeks. Our Pool Cleaner will not waive a metal wand outside in Lightning Conditions. When I called to explain this your comment was "I dont want your excuses" Every pool is different. We obviously missed your mark. Based on this you may be more suited to stay at an all inclusive resort with room service. Lastly, consider turning the Pinball Machine ON before you put any quarters in it. Safe Travels!!
